My first day of Band Camp (Marching Band) was okay.... All of us newbies sat at the back of the room... Mr. Zook (our band director) interduced us... Then torture began... They took of us newbies outside and taught us to march... Forward, Backward, to the right, to the left, in a marching block, all in 8 to 5... Then we got together with older kids... And learn to march with the other kids.... To this day... The other newbie grades have yet to learn that much in one day...... Mr. Zook still says that we learn to march the fastest.... Now I never said we were the best grade he has... We just learned so much in one day.....

my first day of marching band was on Aug. 16, 2004(my freshmen year). it was a half day of school and we had to go to all of our classes. i went, told my teacher who i was, what instrument i played and where i came from...he wasn't all to happy at the fact that another tenor sax. player was here!!!!! at 3pm that day i had volleyball tryouts and i got hurt...well i had band rehersal right after that at 6-9pm. my volleyball tryouts went from 3-5pm. i had less than an hour to get ready. i hurt my ankle at volleyball and i could barely walk to my car and go home. when i got back to school, i still could barely walk. i told my instuructor about everything and he said i wouldn't have to learn how to march until i was better. my ankle is still hurt. that night, one of our drum majors deciedes to teach me how to march even though i am on the "hurt list". she could see that i wan't doing very well...so we just watched the others practice a part of the show. well i do play tenor sax. and all the saxs had sectionals after that little bit so i got to meet the rest of them...the tenor section leader was really cute and he became my second crush, the first had been a senior...he taught me everything about being a marching tenor and i guess it was okay. our band went up to winning everything in all catagories and being 2nd in the state for pep band...(if u do research on who we are, try illinois and look up pep band-high school, you'll see us) and our basketball team went to state with us and they came out with 2nd place....i don't like marching band that much but i guess its ok because i am going to be playing a trombone instead...

first day of band camp for me was fun..we usually have an orientation at the beginning for about 3 hours. there we register and pay our regular 325 or 425 for the guard. get our name tags so people know who we are. purchase marching gloves. register to get your band uniform. purchase marching shoes. and someother stuff that i cant remember. then for the next however long until band camp starts we just mingle and talk to people. i was kinda just a lil loner until i saw my friends. then i went to go hang out with them. then after that band camp starts. the first 3 n a half hours were standing up and warming up then playing the music that were going to play for the season or what we have. the next hour is dinner where we go off to eat(obviously) then the last 3 n a half hours were on the field learning techniques and perfecting our weight shifts, prep steps, and all that other stuff..so thats how our band camp is like..8 hours of that stuff..its fun tho

My first day of band camp was......interesting. I'm a freshman so that's basically why. So we had to sign in with our section leaders to know that we were in attendance then we plkayed some inside to get the feel of it first, oh yeah and the air conditioner was broken (live in south Florida..) IT WAS HELL!! So then after that we broke off for sectionals, where we all introduced ourselves, by the way did I mention that my sister is in my section? She's a senior..... gonk So of course she treated my like crap gonk Which is funny 'cause the other upperclassmen totally welcomed me and were nicer to me than my sister has ever been in my whole life......So all in all it was okay.....I guess.....

back in 2000, I believe it was torture.... You just cannot march under 100 degrees of SUN..... It paid off when we were announced as a division one in the annual Pigskin Jubilee Marching Band Competition http://www.regionxvband.com

this past summer i was out early with the other froshies for freshman marching. i'd been having some weird stuff happen where i'd get nautious when i played my sax so i wasnt having a great time. i'd taken medicine for it but it hadnt kicked in yet. and i'd forgotten my water bottle on top of my case inside cuz i was in a rush. so i asked my section leader if i could go get a drink. just some background info: he's a jackass and everyone in band hates him
"****, can i go get a drink?" (he shall remain nameless ninja ) "no, you just got out here" "****, i'm gonna throw up if you dont let me" "fine then, go ahead!" "no, seriously. i took medicine for it and everything, i'm not just being a pansie. i'll explain my problem to you at break. just let me go get the water!" "nope" "fine! if i throw up all over you it's not my fault!" "*looks at me for a second to make sure i'm not lying* fine but make it fast!"
^_^ i win!

(no he shant.....his name is garry and he's a total and complete arse.....he yelled at me for asking for chocolate.....)
my first day? well for band camp i was liek "wow....theres a lot of people.....*feels small*" and then i had to go with inucoli to freshman marching too......i couldnt march worth crap.....and then when everyone else came out for morning practice it was horrid....cuz i STILL couldnt march......and freshmen color guard had to be right in front of the snares *shudder* i hate matt and brian soooo much....and to make matters worse, i couldnt do DROP SPINS while marching without stepping on the flag and hitting myself with the pole.....(matt and brian: hahahahahaha!)
my first day of guard camp....which was the week before....i just hung out with the rest of the freshmen.....sara, bethany and i fell in love with brian that first day.....that midgety, musculary, hunk of hawtness....*wipes mouth* umm all week we were in the band room stretching in the morning.....again, infront of the drumline.....that got pretty annoying after a while......yeah.....oh and then i learned about seniority after our choreographer made us brownies and the freshmen dove into the plate.......and the seniors yelled at us.....

For me, the summer practices were HELL when we went outside. I had no freaking idea how to march, and even when we were getting the pre game show together nobody'd told me how to turn, so I was like "o_____o???" I could not march worth crap, and at band camp I kept running straight into this senior trumpet player. She kept looking at me like I was crazy, and I was like " gonk HOMIGAWSH, I'M SO SORRY!" But then finally I got over it and I learned how to march. Even into the marching season I was kinda bad. sweatdrop I kept getting picked on by the BD and one of the assisstants... xp But it all payed off. ninja I still remember my first practice though...so nervous. xd
At the Freshmen/Rookie Auction at band camp, I sat in the chair of death when they herded six of us up onto the stage. I got pelted with buttermilk and cottage cheese. gonk All the upperclassmen were booing, but when I ran out of the back I screamed "YEAH, CHEEEEEESE!" and one of my fellow clarinets, a junior, actually cheered me on. xd

It was kind of scary for me. I really didn't know anyone because I was so new to Band and the instrument. The Seniors were nice to me though. So we became good friends and now I'm a Junior in high shool and the saxophone section leader wink
