Ran’s eyes widened as the cat hugged him. This behavior caught him off guard and almost fell back with the weight of Yubikiri. “Eh… No problem.” He smiled at the cat’s enthusiasm. At least he could make this one happy, unlike the fox with him.
Kaoru still clung to Ran’s sleeve. His glare wiped away suddenly as Yubikiri noticed the glare he was receiving. The fox’s ears went up in surprised, but then almost immediately came back down to the sides of his head. And then he took a step back behind Ran, blushing at the cat.
“Uh...” Ran squeaked as he noticed this. “Kaoru is a little shy around people he doesn’t know…” He explained to Yubikiri, smiling softly.

Yubikiri's mouth twisted slightly in thought, wondering why the fox couldn't tell him this himself. However, he tried to be as understanding as he could despite his excitement. Peeking around Ran's other arm, his eyes locked on the stark night fox as he grinned cutely. He reached an arm over to poke Kaoru in the ribs playfully before chirping, "Hello! My name is Yubikiri. You can just call me Yu, or my personal favorite, double-Yu!" He looked up to Ran from his leaning position to tell him silently he was also introducing himself to the unicorn.

Kaoru jumped and let out a squeak as Yubikiri pokes his ribs. He was only slightly ticklish, and the fact he was being poked by the one he was uneasy about in the first place just somewhat unnerved him. He grabbed on tighter to the unicorn’s arm, as if the cat were to attack again. But he watched Yu carefully, his face partly hidden by Ran’s big sleeve.
Ran looked down at the fox and patted his head softly. “Give him a chance, okay?” He voiced, trying to get him to understand. Then he looked to the cat, smiling warmly, “It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Ran, and you met Kaoru… I apologize for his shyness…” He said slowly, knowing very well shyness wasn’t the only thing bothering the fox.

Yubikiri smiled as Ran spoke, even though he was understanding the situation very little. The fox intrigued him, and as far as he knew this was just something he would have to fix. He didn't like to be hated, but sometimes his dark side got the better of him; after all, he could never quite control it. He smirked; he would just have to try harder with him!
"It's nice to meet you two," he said, standing straight up once more. He never usually stood straight up, usually found crouched or slouching to avoid the fact that he was tall when his personality might say otherwise. He always felt quite awkward being around six foot, but was happy to note that Ran was about the same. At least now he didn't feel so... giant. His tail started waving slightly once again as his smile returned, speaking up, "So where to, Master?"

Ran's eye twitched a little bit as the cat called him 'master'. "Uh... you can just call me Ran." He smiled a bit awkwardly, but he tried to hide it. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well." The discomfort leaving his face almost instantly, and turned into a warm smile. "I've been looking for the Oomagatoki flower. Would you mind helping that is if you know what it looks like...? I am in desperate need of some tonight."
The fox finally let go of Ran's sleeve, color finding its way to his cheeks. As soon as he gets home, he will go straight to his room. And no matter what Kuro says, he will NOT go anywhere without her. Screw all this, it isn't worth it. His head lowered to the ground surrounding his feet.

"Okay, Ran!" he said, smiling impishly at his reaction to Yu calling him 'Master.' His tail waved slightly as he looked to Kaoru again, seeing his despair on the matter. He didn't know what to do to cheer up the shy fox, and hoped that one day he could. Mention of the Oomagatoki flower piqued Yubikiri's interest as his ears twitched, "What do you need with something so potent? I believe I know what it looks like; I know I've at least heard of it." Now he was curious; what was Ran going to do with something with such unlockable magical properties? Was he going to show him?
He turned back to Kaoru, seeing his intense expression and sighed. "Hey, I'm sorry about earlier, okay? I just wanted to play a little, I wasn't going to hurt you! It wouldn't have been fun if you got hurt, especially since I only wanted to meet some friends," he said, bluffing on some parts of his explaination. He could feel his dark side touching his senses in his attacks and couldn't tell what he might have done had he not been stopped when he was. However, right now, that's what he wanted it to have been. "No hard feelings?"

Ran smirked at Yu’s reaction to the flower’s name. All magic users have heard of it, but few knew of its power. It wasn’t too bad or deadly… if one knew how to use it properly. “I just need it for an ingredient in something it all… I’ll show you once we get back to my lab.” He didn’t feel like explaining until he actually had the flower in his possession.
This wasn't his first time looking for this flower, so he had a general idea where it was. He started shuffling his way forward, it was pretty dark and the unicorn didn't have the best night vision out there.
The fox raised his head, looking with mild surprise at Yu. He didn’t seem like the type to… apologize. But that was minutes ago, something changed in this cat… Kaoru bit his lower lip and nodded slowly. He honestly didn't take Yu to his word, but he also didn’t want the spotlight on him anymore. He quickly turned his head, facing forward once again.

Yubikiri glanced to Ran in suspense, eager to find out what the unicorn was going to do with the flower. His grin was wide and his actions antsy as he spoke up, "Lab? You have a lab? What kind of things do you do in there? Are you like a mad scientist, or do you use it just for normal things? Or solely for magic?" His questions came quick and he cringed back once he realized how hyper he was sounding, his ears lying flat against his blonde hair. "Sorry. I guess I'm just a bit excited," he laughed.
Turning back to Kaoru as Ran began moving, his smile was sincere as he held nothing more back, grabbing the fox's hand in a handshake. "It's nice to meet you, and I hope I can earn your trust over time," he said, sensing his hesitation with mild waves. He wasn't trying to scare the fox with his intuitive abilities, but he wasn't quite aware he was even doing it.
Before Kaoru could react any further, Yu pulled him gently along and followed Ran with a bounce in his step. He walked alongside the unicorn as his bright blue eyes scanned the area for any sign of the flower.

Ran smirked once again, close to letting a chuckle out at Yu's questions. "Slow down so I can actually answer. Haha!" He looked around at his surroundings, picturing where he was. "I have plenty of time to tell you. My lab is where I do my magic. I am not a mad scientist; hence I am not mad..." He gave him a side look, his eyes found their way to Kaoru as well, and smiled. "And I'll let you see my lab once we get the flower..." He turned his head back around, getting worried about the time. If I don't hurry soon... the worst will happen I am afraid...
Kaoru just stood there, looking at the cat, unbelieving. Why does he care if I trust him or not? Why would anyone care? His face twisted with confusion. Before he knew it the cat held his hand, and then started dragging him along to follow after Ran. Why wasn't he letting go? This was so awkward. Kaoru flushed as this was happening, he wasn't sure what to do. The way he wanted to go was in the opposite direction. He could feel slight panic coming over him, but he tried desperately to keep it from surfacing.

Yubikiri snickered as he followed Ran, in reaction to his answers. Not mad? "Well, everyone's mad in some sense of the word; at least, that is what I believe," Yu stated, sticking his tongue out playfully. "So... does that mean you use enhancements on your magical power? What exactly do you make in your lab?" he continued up again with his questions after thinking about Ran's lab. His tail was twitching with excitement over his thoughts, and he hoped he wasn't over-stimulating himself by getting so excited. So, in response, he held his breath and bit down on his tongue lightly, turning his eyes to the ground. His sudden silence could seem rather unnerving from someone who knew him well enough, and came rather abruptly from his giddy talking just moments before.
He hardly even realized that he was still holding onto Kaoru's hand as he grew silent, tightening his grip on the fox without even noticing. However, it was more of a shakey squeeze than that of someone gripping tightly as an order not to leave. His eyes scanned the ground subconsciously as he tried to settle himself down, giving the appearance that he was looking for the flower when his vision was focused on his mind.

Ran snorted a bit, "I guess... I am mad in a way. But not in a crazy mad scientist kind of way." He looked about again, and then noticed they were close. He recognized the trees and plants around him, "Ahh... we are close." He said to himself, sliding around the tree off to the right. Then he turned his head slightly to Yu again. "No... Well, I... in a way. I do kind of experiment there. But that is why it is underground... so in case something explodes..." He turned back around, his face lighting up as he found the flowers in from of him. He crouched down, "Ahh! Here they are!" then started to pick some with a smile wide on his face. "We might actually make it tonight."
This was feeling so very awkward to Kaoru. Why wasn't the cat letting go? Maybe because he knew that he wanted out of here and to go home? Maybe that was it... but still, holding the hand of a complete stranger?
His ears perked up slightly as he noticed Yu's grip tightening. He looked down at their hands, he was shaky and quiet. Was something wrong with the cat? Kaoru bit his lip, he wanted to ask but he wasn't sure if he was in the right position to ask something like that.
"Oh!" As he looked at the flowers a small grin spread across his face. They were so pretty! He never saw any like this before! Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to come out here. These flowers might have been worth it. Might.

Yu tried to incorporate himself back into the conversation, but it was very difficult as he was trying to keep inner feelings subsided. "Yeah," he said, sounding as if he were sighing in relief. He heard what the unicorn said, but it took a bit for it to register in his distracted mind.
He blinked as Ran crouched down, spotting the flowers after wondering why he had done so. Why didn't he see them before? He had great night vision and they were right in front of them...
Hearing Kaoru's gasp at the sight of the flowers, Yubikiri turned to him and smiled, lessening his grip once he noticed how he had tightened it. "Sorry... about that," he apologized with an embarrassed smile. He was still fighting off his darker sides, but it was becoming less difficult as his feelings subsided. He released his grip on Kaoru so he could get a better look at the flowers as Yubikiri backed himself up behind them and against a tree. He sighed as he closed his eyes, hoping they could get wherever it was they were going soon so maybe he could get a glass of water.

When Ran had finished picking the flowers he needed and then some, he stood up and smiled at the two of them. “All right, Yu, I will now show you to our cottage.” His smile soon disappeared as he saw the discomfort in the cat’s eyes. “… Is… everything all right, there? Are you feeling okay? We have some good medicine at the house…” He slowly found his way to Yu.
Kaoru slightly turned his head in Yu’s direction, but not meeting his eyes still a little embarrassed about the whole situation. “I-it’s all right…” He voiced quietly, almost in a whisper.
Then fox wandered over to the small group of flowers before him, leaning over them and admiring them. He then crouched down near them and picked one. Then noticed that Ran figured Yu was feeling ill, and turned his head, followed by standing himself up slowly. He wanted to know if that was the case… but he had a feeling there was something more to it.

Yubikiri smiled as he watched Kaoru crouch down, in awe at the flowers. They truly were rare in other parts of Gaia, but here they grew plentiful. Maybe that is why I've been having such trouble with my other side... these flowers have great potency in magic, and it might be screwing up my mind... he considered as he stared at the dark yet beautiful flower patch. He heard Kaoru answer back, but he hardly noticed through his pounding head.
He jumped slightly as Ran spoke to him, a bit embarrassed. Was it really so obvious he was having trouble? This was something he wasn't prepared to answer truthfully. "I'm fine, don't worry. It was... just a feeling I had, but it's passing. Nothing to worry about, I just probably need some water," he said with a weak smile, trying to be convincing. He spoke in mostly truths, but he wasn't sure if it was a dangerous thing or not at the moment. If anything got bad, he would leave. No use getting them involved again... "I'd love to see your cottage," he chirped, jumping from the tree and waving his tail happily.

Ran smiled slightly, getting the hint that he didn't want to tell him all truths. "All right. Then we should pick up the pace a bit, eh?" His smile came back and he was on his way to the cottage. “You’ll like it there… the cottage I mean.” He began, turning his head as he walked so his voice wouldn’t be muffled. “It’s a nice cozy place. And we’ll get you some water… and aspirin in you need.” He held the flowers close he himself, he didn’t bother taking a basket or anything with him.
As the two of them talked, Kaoru just watch from next to the flowers, playing with the one in his hands at the time. He looked down at it as he played, noticing those same feelings coming back to the front of his mind again. Those thoughts of why he was really here. Was he really even wanted here?
He shook his head; it wasn’t the time to think of such things as these. It was time to closely watch the cat, Yu. He changed… who knew what he would do now.
