Haha what's a parrothead?

You're fairly young, aren't you? LOL! A parrothead is a fan of Jimmy Buffett. His writing, his music, and the lifestyle it represents. We parrotheads actually have "clubs" all over the world where we can get together and just discuss life in general. And we do community service stuff. Like, my chapter raised money over a 2 year period to have an indoor handicap-accessible playground built at a children's hospital. We did everything from a Caribbean bake sale to a sponsored beach monitoring during the sea turtle mating season.

Most parrotheads are in the "baby boomer" generation. I am the youngest in my chapter by 17 years! We're just a group of people who like to have fun and help others, drawn together by a common interest in music.

13 and proud. ^^

And I'm pretty sure that is not common knowledge. sweatdrop

I agree with C O X. sweatdrop
I had no idea what that was either. xP

My brother never listens to me. X___x
That's why he's always getting new fishes.
He's always tempted to put the bettas together because 'they look lonely.' >>
So is there any bettas that don't fight with normal fishes in the tank?

Wow. 125?! @___@

I didn't mean to offend anyone! I honestly thought that the parrothead thing was common knowledge. Meh, I'm sort of out of touch.....

Angel, a betta (male or female) can SOMETIMES be put with other species of fish. Short finned fish are best, like Corydoras, danios, tetras, or rasboras. However, bettas are territorial. I can't stress this enough. Most are fairly laid-back and will accept a tankmate. But there are those that just will not tolerate another fish in their tank.

Also, if the tank is anything less than 5 gallons, DO NOT put anything other than 1 or 2 corys in there with him. If the tank is only a gallon or (heaven forbid) less, don't put any other fish in there. A couple of ghost or wood shrimp would be okay, as they will help clean the tank. But the betta *might* mistake them for snacks.

There are numerous links available that detail betta care. The one I recommend is bettatalk. It is owned and operated by one of the best breeders in the world. There you can find answers to just about any betta-related question you might have. Of course, I am always willing to help any way I can!

Haha! Thanks so much Mekasia! I don't even know why I'm asking for my brother. Probably for the poor fishes he puts with his bettas. He used to put one to two bettas in with other small fishes (plus two frogs and one of those tall finned tank cleaner fishes) in a one gallon tank. -prepares for her to yell at her brother- xP

And now, he has a betta with this one other fish slightly bigger than it in a jar I think that's less than a gallon with no tank cleaners. Ouch. His excuses are always that the bettas are lonely. I think he shouldn't own bettas at all.
