Mecca regarded her for a moment and finished his water. "All right." he said standing and crossing to place the cup on the side. "So we need decorations and presents" He gave her a brief smile and called Scim over to attatch his rope leash. "Shall we go then? If you want to get a nice tree?"

Covet smiled brightly once more and bounced a little as he finally accepted her answer and even gave her a smile. As he hooked Scim up to his lead, she went to grab her shawl and wrapped it around her with excitement. This had always been a big thing for her and Matty, but she was -really- excited to be sharing it with Mecca this time.
"Not just a nice tree, the -best- tree. It has to be the best," she smiled and reached out to slip her arm through his.

It was quite a plesant morning out. Clear blue skies and crisp morning air. "Of course we'll have the best tree." He said as they walked down the path towards the market. "If I am going to be forced to celebrate this I think it is only fair we have the best." He smirked and looked at the port. It was different. There were decorations everywhere and a large tree on the side of the docks, close to the market. He couldn't believe that he had missed it all. "Do you know where they sell good trees?"

Covet smirked and squeezed his arm as she looked up at him. "You're not being forced to celebrate. You don't have to if you don't want to. But you will be forced to put up with me celebrating," she smiled and looked out at all of the festive decorations. Again, excitement filled her and she couldn't wait to get the holidays started. She'd even have to get a few extras for Martiya, she thought happily. Nodding at his question, she began to pull on him a little to make him hurry his usual stride.
"They're just behind that big tree. Off to the side of the vegetable stalls," she replied, leading him in that direction.

Mecca followed her to the tree stall and looked over the minature green forest that spread out before them. He rather liked the smell of them, it was earthy, like forests. "O.k, they all look the same." He said pulling Scim back before he decided to christen one of the trees. "Which would you say is the best?"

"It's got to be full, no large holes in the branches or anything. Um... healthy and not too big, but not too small either," she smiled as she let him go and started to wander through the temporary fir forest, running her fingertips over the branches of trees as she passed them. She breathed in their fresh scent and a warm smile slipped over her lips. She truly loved this time of the year. Shu always seemed to be a bit happier and nicer and she loved to give gifts to the ones she loved. She'd have to think of something really good to give Mecca after everything he had done for her, she thought as she inspected one tree fairly closely before leaving it to go to another one.

Mecca stood back and watched her as she searched for her perfect tree. "Tell me when you've found one." He said stepping away from the trees and glancing around some of the other stalls to get an idea of what to get her for a present. Maybe something exotic and pretty. She'd like that.

After what probably seemed like an eternity, Covet finally found the -perfect- tree. Waltzing up to the vender she flashed him her very best smile and asked him how much for it. Batting her eyelashes at him and listening to his lame joke with her trained laughter, she managed to talk him down in his price. Smiling brightly, she told him not to sell it and bounced off to find Mecca.
"I found it," she smiled happily, slipping her arm through his and starting to drag him back towards the tree. "I managed to talk him down in price too," she smirked and winked up at him. "But I want you to see it first before I give him the money."

Mecca smirked and followed her to the man who was selling the trees. Trying to get into the spirit of things he ran his fingers gently over the delecate needles. "I like it." he said turning to face her. "It looks perfect, well, I assume."

Covet bounced a little in her happiness and just barely managed to restrain herself from kissing his cheek. She knew he wasn't terribly keen on receiving public affection, but she was really starting to get excited. Her first Christmas away from Matty and 'Veronica' and Mecca's first Christmas ever. She was going to have so much fun. Quickly handing the vendor his money, she made arrangements for the tree to be delivered to their home. Looking up at Mecca once all the arrangements were taken care of, she squeezed his arm gently.
"Now we can go shopping for the other decorations?" she asked.

Mecca watched all the excited Shu bustling around and squeezed her arm. There were so many the child Shu's seemed to be having the most fun. "So what do we use to decorate the tree?" He asked as he glanced around the different stalls. "Jewels? or food?" He was actually genuinely interested. The whole atmostphere of the market seemed to be buzzing.

"Well... both of a sort," she smiled as her eyes roamed over the myriad of stalls, keeping an eye out for something he might like, though she suspected she might have to his shopping in the back streets.
"Matty and I would always hang candy canes and glass beads and ornaments from the branches.... Like these," she smiled and pulled him over to one of the stalls that had a wide selection of various styles and colors of glass ornaments. "What's your favorite color?" she asked him brightly.

Mecca looked over the pretty things on the stall and thought about her question. His favourite colour. Colour was not something her usually spent a lot of time thinking about. Smiling he looked back at her and then to the different ornaments. "Purple." He said, giving another sideways glance at her hair and then back to the stall. "Does that work?"

Covet blinked a little at his answer, then turned her attention back to the ornaments. "That's perfect," she smiled. "Now pick which ones you like. And you -have- to do this. This is -our- tree so you have to help me," she smiled up at him and reached out for a dark red ornament with an elaborate pattern cut into it. "We'll get a few and then I'll think of a way to make some more. Maybe if you're really nice you'll help me with that too," she smiled to herself as she reached for another red one.

Mecca picked up the different ornaments, examining them carefully. The tones of their colours and the designs on them. They really were quite beautiful. He chose one that was silver, one a deep green with deep red patterns on it. Smirking he handed them to Covet and looked at the colourful sweets. "I might have some things in the shop that might work." He said as he picked up a gingerbread shu. "No bones or voodoo dolls I promise."
