She frowned at that. Accepting this place was hard, but he was right and she knew it. If she ever got off this godforsaken island it'd probably be in a bodybag, so why not TRY to find something to do in the meantime. "I guess it does pass the time," she said smiling a bit. Well it HAD been fun, she couldn't deny that. And who knows maybe this wierd and strange scheme octo-man had cooked up might do her some good, might do them all some good.
"Count me in I guess," she said letting her eyes tick back over to him. She stared at him a few moments, watching him fiddle with his cigar. Finally she had to say something, it was bugging her that it was so unspoken. "Look, I don't even know if you remember me or not...or what happened, but..." she let a light shrug grace her shoulders. "Sorry about it......"

"Hrmm?" He glanced up, smoke curling from the holes on either side of his head, "Oh... th'whole... tryin' t'seduce me... t'ing. Righ'. Well... if y'aint... gonna put out.... best no'... tease th'... slimy madman, eh?" He gave a chuckle at that, but didn't look sorry in the least for his own behavior. "When.... y'look li' me... y'don' li'... bein' teased li' tha'."

She nodded. He didn't have to make any kind of justification or lack of on his end. She got it now. Well she was starting to get it. "I know," she said quietly, giving off her own small little laugh as well. It was soft, matched her tired eyes and she nodded again. "I know, I get it now," she said, "I'm starting to realize that this place...." she stopped and looked over at the lake before looking back at him, "Sure isn't like it is back home...."

He gave a snort and a watery laugh, crawling back towards the water again, stretching his various limbs, "Sure it is. S'jes'... li' home.... jes' wit'... a prettier... tropical backdrop."

"Oh right," she said chuckling. "minus the sadistic docs, the duhumanizing of our poor helpless bodies," she added in sarcasm, "and the fact that who we were, every shred of it doesn't really matter..." She looked back to the lake, to the trees and the air above. "It really is pretty though.."

"Well... in th'city... there's them's wha'... want a bite ou' o' ye..." He wiggled the one shorter tentacle, still regenerating from the frantic bite Sid had taken out of him weeks ago. "Them's wha' wanna' be part o' yer herd... I don' know how t'describe it... bu' s'li'... always li' ... animals, y'know? Th'whole... social... er... y'know.... when y'compair... one t'ing t'another...?" He snorted, "I don' know, bu'... th'whole t'ing... reminds me o'... it all."

She laughed. She never would have looked at it from that perspective but he was right, exactly right. There were the throwawards, the scum the field, like the scavengers, so very dead inside. Then they're were the ones who were at the top of the food chain. She'd once considered herself to be that. Sooner bite then allow her position to be jeopardized. So yeah she got it.
"And where did you fit in?" she asked, now getting back into a standing position and brushing herself.

"No' sure yet," He mused, slipping back into the water to dissappear under it's surface to "catch his breath" so to speak, his dry-bag left ashore and a tentacle tip holding his cigar over the water's edge. Once comfortably resoaked, he shifted to lean on the rocks nearby, shifting as he drank in his still lit smoke, rolling the flavor in his beaky mouth, "Workin' on... climbin' up th'food chain... though."

She nodded and came to the water's edge, her tail moving casually back and forth, still not used to it but so very fluid with it at the same time. "The tops nice," she said casually squatting down and running her hand in the water, gathering the waves. "Lots of power...but yanno, everyone gets a Brutus complex around ya..." she looked back at the water, "Mind if I go for a dip?"

The very last human part that remained nestled deep in the core of William Woodrow would have been dead if he had said no. "Go righ' ahead," He chuckled in his wet breathy way. "Aye... power, righ'... bloody tricky t'ing... aint it?"

She smiled her things and began to disrope down to her skimpies. The cool water would be refreshing, especially with the amount of time she'd been cooped up. She wouldn't even mind her ruffed fur getting the grit of the water in it. She'd just shower later.
"It is," she agreed, climbing onto a nearby rock and then diving in, emerging fully wet a moment later. "I had it all...I was ******** powerful, now...." she laughed, "Now Imma furball doing parlor tricks..." she was surprised that the words didn't come out bitter. It'd been bitter for so long. But......no, no in these words there was something else.
Acceptance.

A little girgling coo left the back of his throat as he watched her slowly melt down. She might have been miserable, but to him, the strategic covering of furr was almost like a rather tastefull (In his opinion) bakini of island fantasy deliciousness. Better than fish. Aubrey could tease him as much as she wanted, he was still a man, was he not? "I ne'er got t'taste it meself... was pretty ....close, though... sister, lemme' tell... you. Bu' s'bi' hard climbin'... th'food chain."

She nodded, "Hell I hear you on that." She stroked backwards, kicking every so often. The two had been so very harsh towards each other on that strange day, more her fault then his, and damn she had the scars to prove it, but she had to admit his company wasn't unpleasant to her. ""Hard as hell. I mean, the s**t you have to do to stay there even..." she shook her head, "It's like selling your soul to the devil, and you know what..." she swam closer, "It was worth it."

He watched her, smiling in a distracted way around his beak, "Y'know... " He stopped, shifting slightly, watching her swim and cleared his throat, "Wish I go' a chance ...t'try it. woulda'... been nice."

"It is, it is nice," she agreed, now staying centric in the water. Only her legs kicking to keep her afloat while her hands and tail moved back and forth only slightly to keep her in that specific location in the water. "But hey with this theatre thing you seem like the boss right? What's the fee anyway?" she asked, eyebrow raised.
