"That's all nice, but might I suggest that you all...oh how shall I put this.....get ready?!? That chimera I just hit isn't down yet, and I think I only made it angry!" Nathien kept his eyes on the location of the chimera waiting for it to move. He knew it wasn't dead yet, but it had to be injured after all that!

"A chimra? Isn't that just a myth?" You could tell the he was in unfamiliar territory here. He was city raised, and thus had the city ignorance on things.

((I'll get the Chimera, since nobody else will...))
The chimera, still on fire in places, hauled itself off the ground unsteadily before letting a massive bellow loose into the night sky. It bolted straight past Gale, who had quietly hidden behind a tree, and directly at its attacker, heedless of the possible danger. Claws gleaming in the moonlight, it launched its full force in a full-on attack.

Having expected something like this from such a fierce creature, Nathien opened fire with his massive 'crossbow' letting loose the small explosive rounds he had used earlier. The force from the explosions should be able to knock the creature off of its current flight path, but if worse came to worse he could always use his special talent.

The Chimera would not fall for the same trick twice. It was by no means a run-of-the-mill beast, and was more intelligent than the average bloodthirsty creature. It lowered its shoulders, allowing the flash-bangs to explode harmlessly in its matted mane, barely impeding its lethal charge. It leapt into the air, to land on its assailant with every tooth, claw, and hoof it posessed, not to mention its impressive mass.

Nathien didn't expect that! It was a good thing he was still ready. He quickly moved, at an almost unbelievable speed out of the creatures claws as he ditched his weapon out of the fray. "Looks like I get to do this the hard way!" He then pulled out a short sword and his trusty hunter's knife. The knife was longer then most others, and almost matched that of the short sword in length.

The Chimera proved to be smarter still, as it circled for its next attack. It waited until Nathien was standing directly in front of the two women and their horses, and then barreled towards him. He was faced with the choice of taking the blow or letting the others be trampled.
Gale quietly positioned himself amongst the trees such that he could help if needed, but he was confident that the flash-bang man could handle the beast, and muttered as much to himself.

Nathien looked behind him quickly. "s**t!" He then looked straight at the chimera. Oh how he hated this thing so. He has been hunting this creature for some time now, trying to make the world a little safer for everyone. This time it looked like he had to take the hit, not like that would help much, for the creature's momentum would likely send them barreling straight into the two women anyways, but it was worth a try. He did have a plan, but its going to hurt.
Nathien leappad onto the creature at the last possible moment, trying to avoid the creature's claws while sinking his own form of claws into the creature, his dagger and sword would hopefully give him some perch on this massive beast.

The chimera reacted to the pain of Nathien's attack by skidding wildly to the side, crashing into a thick tree bare feet away from the others, shaking it straight to the canopy. It let loose a bellow before commencing to buck and leap about wildly, like a bull dislodging a cowboy. It tried everything, from leaps to flips to smashing against trees or the ground. It just wanted Nathien off.

"I guess they aren't myths after all..." Tesunie gets up, readying to run, seen as he has no weapons and nothing to defend himself or anyone else here. "Maybe getting some distance from that beast would be a good idea?" He then points a finger at the Chimera, seen as it was in plain sight before it ran off with a new rider on it.

"Don't move a muscle, Tesunie." Prothel appeared surprisingly calm, but his head started racing with ideas for spells. How do you beat something like that?, he thought, having no prior experience fighting Chimaera. He figured he could try to lure the beast away from Tesunie, so he lit a fire in his hand and waved it while moving quickly away from Tesunie. Please, Tesunie, don't move. he thought, too focused to actually give Tesunie instructions.

The chimera really couldn't have cared any less about the little light show, as it was busy trying to dislodge its rider. It started running while scraping its shoulders against the rough dirt, spinning in extremely awkward circles.

Eventually, the swords finally dislodged themselves from the chimera's hide, flinging its hapless owner off into the nearby shrubs. Shortly after a battered and bruised Nathien gets up from the shadowy trench that he had landed in.

((thanks for taking the chimera!!!))
Some of the horses had broken away during the fight, since it wasn't worth it to Lilith and Alexiel to risk their own hides just to keep every horse. They did try, but with a hungry chimera running around, the horses were likely to break their neck, or someone elses, if they were held fast. Alexiel's horse, unfortunately, was one who broke away. They had given the girl a spirited one in order that she might have a fast one, and now she was born some distance away from the group. Lilith hoped that, once she had her own horse under control, Alexiel would be able to gather some of the other frightened beasts.
Prothel, Tesunie, and Geffry, found themselves over-shadowed by a stern grey-haired woman on a horse. Now that the chimera seemed to be dead, Lilith took this opportunity to command her new-found group: "Every body double-mount or ready your feet! The retreat is coming!"
Lilith glowered at Gale and Nathien, not sure which godling to curse for the arrival of this hapless troupe of five young people. "There will be injured! Help or keep your yap shut!"
Unfortunately, she was right. Perhaps the chimera had been attracked by both the horses and the smell of blood that was closing in behind them. The scraggling few left from the raid were closing in now, three men of a unified group, and scragglers. Maybe there would be enough horses, after all.
Lilith rushed to help the three unto horses, one behind herself. All the while she looked back to the scragglers, as if looking for a specific person or persons. But Tony was not coming this way, and Jack was dead or captured by Feretris.

The chimera tried to regain its assorted feet, without sucess. It was streaming blood down its sides, and could barely see straight. The scent of its own blood was maddening to it in its hunger. It fell over, dead or dying from loss of blood and exaustion. It would no longer be a threat to anyone who stayed at least three feet away from any part of its body that was sharp or poisonous.
As the chimera fell, Gale stepped out of the trees, a pale figure almost irridescent in the dark. He followed Lilith and her small group, making sure to keep an adequate distance between himself and the horses. He didn't want to cause any injuries. He glanced over at Nathien, a trace of concern in his eerily quiet eyes.
