Well, so much for THAT complicated ponderance. Really, if he hadn't been not paying attention to his surroundings and staying in the real world instead of his thoughts, life would be a lot easier.
And while he was wishing for the unattainable, maybe he should just sprout wings and fly away.
Chuckling at his own whimsy, Kildegard turned and crunched off after Spice, his large hooves crossing over his previous path as he made his way back to the clearing. Nice place, if you liked snow. Not that he'd ever really notice, though.
Following after Spice as he was, it didn't take the white stallion that long to reach the place she had been talking about. Smiling a bit in satisfaction, he pawed a bit at the snow, then bent down to snack on the long sweet grasses. Definitely tasty, all things considered.

Smiling Spice also bent her neck and with her front hooves pawed at the snow to reveal some more of the sweet grasses underneath. Spice was not bad at foraging and was rather good at it. She took a mouthful of it and chewed.
She was happy to find this spot since this was some of the best grass she had eaten all winter. Stopping she looked around them. Birds where chirping, squirrels and other small animals where racing and chattering around behind the trees.

Nosing about in the snow, Kildegard munched and crunched his way through the frosty grass, breaking off the tender bites until he felt the edge was suitably taken off his hunger. Having satisfied himself with a full stomach, the stallion raised his head and looked curiously around the clearing, noting how relatively snug it was. Dark eyes glanced down at his own hooves, then followed his tracks back to the point he'd been accosted by Spice before following them back in the direction he'd come...how far had he come, anyway?
Shaking his head, the stallion turned to look curiously at the mare that had gotten his attention. At the moment she appeared to be eating with the same energy he had been, allowing him some time to size her up.
She was a little thing, her head barely passing his shoulder, with bright colors that echoed his own and eyes brighter than the grass in springtime. Not an unattractive creature by any means.
"So, do you live around here or something?" Perhaps a bit blunt, but now that he was here, it made sense to take advantage of having someone around to talk to. It wasn't often he had companions and was aware of it, after all.

Spice snapped out of her thought of mind and her eyes darted from her surroundings to the pale stallion before her. She noted his Dark eyes as they looked upon her and now that she thought a little more she was a bit shorter then him. She only stood 15hh and Who knows how high this stallion was but no matter, Spice didn't feel threatened which was a good thing.
" No I live by the lake, its a little ways east from here. And what about you? Do you live around here?"

An answer to a question, and then another question! Well, if this kept up then he'd have no excuse to slip back into his thoughts, which was exactly how he wanted it. It was decidedly annoying to go through life not knowing how half of it was spent!
At her comment he nodded his head politely, though he honestly had no idea where this lake she was talking about was. He lived near A lake himself; was it this lake that she was talking about? How long had he even been wandering, anyway? Well, he'd been on his way home, right? Maybe? Gah, he needed to get some sort of notebook for himself, or one of these days he'd wind up well and truly lost!
But honestly seemed like a good shot. Smiling sheepishly, he shrugged his shoulders at the mare. "Maybe? I live near A lake, but I don't know if it's this one or another one, or what. I'm not too good with geography half the time." As if that was hard. "Actually, never would probably be a more truthful answer."

" hmm well i only know of one lake and that is the one I live near... I hope its not rude or odd for me to ask but do you have any family? Perhaps a teepee?"
She kept asking questions, which is what she usually did when meeting a Soquili at first. She didn’t want to be unaware of anything in case she would meet up with them again. Odd it was that sh never really ran into any soquili.. lately it had been all males to. Spice began to wonder if there where really any females out there, or perhapes the males just out numbered the females.

Family? No. Teepee? Kinda. Herd? That one at least was a yes. Inclining his head slightly at the mare in response to her question, Kildegard smiled at finally being able to offer some sort of definite answer. "Well, I'm mostly a rover, but I recently joined a herd centered around a teepee on the west end of a lake. There's me and seven others that call that place home, sorta."
And indeed, it was a case of 'sorta'. He'd been introduced around by the dark blue stallion Zaphiro, who had had to explain who a few of Kildegard's new herdmates were since they were never around. As a matter of fact, two of those herdmates were still enigmas to Kildegard, having never met them...or maybe he had and just hadn't known it at the time. But that didn't really matter now, did it? "Do you have a teepee around here, or a herd base, or something like that? Or is it just you?"

Spice swallowed the mouthful of food she had just grabbed and looked over to Kildegard,
" I live on the eastern side of the lake and yes I live in a teepee with 4 others. A fox, human, and then my adopted parents King and Tetyawna. But I hardly ever sleep there or even go there so its just easy to say I'm on my own."
She paused and thought of what to ask next. Never before did she have to ask questions to make another stay well conscious sort to speak. Smiling she looked over again.
" I think your actually the 6th or so Soquili I have met since I came here. I've only me one other mare other then Tetyawna and her daughter.... come to think of it 5 out of 6 where stallions... how odd.. What bout you? have you met any others besides myself?"

West and east, huh? No wonder he hadn't realized that there was another teepee around, if it was on the opposite side of the lake. It was a pretty big lake, after all, and he'd never actually tried to go around it. Or maybe he had. Though Spice apparently hadn't seen him, if he'd made it that direction before.
But her reiteration brought him up short; obviously the two of them counted things differently! Chuckling, he shook his head at the mare. "My apoligies; I guess that I technically live with 11 others, using yout math; there's a two legger, a fox bonded to one of my herdmates, and then a basket that that same hermate is caring for in addition to six other Soquilis. But as for your other question..."
Here he lowered his head and looked down at the ground for a moment, a bit embarrassed. He wasn't sure if she'd meant it or not, but her comment about never seeing mares made him feel as though he were being accused of something..unsavory. Which was certainly not the case for him, whatever she might be accusing of. Still, he felt a bit flustered, especially in light of his following confession.
"Actually, you're the first Soquili I"ve met outside of my own herd; in fact, I haven't met two of my actual herdmates as of yet, so you're the..." Pausing to count, he thought for a moment. "Sixth Soquili I've met. And in my herd of eight, there are only two mares." He had no idea bout the basket, for all that Safi swore it was female. "Maybe there are just fewer mares around?"

Spice blinked and watched his expression, realizing what it must had sounded like her cheeks turned red from embarrassment.
" I'm sorry I didn’t mean for it to sound like... I’m sorry, it really isn’t a bad thing it's just i have noticed that as of late...."
She listened further as he talked. still red from the embarrassing situation she had just encountered and after he was done she thought. Perhaps there where less mares than stallions around but that didn’t matter she was sure she'd find more eventually.
" Well what ever the case I hope there’s more around I’d hate to think what it would be like if there where only a few of us around... At any rate do you mind me asking, how often do you trance out?"
Spice didn’t want to seem rude so she looked away biting her lip. Perhaps she shouldn’t of asked that, to personal of a question maybe.

Given the fact that Spice's face was pretty red naturally, Kildegard didn't really notice the blush. That was probably a good thing, given the fact that he would have made her uncomfortable with his words and that knowledge would have made him even more embarrassed. But luckily for them both, he didn't realize.
Consequently, he was able to calm his blush and adopt a more turthful smile after relatively short order. Besides, her earlier question amused him, and he responded to it almost without thinking. In fact, he didn't think it through at all, merely responding with his usual non-trance drollery. "If there were only a few mares around, I think that there'd be a mad rush on the part of all the stallions, and can you imagine the bad pick-up lines? 'Scuse me, Miss, would you be interested in furthering the species with me'?"
Though one might not think it from his spacey tendencies, Kildegard had a sometimes wicked sense of humor and a talent for mimicry, both of which he brought into play in his little comment. It was unquestionably a silly situation, which she hopefully wouldn't be offended by. Not that he was even thinking about that!
"As for the trancing...it varies. Whenever I get distracted by my own thoughts, I suppose, though when I'm around others they try to keep me mentally grounded." As he had the feeling she might be doing, in fact. Not that he minded; very annoying to space out all the time!

Spice laughed at his joke and could actually imagine it. How odd, usually when some one told a joke it was funny, but you couldn’t really imagine it happening. She listened some more and waited until he was done speaking before she opened her mouth with a retort.
" I see, well then it looked like I’ll have to ground you then if I want this conversation to last a little longer. Well that is if you don’t have anything other planned for the day."

Considering that he couldn't even remember where he'd been going, Kildegard figured it was a pretty safe bet he had no plans. "Unless you count wandering about in a daze as plans, I think that my day is pretty much open. As long as you don't mind hanging out with a guy that could theoretically space out at a moment's notice, I'd be more than pleased to hang around for a while. You'd be surprised how tedious being unaware is."
That time as he spoke, he allowed his tone to become aggreived, as though he were the most put-upin being in all existance. Still, he was once again joking, enjoying having his mind at his disposal and an individual to practice his wit on simultaneously. And Spice seemed friendly enough, which was a nice change of pace from always fielding weird looks.

" ohh I have no problem with it. If you space out you space out and that means i just have to practice my social skills better so I’m not as boring."
She joked around with a smile on her face. Spice was finding this amusing and riveting at the fact that at any moment he could just go blank and wonder off again.
" Besides your better company than most. So long as you have nothing planned then all is well as far as I’m concerned. So tell me, is there anything else i should know about you?"
Spice was a curious little mare, and the more she knew the better, that would save from embarrassing situations later on. Her Green Orbs looked him over again and she noticed the strange cross on his rump.
She had seen others with weird symbols on their rears from afar but they where a little more colorful. Not wanting to seem rude or anything her eyes darted back to his and she listened for him to speak.

Now that he had been back to himself for a decent amount of time, Kildegard was feeling much more at ease and in order than he had earlier when Spice had surprised him. The fact that she was willing to play along and joke with him helped with that transition, and was one he was willing to exploit. After all, half the time he didn't have this sort of chance!
Therefore he couldn't resist taking a jab at her when he noticed her eyes on his hindquarters. He was guessing her attention had been drawn to his cross; after all, it was the most elaborate marking HE'D ever seen on a Soquili, so he wouldn't be surprised if it was the same with her. Still, the fact remained that she was staring at his rear.
Dead-panning both tone and expression, the white stallion moved to the advantage. "What you should know about me? Well, I've been told I have a very nice rear, but you seem to have noticed that already. Or is it a standard practice around these parts to study the rumps of new acquaintances?" Perhaps it was a little cheeky to get so personal with a new acquaintance, but he couldn't resist the chance to observe reactions.
