That's not what I'm saying.
It's people blaming these foods and fats for the way they are now. When in actuality, they knew very well that these foods weren't good for them in the first place. They're bitching about something that is their own damned fault and need to stop shifting the blame away from their own lack of self control. They're coming up with new names for the same old problems just so they can go, "I'm not fat because this food was bad for me all along, it's them new fangled trans fats."

You're referring to the very same people who blame and then attempt to sue McDonalds for making them fat. Americans can't take blame, or responsibility. They're always shoving it off onto someone else. But I'd also like to point out, there are people who casually snack on foods that used to ( they may have still) have trans fats. Trans fats stay in your body and aren't ever digested. It's not just fat people who have them in their bodies, we all probably do from consuming some type of fatty food, however often or casually. And how many of us are morbidly obese? It still makes an impact, or it may not, on our health later in life. But I agree, those blaming their fat on the transfat should just clam up, deal with the hand they were played, and lose some weight.

I am very happy to see peoples thoughtful oppinions on here! That's exactly what I was hoping to see biggrin . I was happy when I drove by my local Krispy Kremes in Washington on my way up to spend the weekend with my fiance', seeing they are still there and bustling with business... I still find it odd that all of them are closed in Arizona. Did you all hear about Starbucks now eliminating their trans-fats because of this little scare that is going on now... I guess its soon gonna hit everyone...

I suppose it'll happen everywhere eventually. I suppose it couldn't hurt to get rid of trans fats. What gets me is that all these companies are bragging about how great of a company they are for getting rid of the trans fats in their food. Hurray for using people's inane fears to get more business.
Speaking in the direction of any corporation that brags about getting rid of trans fats: Seriously, anyone with a brain would rather you just take out the trans fats and put it in the nutrition facts. You're not fooling us, telling us how great you are for it. You're still a corporation. There's nothing great about you.

The only time I've been to Krispy Kreme was at midnight and the Hispanics working there were annoyed because we actually made them WORK when they were working night shift so that they didn't have to work.

The FDA has a responsibility to protect the public from irresponsible companies. It's about time they started doing their job. Altough it is nice that food companies decided to beat the gov't to it, by taking the stuff out of their products.
on a side note... Krispy Kremes suck. Pao's is better. And less expensive.

I haven't been to Krispy Kreme in ages, though there is one not too far from here that seems to be doing just fine. I think it's the responsibility of each person to choose their diet. And honestly, in moderation Krispy Kreme is not going to be the death of you. Moderation is the key...if you're gonna eat there every day you may end up with an issue. It's sad to see businesses suffering because society thinks the only way to control a problem is to eliminate anything that MIGHT contribute to it.
