Ammy smiled back down. "It will be nice to have someone to play with every day. Kaede, can I ask you a question? I'm going to have puppies, I don't know how many of them. When they come, you wouldn't mind helping me keep track of them, would you? I'm certain they'd make good playmates too." Amaterasu was in a bit of a pickle. The father had run off, never to be seen again. Amaterasu knew that at a certain point, it'd be hard to catch food, and that could mean death to both her and the pups... She'd need someone to help her when that time comes. She was certain Kaede would be able to help her, but she had to be certain.

Kaede perked her ears up and listened to Amy. She was going to have puppies? As she padded along she jumped up and squeaked, "Thats so awesome Amy of course I will! Hopefully by the time they come, I get bigger, then I can hunt things for you," Kaede still thought she was a lion. No one had told her otherwise except that brownish cub. But she didn't listen, she thought he was lying.
But Amy having pups was great news! "I'll help watch them and play with them, who knows, perhaps someday I'll have cubs and they can play together," she said with her tail wagging.

An ear-to-ear smile curved across Amaterasu's face. Friendship was such a great thing to have. Ammy hadn't had a friend who she got to meet more than once in a long time, it was wonderful to have that kind of friendship again. "I'm glad you can help me out," Ammy said, still beaming with her tail wagging wildly. She turned her eyes forward again and saw blue. Lots of blue. "Is that the watering hole?" Ammy asked. Even from here, she could tell it was a very large body of water.

Kaede smiled and looked forward, "Yup! Isn't it so big and blue? Come on I'll race you!" Kaede began to run towards the watering hole, but looked behind her to see if Amy would follow. Amy didn't seem too far into her pregnancy, so Kaede thought a little race would be okay.Inwardly, Kaede hoped that she wouldn't come across that little brown cub that made fun of her here.

Ammy put a spurt of energy into her run. She didn't feel like she'd need to limit herself for the pups, they were still very small. Kaede had had a head-start on her, but Ammy's long legs could make up for it. Ammy was about neck-and neck as they approached, then Ammy started to slow down. She didn't really feel like running into the water, but a nice swim might be nice.

Kaede smiled as she ran, they were right next to eachother. Amy did have ;arger strides then she did, probably why she caught up so fast, Kaede wished she would grow up and be bigger already like Ger. As they got closer Kaede slowed down and padded over to the water's edge and took a drink. It was cool and made her cool down, it was perfect. She looked into the water and saw fish close to the edge. She wasn't posing a threat to them right now, so she just watched them swim together, different colors and all reflecting in the sun's light.

Ammy lowered her head and began to lap up the cool water also. She was amazed at the glittering rainbow beneath the water. She had to stop drinking and pull her head away to take it in. "These are fish?" Amaterasu asked Kaede with disbelief. It's positively beautiful! Amaterasu thought. She tilted her head in amazement at the beautiful sight.

Kaede nodded and leaned closer to the top of the water, "Yea, so many different colors here, they come in close sometimes, its nice, just to look at teh colors of them. Hard little buggers to catch though, I've only gotten a few, I'm not much of a hunter yet, but when I get bigger, I'll be the best lioness hunter ever," she puffed her tiny chest out a bit, try adn make hereslf look bigger.
She wanted to be a lioness so much.

Amaterasu smiled at her companion. She still didn't know what to say to the jackal, just as she hadn't when she had first met Kaede. She wasn't a lionness, but it was getting harder and harder to continue to keep it from her. Ammy didn't know what to tell the jackal... She'd have to tell her eventually. The longer she waited, the worse of a friend she'd be. Her thoughts about this left her in contemplation, and she offered only a nod to Kaede's words.

Kaede smiled and thought of so many thigns she could do. "When I get bigger, then I could go back to that cub who made fun of me, and show him whats what, then Ger will be so surprised, and I can finally race him. Oh! Then if I see Ororo, I can tackle and pin him again, they will be so surprised. I'll be the best lioness ever, everyone will see that, everyone." Then she looked to Amy and smiled, "Then, of course I will hunt for you and your pups, and protect all of you. I'll be so strong and so big no one will ever try to hurt you."

Amaterasu smiled. She had figured it out; what to do. Kaede would figure it out someday on her own. It'd be a good lesson someday, she was certain. Ammy would let it be. "I would like that," Ammy said. She couldn't take it any longer though, and just had to poke a fish. They were so shiny, she couldn't resist any longer. She extended one pure white paw, and quickly jabbed it into the water. She felt the slimy scales of a mostly-green fish speed past her paw pad. She couldn't help but laugh, the fish's scales had left behind a tickly feeling on her paw. She quickly withdrew it from the water, still laughing.

Kaede smiled and then looked down at the fish, dipped her paw in as well. The fish swam around it in dazzling colors, scales reflecting the colors in the sunlight, it was so nice to just come here and relax sometime. But then a thought came to mind, "How long Amy do you think before they come? The pups, are you ready for them?" she asked. She was young, didn't know much, all she knew that having a nice soft bed might be a good idea.

"It'll be a little while, I think..." Ammy said, thinking. "To be honest, I have no idea when it'll be. I'm more than certain as time passes I'll know. And I feel ready. I've got a good home, I've found shelter from the elements... there's plenty of resources here. I came here mostly for these pups," Ammy told Kaede. She had always known this would be the ideal place to raise a family. "I'm just worried about not having a father around, but they'll have plenty of 'aunts and uncles.'" Ammy said. Yes, there were lots of kind animals here in the Pridelands. Everyone was willing to help. Ammy looked down and smiled at Kaede, glad to have a friend.

Kaede didn't know what it was like to be a mother, have no father around. She actually hadn't seen any males of her kind besides her brothers, no other little male lions like herself to make friends with. It depressed her really, she wished she could find someone special. "I'll be here to help, always remember that Amy ok?" she said softly. Almost sounding like her puppy self again. She sighed, she wanted someone special...she wondered if she ever would.

Amaterasu gazed across the water's edge, "I'll never forget," she said with a single nod. Then it occured to her. She got a wry look on her face; they'd come all this way and hadn't really played. Only had a quick race. "Tag, you're it!" Ammy said suddenly, tapping Kaede with her paw and quickly sidestepping. It was time to lighten the mood anyway.
