Pups were a mildly intimidating thought that she currently kept to herself, fearful that it was a childish conclusion - mate = pups, immediately. Though she would enjoy pups as soon as they came, would want them as soon as possible. She mentally shook her head, though her eyes never moved from the male at her side. She had the intent of focusing on his company for the time being, as that was far more important. Pups would come later. Hopefully soon, but later.
When he spoke, she snorted indignantly, though she smiled. There was no hesitation slipping back into a humorous aire. It was instantaneous. "Lucky, perhaps, but as I had said, with so many malu to choose from, there was a broad chance I would find one that was right." She winked before turning her head to hide a yawn. Looking back, she blinked, "All this night time activity has worn me out, you scoundrel."

ooc sorry for length. -death- i dunno why i can't do anything more ;___;
"Oh yes, I forgot. You broke all those hearts tonight." He smiled an gave a slight chuckle before looking away from the maluess and focusing on a frog. The nightly creatures were pleasant, on occasion, he mused. Not all that came out when the sun went down was wicked and vicious. After all, Midori came out at night. Or perhap she didn't? That was something he had not found out yet, and it was most certainly something to ask. After another comment, of course. "Scoundrel?" He feigned a hurt expression, placing a paw on his chest and leaning slightly away from her to get in a good act. He quickly dropped the look, however, for a more seductive smirk. "You have no idea." With a wink, however, it was over, and he was chuckling softly.

"So doesn't that make you the lucky one? Your heart is still intact, I would hope." Her eyes followed his to the frog - a slightly less secretive creature with it's loud croaking that kept a good many malu up late into the night. True, Midori came out at night, but it wasn't often, and rarely through the entire night. She had only seen the coming dawn without sleep a handful of times, though sunsets and twilight she saw most often. She would tell him so when he asked, besides, one of them had to spend the night with the children. They could chose later in life whether they slept with the sun or the moon. "Yes, scoundrel." Her eyes glittered as she chuckled at him, "I do believe I could come up with a general idea."

"It's true, I am quite lucky." He nuzzled her gentley and then stood and yawned, growing mildly tired. He would be awake for several more hours, though he did not know how much long Midori could last. Being the average protective male, he got the idea into his head that she could sleep here in the garden tonight, amoungst the beauty and the peace that so matched her looks and personality. As the fog grew in intensity, he felt more and more like growing silent and thinking anyway, and after such an eventful night it would be nice to sit and talk to his god and give thanks. With a solemn nod in agreement with his own thought train, he turned his head back to the maluess with a warm smile. "Why don't you get some sleep, Midori? I won't retire for a few hours yet, but I can sta here in the garden and make sure nothing else enters." If she should so choose to take this option, he would more than likely sit by the fountain until the earliest hours of the morning before curling up and falling asleep. By that point, most of the nocturnes would be heading back to their packs anyway, so it would matter little.

"Sleep sounds brilliant." She nodded, resisting a second yawn as she returned the gentle touch. Running the top of her head beneath his chin gently before sliding along his side to find a suitable place to rest. There was a flowering bush that had grown with a crook in it, creating a bit of an overhang and a small hollow where the roots had grown funny and the rain had washed the dirt away. It was dry now, and had the obvious indications of a future den. Curling up in the recess, she lifted her head to smile briefly at Gustave, "Do be careful; I'd hate to be woken by some wandering shadow." Pausing, she then lowered her head again and closed her scarlet eyes.

Looking tenderly at the resting form of Midori, he whispered out into the fog. "Sleep well, love." It had been such an eventful evening, one that had seemed to happen all too fast, yet just at the right speed. Thier situation was unique, as far as he knew. Fairy tale like and rich with humor, unlike that of the other paired couples. Mated couples, they were, a rank that Gustave soon hoped to acheive. Pups would be very nice, but would be brought up at a different time. Though he didn't seem the fatherly type, the idea was quite nice in his mind. It would take a bit to get used to, having little ones around, but he knoew that he could get through it.
A deep sigh overcame him as the fog completely engulfed the garden, blurring the sleeping Midori's image. He closed his eyes, listening for those who might cause harm and thinking at the same time. He would have to visit the shrine sometime in the morning before falling asleep, that was certain. Possibley with a flower to place on the alter? A flower to symbolize what he was thankful for. With a smirk, he nodded and opened his eyes to continue his vigil.
