To this day I still use the asterisks; however, it's only for OOC actions. Many users do that nowadays. I'm sure everyone can agree to that. I also agree with Tessie's thoughts on how it makes posts look cleaner. But I disagree with his opinion with my own. I think all IC posts should use quotes or colors to dignify speech, and regular, grammatically correct sentences. A little slang here and there wouldn't kill it though. Also, a first-person post means that the character is independent of the story, and its user can define what reality is. Not only that, it has WAY too many future tenses, which just annoys the h3ll out of me. (Better, Tessie? ^_^) I like it when everything has a past or present tense. To me, it just runs a lot smoother. But still, how many books had a first-person view, and was a large success? Not many in my count. In fact, none. If I could be proven wrong, I'd enjoy seeing it.
I won't rebuke anything Neena said, because I haven't seen much action from her lately. Thus, I assume she quit.

I hope she didn't. I only placed this here because her and Shad were debating this in the RP thread, in the (Ooc) quotes. I just didn't want all the Ooc in there, at least not two pages worth of it. sweatdrop
I figured the poll on top would be interesting, for people would get gold for it, as well as we can then see what most people think about the subject. I personally don't really care what way you rp in, I just know that most rp guilds/threads prefer the third person, past tense, and they don't like the * being used in the role play areas.
It is actually up to each rp thread/guild to decide on what rp format they want people to use, if they even care that is.

Well, sorry to say this, but majority says that the stars aren't liked, but that can still change in a moments notice.
Still, RP the way you want to. I wont stop you. I actually like seeing different styles of Role Playing, for you can take what works best for each style and improve your own style by it. biggrin

Personally, I find asterisks annoying and amatuerish (assuming that's a word. sweatdrop ). I mean, you wouldn't write a story like that, why write an RP post like that? Ofcourse, there are people who just want to post quickly and progress in the story but it really makes you wonder how a story can progess with a crappy post using asterisks, assuming it anything like this: asterisk-using RPer *walk in to bar* i'd like a beer *gets beer and starts drinking it* Seems hard to happen in my eyes, when someone could instead post like: asterisk-less literate RPer As he enter the bar, he could smell the odor of alcohol as it seemed to move around the room. Taking a seat at one of the many stools at the bar counter, he calmly asked "May I have a beer?". Upon getting his beer from the bartender, he took a drink, enjoying it quietly. Exactly. Anyway, that's just my view on the matter. I don't care if you type your posts with pickles taped to your fingers as long as it's an exciting and entertaining RP.
