She was NOT going to speak to that insufferable stallion, not again. Therefore, much as much as she wanted to snap back at him with the venom he deserved, Ladius had come to the conclusion that this particular stallion's head was exceptionally dense; no matter what she said, he'd continue to see himself as the noble gentleman who had done nothing wrong. AS IF!
However, at least one thing had worked in her favor. As she walked, she could hear the sound of hoofbeats moving steadily in the other direction. Oh, so he was leaving, huh? Maybe this wouldn't be a total wash after all. One ear perked slightly, listening; at the same time she slowed slightly. Maybe she'd be able to salvage her rest out of this mess yet.

Sharp, cloven hooves beat the ground in a steady beat as he literally marched out of the area, feeling agitated enough to attack and destroy anything on sight; if it was that mare, then she completely deserved it! He had been polite, almost like a good gentlehorse (which he was not), but she threw it back at his face.
That damned mare was lucky he hadn't just killed her right then; it would have been his pleasure to feast on her tainted soul! When he got to a clear enough area, he drew forth his powerful black wings to gain momentum as he leaped into the air, catching a strong wind current as he flapped them to stride higher and higher.
He then began to circle around in the air to rise higher and higher, spotting the female as he rose. What? She stopped? She hadn't left the area? Of all the most insulting...! But no. He couldn't; he wouldn't. There was no point. Perhaps he would play a little game with her; try and scare her. Hm, that sounded like a fine idea...
He circled until he was above the clouds before diving at a rate that made him look like a blur, just before he landed he opened his wings to give him a soft landing as he came to an area about three acres away from where the mare was. It was payback time.

Perhaps other mares would have reacted more; but Ladius had already established that she was no match for the Kalona male. This didn't mean that she was going to be intimidated, not when she had reason to be pissed.
That said, she nowrather optimistically assumed at first that he had actually left. All she had wanted was to curl up and take a nap, but no, she had to encounter the most obnoxious kalona stallion ever. This was just not her day.
Still, it was looking up. Once she no longer heard hooves, she turned and looked around to see that there was no one in sight. Marvelous!

He struck. Like a rattle snake, he appeared in a dark flash, baring his teeth as his Kalona blood took over his logic. Windflame was one of the Kalona most affected by the bloodlust that was often mistaken as what made kalona evil. Some Kalona were purely that way with how they were raised, but many Kalona were only controlled by their bloodlust... at least, that's what Windflame believed. "Thou art dead meat, mare, for insulting this one so thoroughly without good reason!" he snarled.

Bloody hell, where had that over-tesosteronal nightmare been hiding? Ladius usually had pretty decent instincts, but he'd appeared out of nowhere so quickly that he'd been almost upon her before she had time to react. But as soon as she'd realized he wasn't gone, she'd dodged backwards, too practiced in fighting to not know the danger.
And indeed, there was danger; he was now even more bestial than before, with clear rage in his eyes. Damn it, why the hell couldn't she ever encounter DECENT stallions?
She didn't delude herself by thinking she could kick his a** like she usually did. Not a kalona. But damned if she was going to shriek and cry mercy; if she was going down, it would be with as many pieces ripped out of him as she could!
"Insulting? Maybe your memory is clouded, Stallion, but you started insultin me before I had even SEEN you? Yet you don't see me flying off the bloody handle now, do you?" Ego. She HATED ego. "Or did I just p***k your damn pride too much?"

Windflame was too caught up in the intensity of his bloodlust, because the excitement of tearing apart a creature had overwhelmed him. He hadn't eaten meat in over several months, and the drain was causing him to lose all sense of time and reason; he would hunt this mare to the ends of the Earth, or until he became exhausted, but that would only be if the mare in front of him had enough stamina to withstand him, even if she chose to fight or to run.
Either way, it was her own downfall. Her words fell on deaf ears as he smirked at her in a predatory way, stalking, circling her as his tongue licked his muzzle. He could not speak to her, for in his blood-wanting-crazed mind, all he could think about was the meat, and the soul, that he would soon devour. It was too bad he couldn't return to himself, really.

This was just not her day. Ladius had been in enough fights during her lifetime to know when she was in trouble, and now was definitely one of those times; the fact that the stallion hadn't so much as scowled in response to her words was a clear indication that he was beyond care of what she said; one look at the madness in his eyes was enough to confirm that belief. Damnation, why did she have to encounter the deranged ones?
Though she doubted she would have acted any differently, had she known he was one who let the fighting spirit consume even his mind. She might be in trouble, but it was because she'd stuck to her guns.
But having resigned herself to the inevitable facts of this encounter, she was through with waiting. As the stallion circled her, she critically scoped out his movement...then suddenly lunged, aiming at the back of his nearer foreleg with one sharp hoof. Knee or tendons, it didn't matter as long as she could throw him off balance.

If only the mare realized she was fighting against someone who was trained in the art of combat. Someone who had been trained since he was able to move, before he was able to learn to hunt for food. Instinctively, he ignored her attack on his leg, and continued to move as if he wasn't injured (though he was) as he snarled at her, eyes bleeding a dark red dangerously.
Fangs glistened sharply in the sunlight; tainted, but with no stains or signs of blood upon them. He stopped a certain distance from her and watched; just watched, just to see what she would try next. Windflame had never before fought with a mare with this much ferocity, but then again, he might as enjoy what he could. He began to move slowly, wings expanding to give him a swifter canter as he once more began to circle her, a maniacal grin adorning his usual calm, cold face.

Damnation take him, he didn't seem to be suffering at all! Not that she was terribly surprised; when one was in the heat of battle, to allow oneself to be distracted by the inevitable injuries one received was to hasten one's own demise. But it would have been nice to see him flinch all the same.
Having completed her attack, she'd immeadiately moved back away from the stallion, lessening the chance of a counterattack. But he hadn't seemed to care, had simply resumed circling with that blasted smirk of his. Apparently he felt like toying with her...but she wasn't going to let that get to her, not now. Best to take advantage of his cockiness while she could.
Brown eyes darted about the kalona's form, looking for weak points. She was drawn to his wing joints first; had he been a wind, she already would have made her move on them to hamper his flight capabilites. But she'd never tried biting through a kalona's joint before, and doubted it would be as easy as the thinly membraned feathered wings of a wind. Best to not try it, not while he was otherwise sound.
Another leg? Possible, but she'd have to make it worthwhile. And how, when he had his wings up, blocking her?
All these thougts zipped through her mind in seconds, though it seemed like much longer. Then she decided on a course of action, a bit radical for this early in the fight but the best option at the moment. All at once, she lunged again, feinting at his foreleg again before switching direction and diving under the kalona's body, lashing out at his hind legs as she passed beneath him. Once again, being smaller had it's perks!

Her next attack was surprising, but not new. She wasn't the first to try that maneuver, and although the pain put a shock through his mind, he just continued to sweep around her, taunting her. He wasn't yet tired, and although blood dribbled down his hind legs, he ignored it; he knew no pain--not physically--and merely smirked at her again. What did she think she could do to hurt him? He was immune to anything physically; a true warrior.
Even as he knew she would try for his wings later, it would do nothing. He wasn't about to fly from her; that would make him appear cowardly and seem as if he'd been beaten by a female. Doing so, he closed his wings around his body, now standing his ground as he laughed a cruel, evil laugh, now staring at her, still not saying a word. She could bite, kick, slash, anything at him, and he wouldn't flinch. He'd had much worse, though his black fur coat hid the scars of his younger days.

If it wasn't for the bloody condensation that had brought this fight on, Ladius could very well have found herself admiring the stallion. In fact, even as she sized him up for her next attack she couldn't help but admire the stallion's prowess.
A fighter herself for basically all her life, Ladius had always respected and admired others that took fighting seriously, and among the few stallions she respected were those that were willing to fight and prove their mettle. This kalona, for all his lack of a direct attack, was fielding her attacks with such carelessness she knew he could dish it out like an expert.
But good fighter or no, now was not the time to give compliments, not when her life was on the line. Which meant it was time for action.
Three legs she'd gunned for and hit, but with nothing to show for it but three trails of blood. She should have gone for his groind when she was under him instead; she doubted even a stoic kalona would have been able to ignore THAT pain.
She smirked a bit at the thought, but continue to watch her circling foe. Hrm..
Another idea came to her, and she lunged once again. This time, her target seemed to be his withers...or not. Lashing out with one leg, she made a move on the long braid of his mane. If she could just get that wound around her leg, she'd give him a yank she doubted he'd forget soon!

Deep within his locked up logical mind, Windflame couldn't help but admire that such a mare was so skilled with the martial arts, to be able to inflict the wounds she did on him, even as he bled. She had also impressed him that she had yet to truly--oh no. She just did not do what he just saw her do. Oh no. She most certainly DID NOT just do what he just saw her do! Absolutely NO ONE was ALLOWED to TOUCH his BRAID without a PUNISHMENT!!!
Snarling angrily as the mare went for his mane, he immediately lashed out at her with a ferocious, quick attack from his sharpened blood-red colored hooves. He seemed to be saying something as he snarled, but it was in an ancient language that would more than likely only be understood by other Kalona, and from the way he had gone crazy, Windflame snapped at her dangerously before he backed off, his wings flaring wide just before he reared and roared uproariously, bending his head down, his horns gleaming sharply.
...He charged. Using his ears to hear where she would come from, listening for hooves or breath, he gained speed as he slowly began to pull in his wings towards his body to do so, nearly becoming a black blur with how fast he was going.

Damnit, she'd known it was only a matter of time before he lashed out, but she'd been hoping she'd have more time. Consequently, the first slice of hoof through flesh was much sharper in her mind than such attacks usually were, especially when she was fighting for her life.
She'd swung back, attempting to dodge the hoof but not completely succeding, feeling the sharpened enamel slice across her flank. Time to think...and think fast.
Watching him charge towards her, it was a true panic moment; if she had been made of softer stuff, then she would have undeniably had a hysterical breakdown right then and there. Instead, she tensed and crouched, ignoring the trickle of blood down her leg and focusing entirely on the charging kalona. Focusing in his legs...on his hooves...
And then, completely ignoring the horns and teeth, she flung herself down, diving at his racing feet. If she could execute this correctly...

He was now focused and determined to go for the kill. Soquilis like this one had not died by his hooves for the reason of him showing off; oh no, it wasn't even a matter of pride anymore. The scent of the mare's blood was making him dizzy with the desire to taste it... embrace it... salvage it.
In other words, devour the mare entirely just to satisfy his blood-lust, so that he could return to himself. He wasn't evil; he really never could be. But he had an uncontrollable lust for blood where his Kalona curse would always overpower his conscious, calculating mind.
Almost as if he had a split personality, but that didn't define him. He was a deadly graceful creature, like a vampire, with deathly beauty... if one could call a stallion like him that. And then the mare executed a move that took him by surprise for the first time in a long while.

It hadn't been a complete success. As she rolled beneath the huge kalona, Ladius could feel the slight lurch as he lost his balance, but he failed to fall as she'd hoped. Still, she wasn't going to write off what had been at least somewhat of a success, even if she'd bruised her bones in the process. She'd probably done more than that, actually, if the throb in her side was any indication, but there was no time to think about that now.
Feeling the stagger, she swiftly finished through on her move, kicking at the tendons of his front legs as she rolled out from under him and whirling around to face him. This time she'd been lucky, but there was no telling how he'd react...and she didn't mean to give in yet!
