While it is "human nature" to fight over things that still doesnt answer the question as to whether war can be right or can be wrong or can me neither, it tells us that humans do it just a naturally as we eat a bagel, last I checked no one got hurt from me eating a bagel, unless of course it was an evil bagel with sporks and a conspiracy with lots of followers.

Anyway, my answer to the question is, a war can be:

A. Right if fighting for freedom, whether for you or for someone else.
B. Right if your fighting for something that was yours, aka someone is invading you. [which would probably put the opposing entity in the wrong, unless you were a slave-driver and they were invading you to free people].
C. Right if you are fighting for a noble ally cause, for instance they were being invaded, bombed or perhaps just continously threatened to be invaded or bombed by a neighboring country.

They are wrong when:

A. A political leader started the entire scheme simply to make money or to make a name for himself.
B. You are fighting simply to occupy and control more land, or the resources on that land.
C. You are simply fighting to fight, sending countless men and women to the grinder for your sadistic games.
D. You hate a leader of another country and so you attack them.
E. You were paid off to attack another country.
---------------------------------------

There is of course more possibly right and possibly wrong reasons to start or finish a war, I named some of the bigger ones and more noticable past the line, for instance some wars will be in the gray on whether or not they are good or bad.

In my opinion war in itself is not a bad thing, but a neutral thing. Sure people die, but thats as natural as eating a bagel and although it makes people hurt and cry its something that happens in life and it happening during battle is something humans consider to be honorable, to die in battle for the people of your country, kind of a trade off.. die of lung cancer from smoking to much and be noticed as a fool who couldnt hold his money, or possibly die in battle during a war and be recognized as an honorable man.

I am done babbling, I just spewed out lots of random information that came in my head, hope you get something from it.

P.S.

The revolutionary war had the best tactics by far, guerilla warfare was put into use by whites for the first time ever, they managed to scrape by on minut amounts of gun-powder and man-power and saw great support from allies, while at the same time the other side [britian that is] managed to be about as stupid as they can be, years of tradition training them to fight on an open battlefield the old-fashioned style trained them to not use tactics which left their soldiers unprepared when they were ambushed in forests and grass-fields.

Yep, my 2 cents.

true, my only problem with the revolutionary war is that the only reason we won is because the british got tired of fighting and went home, not because we bested them militarily

I haven't really been in a war, nor experienced the affects of one so my opinion might seem creul and non-chalent.

I believe that war is an unfortunate thing that happens and always will happen, and that, sadly, as long as mankind has free will and intelligence, it will continue to happen. Like it was said earlier, it is an ancient flaw in mankind to be violent, so there really is no stopping it. When peace is seemingly acomplished something or someone causes a conflict and thus repeats the cycle of war.

As I'm sure I have said before, war is and unfortunate evil that can never be rid of. But!, (oh no, please stop me...) are the technological advancements that we get from war "worth it"? We have invented so many things in times of war that we use almost every day. Computers, medecines, communication systems, and alot more. If it weren't for war, we wouldn't be having this little conversation (no computers!), but was it worth the death and destruction?

From the perspective of the entirety of the human race, war has acted as a necessity for humans to better our tools and weapons. It is when we are forced into a position of fighting for our lives that the pressure is applied to the inventors of weapons and strategies to evolve new weapons and strategies, and it is in times of peace that these advancements in technology are rethought and applied to all factors of life.

From my own personal perspective, nothing is worth the destruction of millions of lives. What it all comes down to is that war is, in essence, a political struggle over power that the innocent pay for.
