Greating the Sun

"Usually I'm not the one to look unfriendly enough to scare other nequus away, but apparently that's what happened today after I look back on it a bit. At the time I was rather stuck on the subject of Zaknafein and when he may show his ugly hide around again, which I hoped would not be soon. Perhaps my deep thought had made me unapproachable, but I can't be certain if it was me or if she was simply just a frightful thing.

Just what am I talking about? A foal by the name of Mecriana, who happened to catch me at the wrong moment I guess. I'm not quite sure what her deal was, but for some reason she was alone at her fruit tree and didn't seem to have any parents in the general area. I assume they were close by though. After she declared she was tired, I set off on my own again without a backwards though. I look at that decision now and wonder if I was wrong..."

Playtime

"Well I met Mecriana again today, and she seems to be in good shape. Which leads me to beleive that she does have parents in the area, so I must have been wrong to judge at first. Apparently though I had made the promise that I would play a game with her, and figures, I'm a stallion of my word so that's exactly what I do with her today.

Nothing fancy, let her catch my tail in a game of Chase, and then she said she was tired out again. Obviously I left her company under the impression her parents were around, somewhere near by. For some reason I have a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I'm wrong for thinking that, but somethimes its better to ignore these things than indulge them."

Stay Away

"Well today started out rather in the pits, I still don't know whether or not I can trust my past, and my headaches aren't making this a very fun time. As usual, it was time for a breather, but even fresh air allows my mind to run wild with accusations.

Though I was rather surprised today when I was startled by an Ichsa mare I hadn't seen in a very long time. Her name is Nizhoni, and unlike before she had a little Rit tagging along with her. Nice fellow really, considering I hadn't met one before in my life... as far I know anyway. But anyways, I had learned, quite to my dismay, that she had an encounter with Zaknafein. Ugh, my head splits just hearing about him. But, I'm sure she didn't help that very much either. Don't get me wrong, she's a charming gal, but a bit on the innocent side. I tried to tell her that he was no good, but nothing seemed to work, I even resorted to a story!

Oh well, somethings can't be solved by the mere tale of words and symbolism, as much as I'd like it too. Though I think Skittles said he'd try to help her understand, just hope he can really. Anyway, its good to know she's doing alright.

The best part though? I got to brag about being a daddy.' *glee*

Grudge Time

"Today started out relatively normal, watching out for the fruit, and waiting for my turn for sleep. As luck would have it, none other then Zaknafein happens upon the same area me and Cress occupy. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but I do know as soon as he saw me he came a running.

Naturally, I went out to meet him. I don't really think it would have been a good idea to have that encounter near the tree, especially now that I know he has it out for my child as well. Well, things were bumpy, litterally, I don't appreciate being plowed into and tossed aside like nothing. Sure as heck my bones doing like it. I'm not sure when he figured out that fruit was mine, but when he did he went after it instead of me. That's one thing I will not have. If he has a grudge against me, take it out on me. I don't give a shiz as long he leaves that fruit alone.

Thankfully, Cressida was more then equipped to handle the situation. And by equipped I mean that horn of her's; makes me jealous. Moreso, I hope our foal has one, for I'm sure it'll be in need or protection at some point in its life.

Though, Cress did have some fun after the brute ran off nearly with his tail between his legs. Serves him right too. I know the things he told me, but now that he's targeted my child... I don't think I can forgive him. Suppose its grudge on grudge now, but I'll keep that to myself.

Here's hoping for an uneventful rest of the tree sitting. At least from Zak.'

So... Story Time?

"I wasn't quite sure if I'd get the chance to meet up with Lucius on one of our trips to Ryuten, for it seems we hadn't given each other good directions in the first place. But apparently fate had us meet up once more, and what an interesting trip that had been.

He did warn me about Zak though, said he'd probably like to get me alone when I'm away from the tree. Personally, I would love such an encounter, away from the fruit, and able to really get at him without worrying he would get passed me. Probably a fool-hearted thing to hope fore, but I've always been a reckless one.

Anyway, my encounter with Lucius was rather pleasant, as i had the chance to tell one of my more recent stories. I'm surprised at how I happened to end it, for I hadn't exactly planned that out just yet. But the best tales come from the fathoms of a whimsical mind, not the harsh organisation of a sultry thought. Still, now I'm curious to learn more about these two-leggers, and how their herd is organised. Hmm, i might have to go investigate on my next trip.

Upon arriving at the fork in the road Lucius had told me direction to this tree... but I'm not quite sure I'll be able to remember. So here's hoping."

Birth of a Son

"I cannot begin to express how sinfully prideful I am of our single foal, his demeanor, his energy, his entire being is the source of my joy from this moment on. Sure, its sounds like something some pansy-a** would say, but do not judge me, for I had never planned on having something so wonderful for a long, long time to come.

I am new at being a father, and I do not have memories to turn back to in guidance, so I suppose I must blaze my own path. No matter, I only wish to give him the joy of a proud father, and to entertain whatever thirst he may have for my fathomable mind and stories. I'm not too worried about the raising of young Tucker, for I'm sure his mother will be able to steer me in the correct direction if I happen to stray from he path of a good father; she seems to have a good grasp on what he wants and what he needs. As for myself? I feel I am his protector and his playmate, only time will tell if this will suffice or if I need to become something more as he grows stronger and bolder with age.

Until then, I am content to be what I am, and hope that is enough with what I know and what I must learn."

The Red Bae

"Today was rather odd for me, I remembered a time I had spent in D'ob, and apparently I had forgotten to write a log on it. Bad me, I know, but you must forget a fool who already has memory problems.

Anyway, I'm certain it was towards the fall season? Perhaps the begining of winter, but either way I had made my way into the valley with the attempt to see the scenery and possibly come up with a story for my mind to fathom. Low and behold I met a rather jumpy red Bae, who had said something about that green brute Zaknafein. I look back on the conversation now and realize that's what he was talking about, and so I had to persuade him I would be his friend and would not do him harm. Poor fellow.

In short, I promised to come back and meet him in the valley so I could tell him a story. Heh, it seems quite a few people like my stories, so for Vartan, I will create something special. Hopefully I will get the chance to see him again soon. He was rather good company."

Speedy Trip!

"Today started out fairly well, I was on my way to get fruit from the humans when I happened to stumble- believe me it surprised me too. Low and behold, who do I meet? A white Reya mare who had been looking for her daughter, Cressida. And who was I spending my time at the tree with? Why none other than her daughter. I agreed to take her over to the tree to see Cress and out son, but on the way back I heard a frightful thing: Tucker screaming.

I don't know what happened to the basket of fruit, but I was out of there before even saying a proper good-bye or warning to the Rhea, the white Reya. Turns out, that stupid punk-a** git Zak had shown up, and apparently things weren't going so well. Damn jackass! Had I known I would have never left, and I would have never forgiven myself if something had happened to Tucker or Cress while I was gone- well, something did happen. He nearly flattened Cressida before I got there, and that still pisses me off even to this moment, and I don't think I've ever hated anything more than I dispise this sorry sack of foul blood and guts. Damn p***k! He got what was coming to him, and I'm not sorry for any of it, though I didn't get away without a few knocks myself.

However, there is another reason to hate him. To loathe him. To simply wish him gone from the world. I remembered something, I think, from my past. Voices mostly, I don't know if there was a visual or not. It didn't seem like a good thing either, but the green b*****d kicked me and now I don't remember a thing. So close! So close to knowing the truth!

After this last attack... I don't think I can let him get away again. I need to talk to Cress."

The Prolouge

"Well... at the very least I've been rather turblent since our last encounter with the green idiot. Threatening to take my family away, harming Cressida, and intending to harm Tucker is unforgivable. Unfortunatly, its left me wary of almost every shadow and suspicious patch of green I come across. I had something on my mind since then, and I felt like it was the time to discuss the matter of Zaknafein formally with Cressida. We both have a hoof in this now, and it would not be right for me to get up and leave without any mention of doing so. Or at least bringing it up.

I had intended on telling her of my decision to go off on my own, but such a strong-willed thing she is. Had I been any softer in the heart I would have heartily agreed to her proposal, but I know we owe Tucker more than that. Plus, I need to get some information from Zak, and I can't very well do that trying to keep him from attacking Cress... or quite possibly the other way around. Low and behold, we made a compromise, one I rather like, so the issue was dropped till it came up again.

On another note, I would like to take the time to mention just how much a little imp she is! Haha, no that's not a bad thing, I rather like the little nickname and I'd prefer her to be a devilish imp over a prissy-footed princess any day.

We had fun, teasing each other back and fourth and our little 'race' - if you can call it that. I for one had no intention on winning.- was a great oppertunity for me to relax and relieve some of the stress I've been carrying around with me. Cressida is... quite possibly, the one I would like to settle down with to have a family. She's wonderful. I certainly don't want to leave her side, not after what we've been through with Zak and how we both feel about our wonderful son, Tucker. I think she may share the same feelings as me, but I haven't quite brought it up. Heck, I'm not even sure how I would bring it up.

It would be nice to have a family to call my own; this affectionate feeling I have... could it possibly be love? I wouldn't know, I don't think I've ever felt 'love' before. Perhaps on our trip to the ocean I could tell her."

Chapter 1

"Well, its been awhile, I'm healed up the best I could be, and I decided that tonight was the night I went out in search of Zak. My intentions? At first I was in need of information to my past, and to somehow keep him from harming my family; or at least trying to again. I suppose it was around twilight when I left, and I only did leave when Tucker was fast asleep. As we've discussed before, we decided that it was best our son didn't see his father missing all the sudden. And as such, my mission became all the more important. Speed. I needed to get this done quickly and efficiently before the sun rose and Tucker was stirring.

Low and behold, I'm not even off the beach yet and who do I meet up with? Mecriana, the foal with more energy than she knows what to do with, and her Zrun companion, Scabbers. It was an odd thing at first, apparently Scabbers thought I was her sire and seemed rather angsty about it. Though, now knowing what I know, I don't blame him for his actions. Heck, it just makes Mecriana even more amazing than a foal with simple energy. She overcame obsticles, and I respect that.

I was going to leave her then to her whims, but I didn't feel right about leaving her off on the beech with the very real chance Zak may be about. Or possibly other things that may dwell on the beaches. So, I told her of my son, and she seemed rather excited about playing with him in the morning.

After that, I simply had to leave. Twilight was burning and soon catching to night, and my task had yet to be accomplished. Looking back on it now... I think I lost myself again. Its always an odd feeling for one such as myself. I don't really think I've felt such hatred before, hatred and a passion rolled into one makes for a deadly combination I would presume. I don't need that with my meeting of Zaknafein; and yet it bubbled over into my conciousness as if its simplicity was all I needed...

I fear what I'd do if I ever got my hooves on someone like Zaknafein in a mood like this."

Chapter 2

"After my encounter with Mecriana, I had cooled down considerably while loping across the sands on my own. Why? One just needs to reevalute their thoughts in solitude for awhile, recross a bridge that's already been blazed across a thousand times over, and simply remember the reason for doing all this. For me, that would Tucker, and his future. I want to him to grow up a happy, lively foal and to not fear death around every corner. I don't think the first encounter with Zaknafein phased him too much, but it still worries me. If I find out that Tucker is affected in some way because of that stupid Aeri, I will add another reason to the long list of why to hate him.

It had been a fairly long, for the twilight had turned into day, travel across the sands when I happened to spot another dark figure up ahead. I wanted help, I needed help, to see if anyone had happened to spot the Aeri Zaknafein along the beach and if he was already in the area. That would just be my dumb luck, you know?

We got to talking, I can't say I liked her right off the bat, this dark Reya mare flinging 'status' around as if it were the only thing she knew. Low and behold, she knew nothing of Zaknafein's whereabouts, and thusly I was about to go on and leave her; but then she stopped me and said she knew someone who might be able to help. I wouldn't have stopped. I really wouldn't have, but the prospect of getting help, and possibly refusing it when the individual might know exactly the information I needed, was far too tempting in my mind.

I wish I wouldn't have gone along with it, knowing what I know now. Openly mocked, I did not take kind to her company any longer and she showed me the way in near silence, which I was more than happy to oblige with my own. Upon getting there? Dailondra, that's her name, made this whole speach about how I was going to fight the 'ugly jala' so he called him. I had no intentions in doing so, I still have no intentions on doing so, and so I left her to own mess after that. A little ways away, and I heard screaming in the night. I don't know what happened, and I don't want to know. She got herself into it, its her fault if she couldn't get herself out of it.

Back towards the beach, back towards Cressida, Rhea, and our dear Tucker. I want to get there before morning, since I think watching Mecriana play with him would be more than amumsing."

Chapter 3

"I had said I would meet up with the Jala stallion today, but at the time it hadn't crossed my mind to say anything about dusk. That, by far, is the only time I can get off on my own for the meetings with strangers in the night. I don't want Tucker to know or suspect anything, and I'd feel terrible if he did, but I need to get this done and over with. I need to know if Zak is lurking around a dune of sand, or skulking the forests just off from the beach. I to know. I will not allow ourselves to be caught offguard again, I will not allow Zak the upper hoof just because I refuse to do anything about it.

Which I don't. I am doing something about it, I am scouting, gathering information, and yet I fear it won't be enough. If I happened upon the brute during one of my missions? Like before, words will do me no good, and I need him as sorely as I wish I didn't. I need to know of my past, before it tears me up inside with questions I cannot answer for myself. Am I a murderer? Did I actually commit a deed I frown upon? I'd like to hope not, though I'm surely not a coward when it comes to it, its definatly unnerving not to know why or how. When or where? Who did it effect? Are there others in the Urin like Zaknafein, wishing me dead for something I don't even remember? What scares me the most, is that I might have put Cressida and her family into very grave danger, Zak I'm sure we can handle, but a whole herd that seeks my blood and theirs? I don't know... if that happens, I just don't know what we'll do.

It crossed my mind this night, that perhaps a herd is not such a bad idea. There is surely safety in numbers, a great deal of safety as long as they have your back and you have theres. But I'm afraid I wouldn't be suited for herd life. I like my privacy, I travel most of the time, and I'm sure I'd be hard pressed to follow anyone's orders. No, herd life is not a life for me, I could submit myself to the control of another, this I know for certain. At least, not without a hard time of dominancy issues, I'm not thickheaded enough to leave that part of me unchecked. I know its there, I've seen it many times before, and I have no doubt it would rear its ugly head again.

As for my travels this night, I caught up with Sanue, the feathered stallion I was suppose to meet, and we talked for some time. Unfortunatly he had no information of Zak's whereabouts, however he offered to comb the beach and to keep an eye out. I didn't like the idea, I still don't like the idea of having another in harms way, but it would be good to have another pair of eyes on the lookout for me. That, and I wasn't going to argue the point, I'm in a hurry, and big hurry, and I must be off again. Hopefully someone else may have some of the information I need. Hopefully."

[~Library Tale~]

[.Murky Waters.]

~Not long ago there was a horned stallion, a Reya, who happened upon a lake shore. Now he had heard tales that this particular lake shore was that of a legend, but he hadn't stayed long enough to actually hear the legend itself; just knew it was interesting. Of course to all legends there was a secret, and unfortunatly the reya hadn't heard that part of the legend either, so no matter what he tired the lake never did anything spectacular. For days and days he stood there, staring down at it's murky water and his distorted image that was reflected back at him, always alone. Finally, one day, the Reya happened to spot another nequus, a rather cheerful Bae mare on the other side of the lake, but he pretended not to notice her. It wasn't so much that he was shy, but the poor boy just never knew how to talk to such a cheerful Bae. But surprisingly she floated over to him with the elgance of her fluttering wings shining on the surface of the water. "What a beautiful lake!" she had called out to him in glee, coming to a stop right next to him and smiling. "No it's not, the water is so murky..." the reya responded dryly, unable to see the beauty in it. "Oh but don't you see? It's so clear and we look like one in the water!" again she smiled in glee, seeing half of her image and half of his. But the reya scoffed, he only saw his distorted image in the murky water. "You're nuts!" he growled angrily and chased her away, the poor bae was in tears.

For another day the Reya sat and glared at his image in the murky water, wondering what it was this lake held, what secret's it could tell him, but he saw nothing. Then he noticed an Aeri come out to the lake shore for a drink, he was an old aeri, wise and full of knoweldge beyond that of the young reya. But the Reya stallion did not call him over, he glowered and pinned his ears; seeing the old nequus as a fool whose words were jibberish and meant nothing. He ignored the old Aeri, but the other came over with a heavy stamp of his hooves. "Morning young fella! Whatcha doing starin at da water there?" came a thundering voice, full of nurture and wisdom. When the Reya stallion merely growled at him the Aeri glanced towards the water, seeing a bright reflextion of the both them, right smack dab in the middle of rays of light. "Say, beautiful ain't it?" He smiled. "Fool!" the Reya stallion had screamed and again chased off the other nequus, not listening ro nor seeing what the other had.

And once more the Reya stallion waited, pondering, dening any forms of help he could get from anything around him. The wind itself seemed to whisper, but the Reya didn't listen. On his last day before he needed to return home, he spoted two nequus this time. A beautiful Jala mare and next to her a female Ichsa, both laughing and giggling to one another about something in the water. Pinning his ears in annoyance, the Reya stallion wheeled on them and shouted, "What are you laughing at?!" You see he never could trust that no one had been laughing behind his back, and so he assumed every time. The mares stared in wonder, then giggled again at the water. "Oh look! Our reflections are dancing in the water", they had said, and indeed the wind was making the surface ripple, and their images 'dance'. Taking a sharp look at the water the stallion only saw his murky image, and growled once again. "Liars, filthy liars", he snarreled at them, chasing the mares away. Why was this lake attracting fools? Fools that spoke of nonsense nonetheless! He pounded the earth, and glared at the water, determined to see what they saw... but the murky water just glared right back up at him. Finally he had enough, and he stepped into the murky water... attacking the image of his distorted self. Unfortunatly the Reya could not swim, and since he trusted no one and had scared away everyone else he struggled against the water, screaming at it to let him go, but eventually was pulled under while believing he could do everything on his own.

When the Reya stallion woke up, he was laying on the ground with the four other nequus, the cheeful bae, the old Aeri, and the giggling jala and ichsa mares around him. He was confused, and when he looked into the water something amazing happened. He saw all their reflextions in the clear crystaline water, with sun beams shining on the images, the water rippling, and the images mending together. He realized then, they saved him from drowning.~

[~Library Tale~]

[.Two-Sided Stranger.]

~A long while ago, when Nequus roamed the vast amounts of Urin without the proper knowledge of what was out there, they traveled alone and never with each other; for their was simply too few to do so. If one tried to visit a place in one direction the other might not get enough time to visit their own destination. And so, they decided that it was best to put their own wants as top priority.

Now, this practice had gone on for many years, and still few nequus had come to wander the lands, but there was a single filly who was born in that time. Her coat was the purest and brightest of purples, with a soft pink half moon under each of her eyes. Her parents had taught her about the world, they loved her, and when she was old enough they allowed her to go off on her own.

The filly, who was now a young and beutiful mare, had come to believe that she wanted to visit the ocean in her lifetime. The only problem was she did not know the way, nor did she remember which way to get home; so she couldn't ask her parents either. Instead, the purple mare decided that she would try to find someone else who could help her, someone who had maybe seen the ocean before she had. During her travels, she had seen neither hide nor tail of anyone else, and soon began to worry that she might never find anyone at all. Was she lost? Would she stay lost forever? "Oh dear", she had cried out to the skies above, hoping that someone, anyone might be able to hear her. Though for the longest time, as she stood still under the dark of the night, no one had shown up. Soon, the purple mare began to lose hope that she'd ever find her way again, and nearly broke down into tears, before...

"Why are you crying, my dear?" A voice soft as velvet drifted out from the night. It was a nice voice, even and smooth as if spoken by the heaven's themselves. The purple mare looked up into the night around her, but was only able to see a dark shadow close by. His form however, was slightly bigger then her own, but he didn't very harmful at all. "I-I can't find my way. Do you know the way to the ocean?" She whispered to him in wonder, eyes bright like the stars above them.

"Don't worry, I know the way to the ocean. Please follow me, I'll help you get there." That voice of his was ever so sweet, and the young mare had never met someone so helpful before. Eagerly she followed after the dark shadow as he led her further into the darkness.

For a long time they walked, but something seemed very odd. The air around them had gotten cold, and the very shifting of hooves was enough to make loud sounds. After many hours, the sun had begun to come up, but the purple mare still could not see the stallion very clearly. That is, until he suddenly stopped, a chuckle coming from him as he did so. At first, the mare thought it was funny, so she laughed along with him... until something just didn't seem right. Soon the sun had come up enough for her to see the are around them, and she was excited about finally getting to see the ocean... but all she saw were trees. Confused, she looked back to the stallion, only to find he had turned to face her.

Now able to see him clearly, the purple mare found his coat to be the darkest of reds, nearly black in color within the shadows of the forest. "Where are we?" she asked him, unsure about this place. The stallion hadn't said much during their trip, but for some reason there was a smile on his face. Not just any smile, a dark, twisted grin that just didn't look right at all. "We're here. Were I wanted you to be", he told her coldly, that smooth voice of his had disappeared into something rough and harsh.

"But, I thought we were going to the ocean? You said you knew the way!" She protested. Something definatly wasn't right. The stallion spoke up once again, his voice harsher then before. "I did, didn't I? But that wasn't what I wanted. Now you'll have to live here in this haunted forest forever; for it will never let you leave. Unless... you bring someone else to take your place. Like I did", he chuckled once again, his dark red hide shimmering in the shadows of darkness. Before she knew it, he had blown past her to exit the forest, forever trapping the young purple mare inside.

Even though he had been nice to her, and promised to help her, the stallion had secretly wanted to use her for his own advantage.~

[~Library Tale~]

[.The Human Filly.]

~For as long as the ages could tell, Nequus and two-leggers spoke very different languages, one that could understand the other, and one that could not; thus communication was lost between the two races. Despite this though, they had gotten along fairly well with each other, if not a bit awkwardly in their encounters.

However, as time progressed and encounters between them grew fewer and fewer, for times for the Nequus were good, and food was as plentiful as far as the eye could see; the little communication and understanding between the two seemed to vanish altogether. Such a thing had allowed for uprisings within the human territory, like Nequus there were some who struggled for power and supermicy over the others. With the vanishing of the Nequus, many of them had grown to be un at ease with one another, believing it to be a bad sign to the world of Urin.

You see they had always been willing to help out their neighbors, the Nequus, and could not understand why none had come in such a long time. Feeling confused, a certain stallion of the group, with eyes and mane as dark as the pitchest of nights, one evening allowed for his fury to show. He shouted to the little gathering of the Human herd around him that the Nequus had abandoned them, and that the only way to bring peace back to their existance was to take control of the herd. With or without their concent.

It was on the quietest of mornings, with a gleeful sun just barely peaking over the ridge of Casa Tiner, that this stallion began his conquest. Stroding proudly on two-legs, as Humans do, he demanded the role of leader. However, when many of the herd elders disagreed, things turned a tad bit violent. It was a shock to the peaceful creatures, that such actions would be taken by such a rash youth, for he couldn'thave been any older then the youngest of fully grown stallions. He, with eyes black as the night sky, would neither allow anyone to leave or come without first asking his permission... which was few and far between. As of yet, the elders would not give up their position, but the herd was in trouble and believed it to be punishment of some sort for not trying to seak out the Nequus.

Despite this, there was one youth, a bright young filly who had always felt a bit out of place wherever she was. But her parents had always told her stories of the Nequus, how they were friendly and respected by the Humans, and how they use to always get food for the creatures. So when the herd fell into trouble, she couldn't quite believe it was punishment; and slipped away from the group to travel outside of their territory for the first time alone.

It was dark, very very dark, and the filly knew that sooner or later the stallion would know she was missing. And so, she hurried along as far as her two-legs could carry her, and as long as the little food she had brought would take her. When her time had nearly run out, and it seemed like she would sooner starve then find anyone to help her... she spotted an odd color off in the distance. Not only that, but she heard the chatter of a conversation not far off.

Unable to muster up the courage to approach, for fear of the unknown in the world of Urin, the filly called out in near desperation. It was a call she had never heard herself make before, as if another being had whispered into her ear what to say. Oddly enough, it had sounded quite alike to a Nequus' nicker.

Not far off, where two stallions stood chattering amongst themselves about the day and what not, the conversation suddenly came to halt. "You hear that?" One of them had spoken up, quite confused. The other, however, had been keeping an eye on the surroundings, and was rather interested in a figure he had seen off in the distance. "Yeah, I'm gonna go check it out. Cya later, Ajax", he had responded, eagerly trotting off with an indifferent flick of his multicolored tail.

The stallion, tall and slim with the elegant step of an Ichsa went off in search of the voice. It had sounded rather young distressed, which had him a bit worried that it might be one of his foals returning from its playtime game. The Ichsa stallion, with golden coat gleaming like the morning sun, found himself staring down at a rather unusual creature. "Two legs?" he had mused aloud, quite beside himself.

"I was only born with two", the filly spoke up, startled that such a creature could talk to her.

And of course, the Ichsa as well was startled, if not a bit frightened that a Human, creatures he was told about as a foal, could even understand him. As far as he knew, they were primative creatures that only understood gestures. Was this a trick? An illusionist many? Certainly, which put him into a foul mood after that. Ajax was always playing tricks like this on him. "Haha, very funny", he grumbled between his teeth, about to go pick a bone with the other Nequus. That had been one illusion too many.

Seeing her only chance of hope begin to turn around leave, the filly quickly put herself into the stallion's path, upper limbs stretched out in hopes of making him stop. "Please sir! I... I need your help. Something terrible has happened..." she pleaded, not quite sure how he could understand her, but not about to ask questions either.

Well, the Ichsa had had enough of this game, and planned on walking right through the illusion... only he didn't quite get to do that. The filly had been knocked down quite easily when his muzzle pushed into her chest, and that more then anything startled the poor Nequus. After some persuading, and believing on his part, he agreed to help the filly with her herd.

When they appeared back to the filly's home, they saw that most everything had gone to chaos. Humans were running around in mass confusion as it seemed a select few were trying to give orders. Having heard the tale the filly had to say to him, the Ichsa knew of the situation. Quite honestly, he had come from a disfunctional herd, and didn't quite like seeing this one. With head held high, and elegent wings stretched out in what could have been irratation, the stallion approached the masses.

Luckily for him and the filly, the mere sight of a Nequus was enough to startle the Humans out of what they were doing, as many elders praied for salvation, and others mercy from whatever forces had brought them into contact with the first Nequus in ages.

It was with the help of the young Human filly beside him to translate, that the Ichsa explained the situation with the Nequus and why they hadn't appeared in so very long. Not only did he do that, he promised to bring more Nequus back to visit the Human herd as often as possible; which helped calmed the nerves once more of the two-legged creatures.

Finally, the stallion with eyes and mane as black as the night sky, was the most relieved of the bunch. And though he stepped down from his tyranical rein, the elders of the herd still had to make sure nothing like that would ever happen again; and invited the Ichsa and the Nequus speaking filly to live amongst them, in hopes of keeping communication between the two races strong.~

[~Library Tale~]

[.Tucker's Bedtime Story.]

~Years and years ago, back when Urin- the world we live in now- was still new and young; there was a single white stallion with a golden horn and oddly feathered wings. Saaaay, he kinda looked like you! Only he was bigger, and much much older, like me.

Anyway, this white stallion was walking through a deep and sun-shiney valley one day, his whispy mane flowing around his neck as if it had a mind of his own. He had heard of a place far far away, a place that had many pretty young fillies, very beautiful girls, who all lived alone under a giant fruit tree. The white stallion was going to find these fillies, and hopefully find the love he was looking for. You see, love was the most precious, wonderful thing in the world, and whoever found it was considered very lucky among the other nequus. Lucky for us, the white stallion was a prince, a very important and very noble part of his herd.

His father the king had told him about this place, but he had also warned that there was a terrible, terrible monster that was also looking for the fillies. Now, the white stallion, whose name was Prince Puck, had to get there before the terrible terrible monster and warn the fillies of horrible danger.

Prince Puck had ran for days and days without stopping, until finally he came to what he thought must have been the biggest tree in all of Urin! But something very bad must happened here, because the tree looked very sad with all its leaves gone and its fruit scattered amongst the grass. 'Oh no! I'm too late!' he cried out of fear, but truth was he wasn't. From behind the tree stepped an old, skinny, thin mare with eyes dull and red from weeping. "No you're not! You must save them, save my children!' she told Prince Puck, and pointed him in the direction of a lonely lake not very far off. Just before the prince was about to run off to go save the fillies, the lonely mare spoke up once more, whispering very quietly. 'There is only one way to get rid of the monster. You must make him laugh.'

Prince Puck wasn't sure what she meant, but thanked her anyway and went charging over the hill; his golden horn shinning in the bright sun. He could see over the hill now, and looked down at the lonely lake. Out in the water five scared fillies huddled together, crying and wishing there was someone here to save them. Puck was about to go down there and see them, but suddenly something jumped out of the water.

A large, long, bright green monster, with eyes as red as blood slithered its way out of the lake, hissing at the fillies as if to frighten them more. But Prince Puck decided he must put a stop to this, and so he hid himself behind a tree and shouted: "Oolie Oolie Oxen-Free, not many can dare catch me!" The monster was surprised, and whipped its sleek head around, but he couldn't see anything.

'Who dares disturb me?!' it hissed.

Puck smiled at this, and shouted once more. "Only me, and only those who laugh can dare see me.'

The monster wasn't very smart, and wanted to see who the voice belonged too, so in order to do so the monster laughed- and almost instantly he vanished into thin air. Puck had made him laugh, and in doing so he had beat the monster and sent him back to his home in the center of the world, way way far down into the ground where he could never escape again.

Then the fillies ran up to him, laughing and giggling and thanking the prince for saving them from that horrible horrible monster. When they returned to the giant tree, one the fillies said 'I love you', and Prince Puck said 'I love you too', right back to the beautiful, pretty filly.

So Prince Puck had saved the fillies from the terrible green monster, and had found love: the most important thing in the world.~
