Hayate followed Janja, then took note of when she stopped, what was pretty? "Hmmm..." he pondered, what type of thing would his mommy like? "Flowers maybe? Like, really interesting pretty colored flowers? Do you know where any of those might be Janja?" he asked with a smile and a flick of his tail. He was having fun already.

"If it keepts getting drier the farther we go, we're bound to find some interesting flowers," Janja glanced back and fourth between Hayate and the path they were taking, "We'll keep an eye out!"
With a grin she picked up the pace again, but weaved around more as she looked for some flowers.

Hayate smiled and watched as Janja picked up the pace. His ears perked up adn he ran after her, trying to keep up and not smacking into a tree or bush at the same time. His green eyes kept moving as he did, trying to catch the image of a pretty flower somewhere. He knew that he would have to start heading home soon, or his mother would get worried. But he did want to bring something back to her.

With a new purpose to her explorations, Janja was much more keen on her current activity. If Jedi was more apt to adventure, and Ekevu less apt to try to explain everything and demonstrate superiority, the cub might have more such pleasing adventures!
Janja's luck, however, did not keep up with her as she made an attempt at a leap over one particularly stuck up tree root. With a gasp she tumbled over the root and a short distance away on the dry ground. Landing rather uncomfortably, she paused only briefly to wonder what happened so suddenly before righting herself and shaking the dust from her dark fur. Her parents would certainly be able to tell she'd been somewhere dusty when they saw her!
"Wow," she mumbled, looking back at the tree she tripped over.

Hayate bounded after Janja but then she disappeared over a rather large tree root. "Janja?!" he called, peering up at the large root. To big for him to jump over, hmm, perhaps if he tried to climb over it? He wriggled his bottom and jumped, clasping onto it, then hauling himself over the top. Hayate then rolled over to the ground on the other side.
"Janja, you ok?" he asked with concern in his voice, he didn't want her to be hurt at all!

Janja looked back to the root as Hayate climbed over it and realized how surprising it was she even made it as far over as she did. Perhaps confidence paid off in some situations! When her friend came over and sounded so concerned about her, she offered a smile and stood up- only to find herself a little less stable than before she'd tripped and one back leg in particular a bit sore.
"I'm fine," she said brightly, despite the wobble and a slight wince.
It was while looking back that she noticed that just on the other side of the tree she tripped over, there were some strange looking plants there. She blinked and leaned over to try to get a better look- perhaps they'd found some flowers after all.
"Look," Janja nodded.

Hayate peered over to where Janja was looking. SO strange they were! Hayate got a cub like smile on his maw and smiled so bright, "Come on lets go see!" he said with a leap and he bounded towards them. He landed in some leaves that were rather large, some plants so much bigger then he was. But the colors! So pretty! Surely Janja could help him pick out something for his mother, surely Janjga could!
"Janja, which do you think my mommy will like?" he asked pointing with his paw towards a group of brightly colored flowers.

Janja tried to follow Hayate to the flowers with the same enthusiasm but found that her leg was not as enthusiastic as she wished it to be. With a flinch, she limped over to the big, bright flowers after her friend. They were quite different than the ones that Nac and she had used to make necklaces!
"I don't know," she murmured, looking over the flowers, "What color does your mum like? Which one reminds you of her?" Janja now understood what Hayate was doing, that he was looking for something for his mother! It was a good idea, and she decided she would mimic it.

"I'm not sure..." Hayate said, sniffing the flowers as he walked around them carefully, noting their delicate structure. He wrinkled his nose and sneezed. Some of them smelled quite strange. His green eyes settled on a bright purple and pink pettled one, it had yellow in the inside. He wriggled his tail and smiled and looked to Janja, "Do you think she would like this one? I can't see another one like it here..." Hayate said peering around.
Hmm, perhaps it was special?

Janja watched him examine the flowers for a moment before starting her own search for one for her mother. She was inspecting some of the odd smelling flowers when Hayate found his pink and purple one, and looked over to the one he gestured to.
"Wow, it's really pretty! I bet she'd love it," she beamed at him, and after a short, polite delay she resumed her own nosing through the flowers. She soon settled on a pretty white flower, and looked back to Hayate.
"I found one too. It's not as unique as yours, but I bet my mum will like it," Janja beamed, and leaned down and bit the flower stem loose. It was now obvious that she intended to do the same thing Hayate did, but she didn't think he'd mind at all.

Hayate smiled, "Then both our moms will be happy and will smile!" he said with excitement, he craned his neck forward to grasp the flowers stem in his mouth and gently pick it up. Yes, this would be perfect and would make his mother happy.
He would do something his siblings haven't thought of yet!
He peered around with his green orbs, then up to what sky he saw through the canopy above him, and his ears fell back, he would have to go soon. But they would have to get back from where they first stumbled upon eachother so he could get home alright. "Jangra, dru you thrink you crould help me get brac to where wre found eachother?" he asked while holding the flower, so it didn't come out too clearly. He hoped she understood.

Janja beamed happily at Hayate, nodding enthusiastically to show her agreement with his statement. It was easier to gesture than to talk with a flower in your mouth, as Hayate proved with his request. She wrinkled her nose, smiling, as she tried to figure out what he said. She caught most of it, she thought, so she offered another affirmative nod.
"Okray!" she said, giggling at her own odd pronounciation. The little lioness went around the tree, the opposite way they'd initially gone- thus they avoided the annoying root. With a short glare back at the root, she started back the way they came.
"This 'ay," Janja called.

Hayate followed after her, avoiding the root and watching his footing. Last thing he needed was to fall and ruin the pretty flower he wanted to give his mother. It would be such a surprise for her, he knew she would love it. Though he was saddened by one thing, his time with his new friend Janja would soon be over.
That made him not want to leave at all.

Janja led the way quite contently, not realizing that by going home they would be separated. She was happy to just think about how she was taking a flower home to her mummy, and how Hayate was taking one to his. How pleased their mothers would be.
"Which way d'yoo go?" she asked, looking back at him as they got closer to where they met.

Hayate stopped when they got to the place where they met, and pointed with his paw, "Thwat way..." he looked in teh direction, then back at Janja. Least he could say good bye, perhaps even see her again. "I'rll miss you..." he gave her a slight snug against her cheek and began to pad away home, but not before looking back and waving with a smile.
He would see her again.
He was sure of it.
