"Actually," she said nonchalantly as she ascended, "I came to tell you just such a thing. We've got some one we want to get out of here, and maybe between the two of you, you boys can figure a way out..." Lae smiled as she shut the door at the top of the stairs behind her.

Some one to meet. Would he be babysitting two or would this other person be of some help in their escape? Considering that even women like Lae still thought of him as somewhat inferior, it was probably a woman that she was sending to help him out of Feretris.

Prothel smiled. He knew that Lae considered him inferior, though she was fully aware of what he could do. He decided it best to just send the boy up with her and go to sleep, plotting his next few moves and happily entertaining the thoughts of visiting the Anjts again.

When Prothel woke up, Lae was standing over him and calling his name. When she saw that he was awake, the annoyed scrunch of her brow did not loosen. "Prothel. There's been an attack to the west of us. We don't know who's started it, but we believe that the attackers will be beaten back by dawn."

Prothel could bet that Lae had more information that that, that perhaps she was even lying to him about her knowledge of the attackers. Her policy seemed to be that too many details would overwhelm a poor male like himself. That she told him this much underscored the urgency of the situation; she told him enough to avoid an argument, to convey danger and immediacy.

"You must leave. We cannot wait for teh other one to arrive." She meant that salve that she had mentioned earlier, the one that he was to have met. "Take the boy. This incident will create a lot of trouble for us when security is increased in the area. Leave while the soldiers are diverted. You know the way?" The women had gone over maps with him before, but they didn't have one that he could keep for himself.

"Of course I know, I'm not as dumb as you think." Prothel nonchalantly muttered, still groggy from a restless sleep. With the sense of urgency she was portraying, he knew it was time to go. "Geffry. Boy, come on, it's time for us to depart." As he got up and put on his robes, he looked at Lae with a bit of concern. "Are you going to be OK? You know if they find out you've been hiding me here, it won't go over well with the government."

Not really waiting for an answer, Prothel started packing up, still daydreaming about life in the plains.

Lae wouldn't tell him if she was afraid for herself any way. She let him go with vague reassurances about how they would be fine. Getting caught was one thing, but getting caught and having all your work destroyed, as it would be if Prothel was caught, was quite another type of unbearable.

The night was strangely overcast with a diffusion of irregular light from the battle and with the torches of strangers hurrying down the street closer to them. Until they were into the woods it would be possible to carry their own light without risking undue notice. Because of all the bustle, Geffry practically clung to Prothel from guidance. With the whole world going to hell about them, with his traiditional home suddenly violated when he had thought it inviolate, he would follow any one who had an idea of where to go. It kept down feelings of panic, rushed shallow breath and cold clammy sweat, to be doing more than nothing, and hopefully to be moving away from the danger by doing so.

They reached the woods unmolested, yet the woods themselves seemed occupied by unexplainable sounds and occassional sightings of movement. Of course, the forest creatures weren't a bit happy. But it seemed more than that.

“Horses?” Geffry whispered uncertainly. He had a keen enough ear for the beasts, so that an impatient huff did not escape him.

(OOC: please post in The Anjts Support thread as that is who you are about to meet up with now wink )

"Hurry, Geffry, time is a factor," Prothel seemed a little winded as he pointed Geffry to the nearest horse and jumped on the farther one. He hastily, and a bit sloppily, casted a spell to boost the horses running speed and they were off. Prothel was in deep thought throughout most of the ride and though his eyes were opened, it was like he was in a trance or sleep while the horse steered itself.

Nevertheless, they moved with great speed, Prothel's wish to get to familiar territory before anything bad happened. Suddenly though, he stopped the 2 horses and stared back at their route, towards the Eldic Estates. Though he was sure that Geffry was more than a little panicked, he couldn't help the pure and simple fact that he needed to address now.

"We've been followed"

Lae caught at Tesunie's shoulder's with a quick breath that conveyed urgency. "Found you!" she gasped. "Come with me!"

Poor Tesunie, what with the mysterious fires off in the distance and his relatives scrambling about without much explanation to him, he would have no idea what his aunt was talking about. His was not privy to the knowledge of who was and who wasn't of the more radical ideologies of the underground, if he had even figured out that it existed. As far as he knew he lived a normal slave live, doing simple chores around the house and obeyed those around him with his helpful demeanor.

Sure, he had heard his relatives sometimes say strange things to him about how men weren't all that bad, which seemed to conflict with what visitors and even other relatives said. But he was about to hear something much stranger. Once the doors to the stable were closed behind them and Lae had a hand on a horse's bridle, she said, "You're going to leave the country. I will show you the way. Hurry!"

"I'm gonna go where?" Tesunie had a look of confusion on his face. His cloths were still of pristine condition. He always seemed to have gotten better clothing than the other slaves. Then again, he knew who his mother and father were, another oddity he has learned about himself. "I have never ridden a horse before." He tried to clumsily get onto the horse provided for him. He managed to get on after a few tries. "What is happening?"

After seeing him mount so poorly, Lae decided to mount behind in front of him and take only one horse.

"I'm going to bring you to... to a friend of mine. And you'll follow him wherever he goes and do whatever he says, alright?" she demanded as she led them out of the barn. The abrupt gallop excited the horse but startled their seat. Lae hoped that he was holding on.

Tesunie, unsure of what is happening so far, just holds on tight to her and the horse. He was determined to stay on. His arms may have squeezed her a bit though as he just panicked and grabbed to whatever seemed to be solid.
"Alright." Tesunie says, his eyes shut, trusting her.
(Assuming you are on the same horse. I think you are if I read that last post right.)

(That's right 3nodding )

Lae wasn't about to be offended in the middle of such a panicking situation. She'd rather feel a little squeezed than have the boy fall off and break and arm.

"I can't believe you've never ridden a horse," she gruffed as they made a hard turn that pulled them both to the left. Lae wasn't one of the relatives that he saw the most of. In fact, she had seemed entirely bored by him in the past.

There wasn't much to be seen, going so fast, but sounds of confusion followed them.

With Prothel's lead and his boost on the horse's speed, their ability to follow him was hindered, their path wiggling all over the place as they at least headed in the right dirrection-- towards the woods. As they passed under the first tree branch they slowed drastically to get their bearings.

(Just let me know when to change threads.)

"I never needed to! I just stayed at home all the time. I was never allowed to go outside. Family always said that it wasn't safe for people like me out there." Tesunie over comes his fear of the new experience, talking to her helped distract him, at least untill the next turn came up.

After a while he did loosen his grip on her. "Where are going? I don't recognize this place. Is this the forest?"

"Shh!" she commanded tersely, but the woods had already heard his loud statement. Well, whoever was ahead of them had to know that they were there now.

Lae cleared her through. "Show yourself!" she said as she came closer to the two ahead. Prothel might even recognize her voice.

(Let Dark respond smile I think he went to bed though >.>)

"Good, it's you," said Prothel with a sigh of relief. He was happy to know she was all right, though he wouldn't show it in his face. "Who is your companion, Lae? You didn't tell me we weren't riding alone." He seemed a little discomforted by the presence of the young slave, an a feeling that felt even stranger to him than many he had felt before. He again tried to hide any excess emotion, as he didn't want Geffry to worry.

"I mentioned another slave coming with you before. Tesunie, take the reigns." Of a sudden, Lae slipped of the horse in a smooth dismount. "Your horse will follow them on its own."

Lae sidled up to Prothel's horse, looking as if she meant to share something private with him. But instead, as she passed the horse's rump, Prothel heard a loud slap, and Lae shouted, "Go!"

The horse reared a few inches off of the ground, luckily not a full rear, and shot forward at what would seem a reckless speed with so many trees. Tesunie's horse picked up on the excitement and hazarded into a sprint after the other horse's lead.
