[.Vicodin.Dreams.] pinkxchiffon No, a 200 pound girl isn't going to look nice in lolita, because she's probably not healthy. D: Uhm. I'm a 218 lb girl. [Down from 230, yay] I think I look nice in lolita. Sure, I'm not perfect, but that doesn't mean I don't look decent. Nobody's perfect. I'm sure you're beautiful. I should've exaggerated more on the weight thing-- reflecting on it, 200 pounds isn't so much. Maybe morbidly obese...? Oh, I don't know. Someone shut me up. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, though. I hate doing that inadvertantly. 3

BabyEaterLad (o___O) I didn't mean it in a mocking way, I was proving that larger girls can be and are cute in lolita. Edit: And I use fattie-chan in a loving way as I am one as well. x: I just find the term "fat" is usually applied to someone who isn't actually fat. Either way in my personal opinion I don't find anything wrong with someone being overweight, frankly I prefer it when it comes to the opposite sex. I always liked how in old paintings the 'perfect' woman was portrayed as curvy, and some may say, somewhat overweight. I think that's how it should be, not these 30lb magazine models.

The person who wrote the article sounds kinda racist (Did I spell that wrong?I forget how to spell that one word sometimes sweatdrop )
It shouldnt matter what race or weight you are!I mean its not right to say "Oh you cant dress like this cuz' you dont weigh *insert weight here*!" or "Oh your not *insert race here*" mad

Mmm..I can speak from a personal note here that I'm not a stick either..but it's also just my genetics. I admit I don't excercise alot ((winter is a very hard time for me to do so, especially with not having everyday of the week with a 2 hour soccer practise)) I have lost some weight recently. ((Size XL-Med in shirts and 15-13 in jeans ^_^))
Regarless, anyone who puts effort into it will look pretty decent in lolita! Some of us just have to look for specific things that will be unflattering. I say that the person who wrote that article should be ripped a new one though. That's pretty stupid, and if they think that they really didn't get the whole point and additude of lolita.

XD Excuse me for finding the term "Fatty-chan" to be absolutely adorable.
the girl pictured was so damn cute....gotta love a little squishyness!
I believe that as long as you're at a healthy weight for your height (maybe a few pounds heavier would look cuter too) you will look fine in Lolita. Health should always be stressed over skinniness.
my extremely late 2 cents. rofl

Hmm... I feel sorry for whoever wrote that article... Even though I fit in what he/she classes as a Lolita, I don't see why you would have to look identical to someone like me (who is unable to gain weight or some unknown reason, although I would like to know) just to be accepted as a Lolita...
Oh well! For everyone out there. Don't bother with the narrow-minded views of others! You are Lolita, no matter your waist size, your nationality, or any other predetermined specification.

That is annoying. People don't need to be thin to be anything, or have to buy expensive clothes. I'm...thin...and whenever I see my friends try to do "punk", I don't go off on them and say "You're fat and you only shop at Hot Topic!"

I think that Lolita has nothing to do with the way someone is: girl or boy, young or old, thin or fat, its where your interests lay not how you look (and like anyone could make the choice to be born a boy or girl anyway). If you like Lolita and you feel good in it, then wear it, no mater what others say or write.
I'm a boy, I'm not very thin, and I plan to wear Lolita, no mater what others say!

at first reading this i began to feel really bad about myself again, saying a 200 lb girl can't look cute in lolita? i dont think so..Some of us cant help it how much we weight its in our genetics.. if i could change that belive me i desprately would. I found the lolita fashion to be a way i could come to terms with my weight by wearing clothes i found lovely and begin to think i could look nice in.
Im a size 12 but i do wear size a 14 for comfort purposes. i am curvy and have an hourglass figure i do have a bit of a tummy but seeing posts liek this from other members really makes my heart sink. I know some of you probably meant really unhealthy girls but not all 200 lb girls are unhealthy.
I really hope one of these days more people will be open to the idea that us bigger girls are pretty too..

lolita is a fashion, not a group of stores/brands.
also, it started from EUROPEANS. As its been said, if anyone shouldn't be wearing lolita, it's asians. No offense.
I'm size 5, but I don't really look skinny at all @ _ @;;; and I think I don't look that horribly eye-clawing. But looking nice in lolita is a case-by-case thing. You could be skinny as a stick, but still look bad, and weigh over 200 pounds and look great.

"Gah. Angry D:<" is about all I can think of. (Complete sentences didn't work for me right then.)
As someone who is "fat", I'm kind of saddened by that, too.. :[ Kind of a big slap to the face. "So yeah, even if you actually get to the weight you've been trying to achieve for about two and a half years now, you're not Japanese, and you're still probably too fat. Oops, you lose."
Ugh. cry
Edit: About thirty seconds after I posted this, a friend of mine told me about a girl she knew in middle school.
Apparently the girl gained a lot of weight and was very depressed after her parents divorced. They sent her to therapy. No one liked her at school. etc..
She weighed 160 lbs in 8th grade.
The girl now has a hole in her esophagus from self-induced vomiting, is on a feeding tube, and hasn't eaten real food in 46 days.
My friend sent me a picture of this once friend. This was a picture on the girl's myspace, and it's scary. She's still camera whoring half naked, almost all bone, and with a visible feeding tube.
I hate when people feel the need to do that to themselves. Usually it's because someone's opinion, whom they care about, was that (s)he wasn't good enough the way (s)he was.. So he or she will change him/herself. A lot.
That is horrendous, really.
Sorry this is so long D:
