Aubana was frolicking in the grasses along the stream, glad to get away from her Auntie Averti'. She babyed over her so much! It was nice most of the time, but sometimes she wanted a little time for herself. Her ears perked up when she heard faint voices not too faraway. She trotted towards the sound, flicking her little tail. But imediately jumped up when she came into view of the horses. "N-no Head!" She squeled and hid her head in the grass.

Pollisand absentmindedly tried to flick his ears back, but for facts already stated, couldn't.
"Haaa-rumph!" he coughed loudly. "Huuuummmmmmmm...... Vell, very vell might be zat," he responded cautiously. "Caring, having a vant or not vant tovards sumtig ees feeling, ees eet not?" He sighed. "Liebe Dame, you have a probvlem there," he admitted sheepishly, shaking his tail because he couldn't shake his head. "How long have vou had theese "no feelings," eef you dunnot mind I asking-"
A sudden squeal pierced the still air, and Pollisand, being a bit slow on the uptake, reared in the air and screamed loudly, sounding much like a human's agonized screech when really, he was merely surprised.
"Vho ees there?" he roared, his voice crackling here and there like your great-grandmother's old radio that somehow still semi-worked.
"Liebe Dame," he said to Touka, "Oi cannot sheee (see) vho is zarr, can you?" he asked. Being undead was like that- sometimes your "sight" that wasn't really sight just blanked out all new stimuli.

About to answer the inquiry of the headless horse, the sudden scream caused Touka to fall silent and lower her head slightly against the noise. As it feel quieter once more, the female looked around carefully. Seeing the startled filly, she shook her head softly.
"It's just a young filly," she answered, making her way slowly toward the horse whose head was hidden down in the grass. Nudging her softly, Touka gave Aubana what she hoped what a reassuring smile. "Are you all right?" she asked gently.

Pollisand gave the two a critical look, as best as he could without a head, but the general direction of his muscles suggested so. He had not shed the habit yet, without eyes, eyes, or nose, his senses came from elsewhere around him.
Hmm. So despite her not being able to feel, the lady horse could still care?
The danger disproven, Pollisand snorted and trotted overafter Touka.
"Eet ees a feelly?" he asked. "Auuhhhhh [German equivlent of Ah!]...." he murmured, now that he was aware of her presence, he could feel rather than see the filly. A spark among the quietly burning aftershade of the grass, a quivering space in the midst of the absence of Presence.
"Vho are vou?" he asked curiously. "Vhere is your..." He fumbled for the words. "Momma and Poppa?" he finished and muttered quietly to Touka, "Relatives of yours?"

"I don't have any." She responded, her voice quivering. She looked closer at the headless stallion before hiding her head in the grass again. "I live with my Auntie." She said, head still in the grass.

Touka sighed softly, gently nuzzling Aubana. "It's all right," she reiterated softly. "He might appear a little scary, but really he's just a big softy." Now, this Touka didn't know for sure, but Pollisand gave her that sort of feeling. He was a nice guy, it was simply the situation that made him so fearful to others and... headless.
Shrugging lightly, Touka shook her head. "Not that I'm aware of, no," she replied to Pollisand before answering his earlier inquiry. "For as long as I can remember. Nothing at all."

Pollisand knelt on his knees as if trying to get a good look at Aubana. Really, he was trying to go through the movements of normal horses in order to try comfort the filly. She seemed a bit... Surprised.
"And yuur auntie let you wander uff [off] by yuursevv?" he asked, snorting in surprise. "Vhy, horsez theze days! Vhen Oi vas yuur age, moi mame not let Oi go more zan three feet away." He stopped himself before he could rattle on.
Hmmm, so Touka and the little girl-filly weren't related as he had assumed....

Aubana lifted her head out of the grass ad looked where Polisand's head should be. "Well, shedoesn't exactely know..." She said, hoping neither of them knew her auntie well, or they would know how protective of foals she was. She looked at his stump of a neck, seeing a few inner organs. "Are those real?" She asked, her fear of the headless horse deacreasing.

And fortunately, Pollisand had only met three other horses aside from the ones here, one was maniac, and the other two were owned by Hyumuns.
So he nodded as best as he could, the stumps of shoulder and chest muscles rippling as though controlling a head.
"Uund vhy did you run avay?" he asked firmly. "Von't you be in trouble?" Pollisand snorted with amused laughter at Aubana's question. "Vhat, my neck?" He tilted his neckhole a bit as if it were a head, and his lungs (still mostly preserved) exhaled, sending his brimstone-smelling "breath" and a few leaves flying out. "Yes, as faar as Oi am concerned. Are YOU real?" The headless horse laughed again, or rather the remains of a laugh gone cracklingly dry and broken in a few places.
He projected his voice then to Touka and whispered, "...Vhat should ve do?"

"I didn't really run away..." Aubana said, now feeling guilty. Averti' could be worried. "I just...went exploring, that's all." She then lifted her hoof, looking at it. "I think I'm real..."

Touka shook her head softly, gaze flickering toward the direction Aubana had come from. "Perhaps now you should return and check in with Averti' then?" she offered, tilting her head slightly. "Simply to let her know that you're okay and everything."
