That fact struck Awen as odd. As far as Sabin had told her she was the first aquatic islander, she hadn't lost her legs. Had someone surpassed her in growth since she'd been under? But no, it didn't sound like it, it sounded like he still had more changes. A shark...? Who could....
Alec. Her convorsation came back to her as Sabin had named off the other aquatic islanders. She frowned slightly and put a hand on Amaya's shoulder.
"I don't know...." She sighed and glanced down at her own legs. Why had she kept them when Alec was loosing them? "Amaya... he probably won't be stuck in a tank. There's the aquatic duplexes that lead to the lake... and you'd be surprised how much room there is in all the rivers, so it's not like he'd be trapped anymore than anyone else on the island. Besides... I'm sure the labs would provide....something for him to get around on land with."
Thought she wasn't sure. She hadn't thought of being stuck in the lake since her second change. She'd kept her legs this long and doubted, the way others like the two snake people- their names lost in a jumble of thoughts- were losing theirs progressively. "It'll be okay Amaya..."

Although she had mentioned it to others, no one had ever really been as comforting as Awen was right now. Normally she didn't even say that much - she thought it was rude to just keep spreading the fact that he no longer had his legs. But she was worried and scared. Scared that soon she would be down a friend, and more, once he was stuck in the water. She couldn't even go into the water for that long because it was so cold.
It was like the staff had cursed both of them to be on opposite sides. A wall seperated them and always would. They were taking everything she had from her even now that she would never change again. They couldn't scare her physically... so now they were mentally.
Her shoulders bobbed and her mouth knitted into a deep frown. "No it won't..." She said sadly, sniffling and crying tearlessly.

Scooting the turkey aside for now Awen moved close to Amaya and wrapped her webbed arms around the poor girl. "It will Amaya... Things will work out... I mean... I'm still breathing air right? They'll work things out in the labs I'm sure. Maybe a wheelchair or something... I mean they customised a PSP to fit the water for me and really a wheelchair to fit an aquatic wouldn't be that hard I'm sure."

Amaya just shook her head and held her huge muzzle between her long hands, her eyes hidden. She sniffed, shoulders continuing in their bobbing. She was hesitant to tell the older girl how she felt about him, still feeling rather ashamed that Alec hadn't returned her feelings.

"Shh...Shhh..." Awen held the lizard close to her and rubbed her back softly. "Amaya..things will be alright... I know it's not the best...far from... but it's the best for this island... we get the best stuff concidering we're all animals. Alec will be fine, don't worry, I'll talk to the labs for you and him, alright? See what can be done...?"

The lizard girl just nodded and wipped her eyes on reflex despite not being able to shed tears anymore. "'Kay..." She sniffed. "I called for a w-wheelchair for him before I left. He wanted to b-be alone." She said, still sniffling occasionally.
"I kn-know that he doesn't like me how I like him, but I'm still scared that I'll loose him as a friend too." She finally confessed, unable to hold back her emotions. "I haven't seen a lot of people in a long time. They could even be dead and I wouldn't know it. Chubbs and Hargun an-and Greer..." She trailed off, letting out a sob.
"It's like even when I made myself a family here they t-take them away from me. L-Like they'll never let me have the only thing I want."

Awen it her lip at the words. It seems she still had the good life, by comparison, even on the island here. "I'm sure they're fine.... you know how the island gets sometimes... people want to be alone sometimes, right? Amaya, you won't loose him, you haven't lost anyone yet, they'll come back eventually. I'm here for you when you need me too hun..."

Amaya just sniffed and looked up at her. She couldn't think of anything more to say. All she could do was stare with dry reptilian eyes before bursting into more sobs. Scaley arms reached around Awen's waist under her webbing, her maw tilting and burying itself into her chest.
She just stayed there, sobbing.

Awen just held the young girl close to her rubbery flesh. She couldn't even muster the courage to tell her it would be alright, so Awen held her girl tightly. Closing her eyes softly she would stya there as long as Amaya felt she needed.

Amaya would sob for what felt to her hours, though it was probably only about five minutes. Slowly her crying stopped and soon she was just laying there, hugging Awen with her head in her chest.
Eventually she pulled away to sit up. "Thanks..." She said, unable to really meet her gaze.

"Amaya.... no need for thanks. Have to be there for one another, right?" She smiled and sat up herself. Glancing over she noticed the turkey have completely cleaned her plate of food and she shook her head a big. "This will be an interesting next couple of days anyway, eh?"

Amaya nodded and then stood up. "Make sure they don't go anywhere?" She asked, looking at Awen. "I'm gonna find something to tie them up with." And with that she turned and headed off the path into her duplex.
After a few moments of rummaging around she came back out with two shoelaces that had been from a pair of shoes she hadn't been able to wear since he first change over a year ago. She handed one to Awen. "I figure I'll tie them to a loose leash and keep them tied to my door during the day."
She started to make a loose loop to slip over one of the turkey's neck, going slower than what would be normal because of her less than nimble fingers and claws.

Awen nodded and smiled standing up as Amaya did. It wasn't very hard to keep the turkey around in the time it took the reptile to snag shoelaces.
"Seems to be a good plan to me Amaya." She smiled warmly and helped with the other turkey's neck.

"Thanks." Amaya smiled at Awen and then took both leashes into her hands. "And uh... sorry I kinda distracted you from your dinner." She said, eyeing the neglected plate.

She shook her head and picked up the plate. "Oh it's no big deal, there's plenty more food there, and only one special person that needed my attention." She smiled softly. "Good to see you again Amaya, hopefully it will be more often now that I'm back..."
She looked at the empty plate and then turned a bit towards the cafeteria. "But I'll see you later, alright?"
