XD Nice KrystalFish.
Animal Farm was the first book centered around animals that I liked. I tried Redwall once and those animals scared me for some reason. It was also the first allegorical book I read. Allegorical things are cool biggrin

I've only read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Scarlet Letter. I liked Mark Twain's book because it was mildly entertaining and humorous. It was also adventurous. ^_^ I'm not a big fan of The Scarlet Letter...
I hope no one minds but I recommend Tuesdays with Morrie if you've heard of it. It's by Mitch Albom (spelling might be off).

Adversative *Love* Shirley Jackson, read almost everything she's ever written (I haven't gotten my hands on a copy of The Bird's Nest or Come Along With Me yet). Read a few Octavia Butler books, but haven't had time lately to track down more. I've read Huck Finn, Scarlet Letter, and Animal Farm. Not a huge Scarlet Letter fan -- the only Hawthorne I really like is "Rappacinni's Daughter". I just wanted to say that i love the quote you have by Charles Bukowski

I read The Scarlet Letter and Huck Finn, and I liked them both. Although, in all honesty I liked Huck Finn more for its analytical aspects than the actual plot line. (ps I also really liked Rappacinni's Daughter ^_^)

I haven't read Man on Fire, The Scarlett Letter, or The Red Badge of Courage.
I have read all the others though. I wasn't huge on Animal Farm, Canterbury Tales or Huckleberry Fin, but mainly because i was not only forced to read them but to disect(sp?) them and find meanings i didn't care about xp I like to read for the story, not the meaning behind it unless i feel like it.
I dunno about ya'll but I read for fun mostly.
I absolutely loved Beowulf.
Has anyone read the book, oh who's it by....hrmm...can't remember...it's called Grendel. It's from the Monster's POV in the Beowulf story.

The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer Animal Farm by George Orwell The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane Beowulf Man on Fire by AJ Quinnell Any of the books by Shirley Jackson or Octavia E. Butler So, have you? What did you think? Did you like them? I did ^_^...except I never finished The Canterbury Tales and Beowulf. Need to do that... I read canterbury tales for school. it was okay. not really my style though. I hated beowulf, really hated it, couldnt finnish it.

Man, Boewulf rocked. Mostly because of my teacher--imagine a tiny Greek lady hopping around the classroom with a plastic sword yelling about dragons and sea monsters in some strange, Chinese-French accent, beating anyone who dared inturrupt her and getting so excited she'd knock down the podium and not even notice 'till later.
Yep.

I've only read Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain and The Scarlett Letter for my Lit. class. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was pretty good, but it was long and having to fill out worksheets for each chapter made it really tedious to read. I hated The Scarlett Letter though. I couldn't wait to finish it. My friend and I decided that it's the original soap opera. Actually, I don't think anyone in the class liked it, even the teacher. It was just a required book.
