OK, here’s the story… I was scheduled for a C-section on the 29th at 11:30. I spent most of the night packing the diaper bag, my bag, and cleaning the whole house. After I got everything packed and clean to my liking, I took a shower and headed to bed. It was five am, I figured I would have about four hours to sleep. Boy was I wrong.
An hour later I was sound asleep in bed when I was suddenly soaked all the way down to my knees. I bolted up, grabbed the blankets with me and went into the bathroom. I got dressed quickly and went to tell my mother what had happened.
I went upstairs and my mother and grandmother were sitting outside having their morning coffees and cigarettes. I opened the door, and told my mom that my water had just broken. I had never seen either of them put down a cigarette or a cup of coffee that quickly! Lol
We went into the doctors, they checked the fluid, and sure enough it turned the swab blue. They hooked me up to the monitor to make sure he was doing fine, and called the doctor. The anesthesiologist came in and gave me the epidural, and told me it would numb me from the belly button down.
After about five minutes, I was numb from the armpits down and couldn’t feel a thing. They took me into the operating room and my mom was there with me in scrubs and a mask.
The doctors came in and prepped me, put up the curtain and were moving all around. I was very scared and shaking (they say that it’s because of the IV and the numbness that you shake uncontrollably).
The doctor did something, probably pricked me or cut me or pinched me or something along those lines, and asked “does this hurt?” I didn’t feel a thing so I said ‘no’ and then I was out. I slept through most of it, and only woke up when I heard that first cry.
They held him up above the curtain for me to see, and I started crying. They took him to a table not far from me, and within my view, and I watched and cried the whole time. I was trying very hard not to doze off-the meds made me very sleepy.
They brought my son to me and had me hold him and they wheeled both of us out to the recovery room.
My little boy was nine pounds, two ounces, twenty and a half inches long, and his head was thirty three centimeters around. ^_^
I named him Caspyan Andrew a few hours later. Both of us are healthy and doing just fine, and mommy has fifteen staples in her tummy.
