Saranth shifted slightly on her ledge, accepting the warning. I am not interested in your brown, she said, with the tiniest hint of snobbery. Another green is coming soon, but she is smaller than me. The green had no desire to be squashed, but gossiping was something she could do (safely, and from a distance).

L'mur nodded in understanding. He loved weyrlife, but the Hall had been his home for years. Of course Saranth wasn't quite old enough for a position like that, and as Liliath had said, the Weyr needed more greens. "She went right for me," he said. "Saranth gets what she wants!" L'mur's grin was echoed by a wave of smugness from the green herself.

You are too young. Liliath sent with the knowledge of years behind her. Oh not another of those small things... She heaved a draconic sigh. Soon the little flitts would be going after thread, they'd number so greatly. I sleep.

"Don't all greens?" He snorted, "Liliath bowled me right over. I bet you're spending your days oiling her." He grinned, remembering his weyrling times and glanced back at K'rel."Though I bet K'rel had more dragon to oil. One of the benefits of being a greenrider. Who else impressed?"

Not a tiny one. But not big enough for your brown, either. Saranth was pleased with her little joke.

L'mur laughed. "That's why I was late getting down here." He rubbed his hands together, still feeling the residual oil between his fingers, in spite of his own bath.

"Remia and Kirana both Impressed greens. N'tren is of bronze Datiath, and G'dor has a brown." His eyes flicked to K'rel, acknowledging his rank.

"Kirana?" The other names didn't ring a bell with him. "Did she go green as well? I'll have ot talk to her!" He grinned, "See, both the people Liliath responded to Impressed. She's a good character judge."

He turned back to K'rel "We were just heading up to the hieghts. I'd invite you but I'm not sure the whers could handle a crowd." He grinned, "And you haven't even been to the party yet!" He dropped his voice conspiratorily, "K'rel has been emptying the wine coffers, you'd do well to make straight for the table."

He shifted a bit, looking genuinely hopeful, "I know you're busy and all, with Saranth no doubt and all your other duties, but we should see if we can talk sometime. I should fill you in on the Hall..."

"Laneth, yes," L'mur informed him. He glanced from T'bell to K'rel and then back to the greenrider, suppressing a tiny smirk. "Ha, thanks for the tip; I'll have to see who else is about to split a skin."

An actual smile crossed his lips. "I'd like that, and I'm sure I can fit you into my schedule." L'mur winked at the pair- for surely they were a pair- and turned on his heel, ready to face the crowd again. "It was good seeing you again, T'bell. And you, K'rel."

I know how to take a hint, he murmured to his dragon, not entirely sure how he felt about this obvious dismissal, although he could tell the other greenrider had been glad to see him.

"Oh, we're not splitting it really. Mostly his." He jerked a thumb back at the brownrider. "Another green, excellent! We can be a trio, and all Harpers too! I don't know how I feel about taking the senior position...but Liliath would be amused."

He gave a little wave as L'mur wandered off, "I'm going to have to get used to calling you L'mur then, aren't I? I told them at the Hall that were asking for you that you were well...it's good to see I was right."

The sounds from the party grew louder for a moment, then there was a bad-tempered but colourful bit of cursing, and both a gold flitt and an annoyed trader appeared in the Hall. Imirin pointed menacingly at Flute as she ignored him, careened over L'mur with a happy chirp, and then circled back to land on Imirin's head.

"T'bell..." He growled, then ducked his wine out of her reach when she made for it. "This little beast is going to be smelted down if she doesn't stop stealing my earrings." His eyes flicked to the others and, with effort he softened his expression to a non-acid dripping state.

True to fact Flute had one in her mouth. She chirped happily.

K'rel was hard pressed not to laugh himself at T'bell's casual dismissal, or the knowing expression on L'mur's face, at that. He stiffled said laugher with his wine glass, which by the time was unfortunately mostly empty, and rose to his feet once more as the greenrider bid them goodbye. He nodded a reply, even though L'mur's back was to him by this time, and turned to continue onto the heights themselves when he heard the call from yet another guest.

He grimaced, but forced a smile back to his face before turning around once more and walking down the steps to meet T'bell, peeking past him at the irate trader. "Another friend of yours?"

T'bell cringed and whistled at Flute. "Sort of." She launched off Imirin ("Blasted thing!") and flew over to land on his arm. With a bit of persuading she gave over the earring too, then took off with a baleful chirp, disappearing back to the party.

"Imirin..." He padded down the steps to give back his earring. The trader snatched it with a glare for the greenrider. "Sorry about her. I think she likes you. Could be worse, right?"

"Mmm." The trader pushed his wineglass into T'bells' hand as he slipped the earring back in. "If she rips it out I'll be givin' her pretty ones all in a row in her wings. At least I'll hear her comin'."

"Or she'll appear straight out of between." T'bell supplied and handed the wine back. "Imirin, Wingsecond K'rel, rider of brown Siventh." He glared at the trader warningly.

Imirin looked to the brownrider, then to T'bell, then grinned very deviously and held out a hand to K'rel. "Master Trader Imirin, without a caravan for now. I've heard much about you." He ignored T'bells' glare.

So much for retreating to the heights. However, just by Imirin's greeting, K'rel suspected he might have more in common with the master trader than he had the departing greenrider. After passing his own wine glass to his other hand, he stepped down to shake Imirin's hand, grinning a reply. "My pleasure, Master Trader. More gossip about me? All good, I hope?"

"Hot body and are amazin' in bed, from my limited sources." His expression was devilishly innocent as he shook the brownrider's hand.

T'bell was gaping like a very angry and red fish somewhere in the background.

"I'll be missed by the crowd." He turned on his heel and gave a backwards wave, easily avoiding the kick T'bell tried to send him. "My regards, and happy trysting."

"I'll accept that!" K'rel laughed, lifting his glass in a toast to the MasterTrader. "A good Turnover to you, Imirin."

Once Imirin had gone, a smirking K'rel waved the greenrider back towards the heights, waiting for T'bell to reach him before starting up at his side once more. "Hot body and amazing in bed, hmm? And here I was sure L'mur was jealous of me, not you."

T'bell padded up the stairs a few above the brownrider to hide his blush. "I didn't say any of those things! I'll...I'll drop him between. Blasted..." He degenterated into muttered curses.

Imirin snickered as he heard the pair disappear. Everything was a trade-off, and he was a bit mroe even with T'bell now.

"You didn't?" The brownrider feigned disappointment, making a show of lagging behind. "Now you've upset me, greenrider." He shook his head and drained the last of his wine, half tempted to stop on the stairs again.

If not for the fact that T'bell had the wineskin, he probably would have.

He said some. He will not speak of the rest. Liliath sent, awoken briefly by T'bells' antics. She was indifferent to Imirin, but he had amused her this time so she would not eat him. You are not Siventh.

"I...I certainly talked about you." He paused, mouth working for a while while his brain tried ot catch up. "I, I just...I mean I don't gossip but he was the only one around. And well," He flailed a little bit, "Can you see me saying that?!"

K'rel tensed briefly as the unfamiliar voice touched his mind, but soon relaxed as he recognized Liliath, even chuckling softly at her words. He sent her his regards, but fixed a disinterested frown on his face as he addressed T'bell, shrugging his shoulders. "I'm drunk. Anything's possible, and most things are quite probable. I don't see why you wouldn't say it, personally."
