Recently my school did Seussical. The actors mostly had their noses stuck up very high in the air. They would always leave their trash on the floor of the auditorium for stage crew to pick up. Everyday us actors/actresses had to stay late and clean and most of the cast left. Mind you, this was a cast of 85 people, 20 people in pit and 30 people in stage crew. It was fairly annoying with 5/85 people in cast would stay to help clean.
I used to stay after and help Crew clean because I felt horrible making them have to stay and clean. They all began telling me that I belonged mroe on crew then cast.....except I wouldn't be able to perform in crew. But it was annoying that the cast thought crew was their slaves and I always want to kick them for it.

**hugs for you** YAY!!!! I love it when the actors like to stay and help....It make things go faster, It's not fair when us techs end up staying late for clean up and set destruction when all the actors dissapear.....In my opinion, clean up should be everyones job...at least in the house and backstage.

I went to school during set destruction day. Boy was that fun. I ended up taking home the trees from our set. I acctually have them hanging in my room.

I've made it a tradition to take something home from each show. I've got a giant (GIANT) dime from 42nd Street hanging on my wall! ^_^

Have any of you out there had issues with techies hating actors or actors hating techies? I recentally worked a show where one of the actors had no respect for any of the techies, he ignored any warnings we gave and even gave us hell after the director talked to him. It wasn't like we were being bossy, we were trying to keep him from going anywhere where he could get hurt, IE the catwalks. Have any of you stuggled with this from either end? is so how do you handle it?

First of all, I think that that is really rude. Techies are some of the hardest workers and contributors to the show. I am an actress, but I have also been a techie for a couple shows, and it is a lot of work.
There was an actor in one of our productions that badmouthed the techies behind their backs acting like they couldn't do their job. I just ignored the situation.

Our strike out is right after the Sunday and final show... and sophomore year (when I started tech), we tore down the sets and cleaned and everything, and by the time we got into the cafeteria for the food.. it was GONE.. because the actors ate it all.

Soo... because the techies and our TD were so pissed off..

Our TD.. who is also the manager of the theatre.. is the only one with the key to the cafeteria... and there fore...

NO ONE goes into the cafeteria until HE unlocks the door.. meaning ALL the actors have to help strike out before they can eat. MUAHAHAHA

One of my friends had to build the shower head for the McElligot's pool scene and she wanted to take it home. Our other friend Paul got to it first and we had to bribe him with trees to get it. It was such a cool shower head

Nice, I don't think I've ever had to bribe anyone for a piece of set, but I ususally grab what I want asap. saves me from having to fight over it.

In my program we have the Actors, the Techies, and the Hybrids.
There usualy isn't any problems except for sometimes we get some techies on a power trip, or a freshmen actor who wants to creat a seperation. Most of our actors work tech ALOT during the shows, we even have a few madatory work days. The only thing we have theat kind've seperates us is that the techies who don't act play a game called assasination for the 3 weeks before opening night. We're just one big happy theatre family.

Heh we weren't smart enough for that. We were throwing peices of the set into the director's classroom at the time so we weren't thinking of what to take.

Nice....yah, our directors class room is conected to everything, but kinda outta the way. we are only in there when we are warming up before a show....other than that we have a really ugly green couch that is in the props hall that we sprall on. if anything set only gets thrown across the hall from the theatre to the sceneshop. but its still one of the most entertaining times....that and when some one (like me) manages to put a stable into their palm durring construction.
