FF VII is my favorite game but it would be understandable that others would not like it because of its graphics. But is it enough to hate it? If someone outright hated it then they are no fan of Final Fantasy.

of course you can like final fantasy and not be aFF7 fan...there are so many FF games you dont have to like all of them...hell I love FF7, FF10, FFX2, and FF12...but i hate 8 and 9

ff7 is what really started the series becouse it was the firsst 3d game in the series so no i dont think it is

Thonek It's possible. FF7 did have one of the most depressing story line compared to the rest. Wrong that honour goes to Final Fantasy 6. You have played Final Fantasy 6 right? Yes off course you can be a fan without liking 7. I also agree that if you just like 7 you are not a final fantasy fan.

Amylin I know of many that love FF but hated 7. Just like how you can love FF and hate 8, 9, 10, or 10-2, etc. I do think though you can't be a FF fan without at least trying the original games... you know... the ones before 7. pirate exactly.

Because of the more dark atmosphere, a lot of gamers, who are probably used to the Disney happy endings, would be uncomfortable with FF7.
I love FF7 because it made me more happy than a Disney ending would've made me. ^ ^

I know a person who absolutely loves 8 but not 7. And I don't really like 8, but I will play it...just for the heck of it.
So, yes, you CAN be a fan. Just like you can be a fan of...say...InuYasha, even if you've only seen 1 episode of the anime or half a manga.
Just how I'm a fan of Fruits Basket after watching the whole anime series, but I've only read the first manga.
Same basic concept.

I think you can definitely be a fan of FF and not like 7. Just like there are fans of FF who hate X-2 its just a preference thing. Some people love 8 and some dont like it all that much but you can be a fan of the series without loving all the differnt aspects of it.
