User Image #14 Kakuna
Interesting Fact: Kakuna’s name is a variation of the word cocoon, which also serves as its Japanese name. Its name in the English beta version of Red/Blue was “Kokoon”.
Pokedex Entry:Kakuna is the pupal stage of Beedrill’s evolution. Its entire body (except for a pair of bright, black eyes) is covered by a yellow shell which hardens to protect its soft body. Within the shell, it busily prepares itself for evolution into its adult form, much like Metapod. However, unlike Metapod, this process releases great amounts of energy, making the shell quite hot to the touch. In the wild, Kakuna are often found near or on trees, and because their range of motion is extremely limited, may be mistaken for dead. Carelessly approaching a Kakuna in this state would be extremely unwise, however, as it can still extend the barb of its poisonous stinger to protect itself from threats. In the video game, though, Kakuna possessed a pair of mantis-like arms (never stated to be mobile neither immobile), while the anime version has no arms. It strongly resembles a meal worm's pupal stage.

User Image #15 Beedrill
Interesting Fact: The name Beedrill originates from the words bee and drill. The Japanese version of the name, “Supiā” is a katakanification of the English word spear.
Pokedex Entry: Beedrill are known to collect pollen which they use to make honey. Beedrill's nest is often attacked by Ursaring .
No one who values his or her life should ever approach a Beedrill nest, for Beedrill are extremely territorial. If angered, they will attack in a furious swarm, and the sharp ends of their stingers and the poison stored in their abdomens will definitely be put to use.
Unlike other forms of Bug Pokémon commonly found here and there, it is believed Beedrill does in fact evolve from the shell of a Kakuna explaining the reason Kakuna that have evolved into Beedrills do not leave the shell behind like Metapod. Including the fact that the shell of a Kakuna resembles a Beedrill will supply more reasons to making the Weedle evolution line the first of straight evolving for Bug types

User Image #16 Pidgey
Interesting Fact: Pidgey's name could have derived from 'pudgey pidgeon', or just plain 'Pidgeon'
Pokedex Entry:It is quite docile and non-confrontational. Often found hiding in tall grass and foraging for small insects to eat, it does its best to avoid battle. Its two shades of brown feathers and black stripes behind its eyes (possibly working like a tiger's stripes) would make a good camouflage for sandy or grassy areas. It will either blow small or weak foes away with its Whirlwind, or use kick up dust in a Sand Attack to blind its enemy. It dwells in forests and grassy areas, and is able to return to its nest from anywhere thanks to an astoundingly sharp sense of direction.
Pidgeys are common throughout large cities and they often make their home on the ledges of tall buildings or tall structures.
Its main prey are Caterpie, Weedle, and Wurmple.
Pidgey are one of the easiest Pokemon to capture and tame due to their docile nature. Capturing a Pidgey is a good test of a beginning trainer's abilities.

User Image #17 Pidgeotto
INtersting Fact: Pidgeotto is another variation of Pidgeon.
Pokedex Entry: Pidgeotto are large birds, perhaps based on the Black Kite, with sharp talons, a red and yellow feathered tail and a red crest on its head. It looks very similar to its final evolution, Pidgeot. The differance between the two is Pidgeot headfeathers are longer than Pidgeotto and Pidgeot is larger than Pidgeotto. Pidgeot also has three toes, while Pidgeotto and Pidgey only have two toes.
Pidgeotto are extremely territorial, generally claiming a large area with its nest built in the center. Full of vitality, it constantly patrols its territory, mercilessly punishing intruders. It flies about in circular patterns while hunting, and can spot the movements of its prey on the ground no matter how high it flies. Pidgeotto then attacks with its wickedly sharp talons and carries its prey, including Exeggcute and Magikarp, back to its nest from as far as 60 miles away - or more.

User Image #18 Pidgeot
Interesting Fact: Pidgeot's name is a semi-homonym for 'pidgeon hawk'
Pokedex Entry: The glossy feathers of Pidgeot’s plumage have been described as “dazzling”, and some trainers choose it solely because of its beauty. Its head is adorned with a gorgeous crest of pale yellow and red-orange feathers, complemented by its red-orange tail. Like Pidgey and Pidgeotto, it has a pair of intimidating black stripes behind its eyes. It spreads its large wings wide to intimidate its foes. Flapping these wings with their powerful chest muscles, Pidgeot are capable of whipping up gusts of wind similar to tornadoes. Pidgeot are very aerodynamic, capable of soaring to an altitude of 3300 feet and reaching speeds of up to Mach 2. Like Pidgeotto, Pidgeot feed on Magikarp by swooping from the sky and snatching them out of the water with their talons.

User Image #19 Rattata
Interesting Fact: Rattata's names is a combination of 'rat' and 'attack'
Pokedex Entry:In Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, the female has much shorter whiskers. One of the most prolific Pokémon in the world, Rattata can make its nest almost everywhere & and it will, too, if the area provides adequate food. Food is another area Rattata is not particular about: it is an omnivore in the broadest sense of the word, meaning it will eat anything it can scavenge. After it settles down somewhere, Rattata will multiply very rapidly, even to the point of infestation. It is said that seeing just one Rattata guarantees the existence of at least 40 more in the vicinity. This is probably right, as Rattata is the second most common Kanto pokemon (the most common being Pidgey)
Since Rattata is small and fairly low in the food chain, it keeps itself constantly alert for danger. It is jittery, constantly scurrying around. Even when sleeping, Rattata keeps moving its ears, listening for signs of trouble. If forced to defend itself, Rattata displays impressive vitality and resilience. It moves quickly and bites the foe with its fangs, which are very sharp and long. Like in many real world rodents, Rattata’s fangs grow continuously during its lifetime, so it whittles them down to a comfortable size by gnawing on hard objects. It enjoys preying on the snacks of unwary Pokémon Trainers.

User Image #20 Raticate
Interesting Info: Like Rattata, in Diamond and Pearl, the females whiskers are shorter than the males.
Pokedex Entry: Raticate resembles a large rodent, and may be based on the nutria. It has light brown fur, a long tail, and webbed hind feet with 3 toes each. In Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, like Rattata, the females whiskers are dramatically smaller.
It is a nimble predator Pokémon, and the majority of its features are adapted for this purpose. Its whiskers are used for balance and it slows down if they are cut off. Its webbed feet act as flippers, so it can swim in rivers as it hunts.
If attacked, Raticate stands up on its hind legs, bares its tough fangs and shrieks at its enemy in an attempt at intimidation. The fangs are its main weapon, and it will gouge anything with them. As with some real rodents, Raticate’s fangs grow steadily, and it must pare them down by gnawing on rocks, logs, and even houses. It may even topple concrete buildings with its constant chewing. Its signature Hyper Fang attack can scare away a lower enemy before a fight even begins!

User Image #21 Spearow
Interesting Fact: The name "Onisuzume" is a combination of oni, which means demon or devil, and the word suzume, which means sparrow.
Pokedex Entry: Spearow is a small bird Pokémon. It eats insects in grassy areas, and has short wings, which means Spearow has to fly fast to stay airborne, and can't fly very far or high. It also uses its wings for flushing out insects from tall grass, and plucks at them with its beak.
Since it isn't the strongest of Pokémon, it has to fly around ceaselessly, making high-pitched sounds to scare off other wild Pokémon and protect its territory.

User Image #22 Fearow
Interesting Fact: Fearows Japanese name Onidoriru means 'demon drill'
Pokedex Entry: Fearow has a distinctly avian appearance. It has large wings colored in shades of brown, an Orange crest on its head and a very long and narrow beak. Fearow is instantly recognisable from its large wingspan, elongated neck and thin, long beak, all characteristics being a radical departure from its short-winged, stubby-beaked pre-evolved form, Spearow.
Thanks to its great wings, Fearow can fly much easier than it ever did as a Spearow. It can even use them to catch air currents and effortlessly glide over large distances for as long as a day without having to land or rest, an ability shared to an extent by real birds such as the albatross. If it senses danger, Fearow will immediately rise high to the sky. It tends to fly around incredibly high altitudes, even the edge of outer space.
Fearow's beak gives it a surprisingly long range of attack, making it rather dangerous in battle. It is adept at using its beak to pluck prey from under the soil or water. Fearow mainly feeds on small insects and fish in this way. It can also attack by rising high up in the air, then swooping down to divebomb its target

User Image #23 Ekans
Interesting Fact: Ekans backwards is 'snake'
Pokedex Entry:Ekans is an omnivore. It can be diurnal or nocturnal. Although it hunts in grasslands, it sleeps in trees, curled up into a ball. Ekans' appearance is similar to that of a normal rattlesnake, except that it is purple with yellow eyes with a matching ring around its neck.
Like normal snakes, its tongue can be used to 'taste' the air, sensing danger and nearby presences. Unlike normal snakes, which are born with the most potent poison, Ekans have no poison at all when just hatched.
Its natural prey are the eggs of Pidgey and Spearow. However, it will eat larger prey if it can catch it, distending its jaw to swallow it.
Ekans can be found in hot dry canyon areas.

User Image #24 Arbok
Interesting Fact: Arbok is 'cobra' spelled backwrds, but with a 'K' instead of 'C'.
Pokedex Entry: Once Arbok has targeted something as prey, it will chase it no matter what, and if it is constricted, there is no escape.
Similar to the cobra, it has big warning markings on its hood arranged in a face like pattern that varies from region to region, and this serves to frighten away timid foes at the mere sight of it. There are at least six distinctive variations of Arbok's hood pattern, each one apparently indigenous to a different region. If Arbok encounters an enemy, it will raise its head and make eerie sounds to frighten it. If the enemy is too afraid to run, Arbok then binds and poisons it.

User Image #25 PIkachu
INteresting Fact: PIkachu is the most widely known Pokemon in the world. It starred in it's own video game, Pokemon Yellow, and has appeared in all the Super Smash Bros. games
Pokedex Entry: Often found in forests, plains, and occasionally near electrical sources (such as power plants), on most continents throughout the world. Pikachu often travel in packs, and are rarely territorial; however, when threatened, a group can generate an intense electrical offensive, and the electro-magnetic forces exerted by the resulting field can even produce a short lived, localized thunderstorm. Pikachu are often found foraging for berries. Instead of climbing trees, they use small electrical jolts to release the berries from the tree, roasting them at the same time. It can also roast marshmallows on the tongue with electricity to make them dance. Pikachu have the ability to release electric discharges of varying intensity, at will, through glandular pouches residing in its cheeks. These glands allow it to store and release bolts or balls of lightning to defend itself from attackers, to be used in battle, at the command from its trainer, or in self-defense in the wild. An inability to discharge electricity in this last way, as in the presence of strong magnetic field, causes an illness with flu-like symptoms. Pikachu gather in areas with high amounts of thunderstorm activity.
For defense against predators, Pikachu uses both its speed and electricity to stay alive, however, some predators are immune to Pikachu's electric shocks, in this case Pikachu retreats if possible, unfortunatly since Pikachus are rather fat, they make easy targets, some Pokemon, Like Ariados, make webs to catch wild Pikachu, in this case, the Pikachu is virtually helpless and easily wrapped up and eaten. Pikachu is a rather common pokemon and has several predators however.
Pikachu is yellow with brown stripes on its back, black-tipped ears, red electrical pouches on its cheeks, and has a lightning-bolt-shaped tail. It evolves into Raichu via use of a Thunder Stone. Pikachu is so popular, however, that in the television anime series and various Pokémon-related manga publications, most trainers choose to keep it from evolving. For example, in Pokémon Yellow, Pikachu refuses to evolve as attempting to use a Thunderstone on it makes it cry and refuse. It is numbered as #25 in the National Pokédex. Also, from the second generation of the Pokémon games onward, Pikachu has an evolutionary predecessor, Pichu. Pichu, which is a baby Pikachu, evolves into Pikachu after establishing a friendship with its trainer

User Image #26 Raichu
Interesting Fact: 'Rai' means thunder, and 'Chu' is the japanese sound effect for what a mouse sounds like (also kissing sounds). Also, Raichu was the very first pokemon card that I, mystikdreamer, ever got. And it was from my cousin after it went through the washer. I still have it heart
Pokedex Entry: Like all Electric-type Pokémon, electricity features prominently in Raichu's life processes. Raichu absorbs electric charges from the environment as needed by either planting its tail in the ground or raising it in the air to gather electricity from the atmosphere. It then stores
the accumulated charge in its cheek pouches, like its pre-evolved form Pikachu.
Raichu's ability to contain electric currents is impressive; it is common for its electrical attacks to have a power of 10,000 volts, although record potential differences of up to 100,000 volts have been recorded. Even when not battling, Raichu's body exudes a weak electric charge that makes it luminescent in darkness and can give a nasty shock to anyone who touches it carelessly.
Raichu's attitude is partially dependent on the amount of electricity that courses through its body. The more electric power it stores, the more energetic it becomes. Its muscles are stimulated, a phenomenon especially noticeable in its ears, which stand straight up. At high doses of electricity, Raichu becomes unduly aggressive. As a safeguard against this, Raichu frequently calms itself down by discharging excess electricity using its tail as a ground. In the wild, this results in characteristic patches of scorched earth around a Raichu's nest. My own personal opinion is that Raichu is adorable

#27 Sandshrew

Interesting Fact: The name Sandshrew is derived from the words sand, where it prefers to live, and shrew, a type of insectivore.
Pokedex Entry: Despite its name, Sandshrew's appearance borrows more from the armadillo or the pangolin rather than from the shrew. It is a short, yellow, rodent-like creature, covered in scales and with clawed paws. Its eyes are large and black.

Sandshrew's natural environment is deep underground in arid, sandy locations with very little moisture, the desert being the best example. It chooses this habitat to keep its hide as dry and tough as possible, while the sand also provides it with a good camouflage.

Sandshrew emerges from its burrow only when hunting. It lurks by the opening to its nest, its body blending with the surrounding soil. If prey approaches close enough, it lunges, grabs the victim, and carries it with it back to its nest, where it eats it.

When threatened, Sandshrew's primary means of defense is to instantly curl up its body into a ball, leaving only its tough skin exposed (compare with the defensive measures of hedgehogs, armadillos, and pangolins.) When it is rolled up like this, Sandshrew has the potential to withstand many attacks, as well as being dropped from a great height (also similar to hedgehogs.).

Despite its aversion to water, even Sandshrew needs it in order to survive. Its metabolism is configured in such a way so that it can absorb water with minimal waste, allowing Sandshrew to get by with small quantities of it. Its low speed and metabolisim in many ways make it the exact opposite of a real-life shrew.

Sandshrews make lovable and loyal pets in the desert, but since they are finicky eaters they are tough to raise.
