Verdad titled her head and blinked curiously. Why was he backing away? The cub looked to her paws fopr a moment. Was she too dirty? Was her coloring that odd? Of course she didn't kno this cubs history so she wouldn't know about his sisters crazy habits. Her glance rose slowly. Even withought her smile, Ver had an aura of innocence and peace about her.
"I was askin' what you liked to do..." She blinked again, trying her hardest not to seem too confused. Her brother often called her stupid as well so she tried her best not to be so...stupid.
"Somethin' wrong?"

Wahabu seemed to forget that his sister was not so talented at seeming innocent and friendly, she could pull it off but not without leaving some question about it in his mind. He'd been too trusting, he knew that was his problem and he was trying not to let it happen again.
"I- I like playing games," he replied honestly, "But I don't play with anyone else very much." It was worded poorly, but he was honest. He did often play by himself for lack of finding anyone else, but he enjoyed himself most of the time when he played with others.
Then she asked if something was wrong, and he froze for a moment. She had lost the suspicious grin, but it didn't stop his paranoia.
"If you're planning something mean, then I- I wouldn't try it!" Wahabu said suddenly, trying to sound brave and finally stick up for himself. He struck a pose that was caught somewhere between standing his ground and being defensive- particularly of his neck- making him look rather odd.

Verdad blinked from a moment, traying to get her barrings again. "Mean?..." The little orange cub looked to her dust covered paws still trying to understand what he meant.
Why wouls she do something mean?
For a girl who had never done a horrible thing in her life, it was shocking to be accused of such a thing. She would never intentionally be mean. The saddness in her eyes was obviousas she looked back up at him. She had just wanted to make frienbds but this was quickly becoming a disaster. "I wasn't gonna do anything..."

Wahabu stumbled backwards a couple steps, still trying to keep his head near his neck protectively. Verdad looked so surprised and so upset, and sounded sincere. Just like she couldn't hide her feelings, he had trouble hiding his.
"R-really? You won't do anything?" he asked warily, lifting his head to a more natrual and comfortable position, "Promise?"

Verdad nodded silently as she looked at him. It was almost unfathomable that she would do something to make him so uncomfortable. Her tail curled around her forepaws as she fiddled with a pebble between her "fingers".
"I wouldn't do anything. I don't like mean people..."

She still looked sincere, Wahabu noticed. She either really was being truthful, or a much better actress than his sister. He wanted to believe her and make a new friend, but the desire to remain safe prompted the decision to continue being wary.
"I don't like mean people either," he agreed quietly, refusing to sit but looking a bit more relaxed. He tried to think of something more to say, but it was awkward following such an accusation and he found he couldn't remember what they were talking about.

Verdad didn't like being called mean. She wasn't anything like that at all anyway. Why would anyone think that? Her tail lay limply over her front paws, flicking every so often.
Of course, the ever present energy began to seep back into her and a smile crawled back to her maw. "That's good to know." An ear twitched as her body lost much of the tension that had locked her muscles.
"Is there...anything to do here?"

Part of Wahabu was glad to see a smile creep back the Verdad's face. He didn't mean to hurt her feelings, and it was somewhat more comfortable to be around someone cheerful. Atleast she seemed to have calmed down considerably.
"There was the trees," he mumbled, speaking up a bit more as he went on, "But they're not really fun or easy to climb. What do you think?"

Verdad chuckled softly, swhishing her tail with the normal intensity and energy. She didn't hold a grude or even a frown for too long so Wahabu wouldn't have to feel too bad for too long. Her paws shuffled, causing more dust to cling to the red fur.
"Climbing trees is hard. I like when all my paws are on the ground." She bounced from her haunches and smiled widely.

Wahabu glanced to Verdad's switching tail and decided she must have cheered up after all. Or now she really was plot- no. He wouldn't think that, that wouldn't be very nice and he'd be giving up another chance to play. He nodded along with her words.
"You said that already," he smiled at her sheepishly, "There are other things to do, some, I guess- like exploring, or hide and seek.." He trailed off, he wasn't used to playing games with others and had little experience doing things in pairs or groups.

Her attention wandered a moment as she thought. Scould only think of a few things that could be done together but most of them involved running and she didn't think Wahabu would like that too much. Ver's weight shifted from paw to paw in an absent-minded dance.
"Hide and seek is fun but my brother always finds me. It's no fair when you stick out so much." It was true. THer mother's bright fur was a curse in hiding games. "I do like exploring though."

"I didn't play hide and seek much, my sister wasn't very much fun," he commented, his voice almost toneless at the mention of his sister, "I can't hide really easily, but neither could anyone I'd played with. Exploring is a lot easier because you don't have to do it with someone." Wahabu nodded matter-of-factly, now smiling. Exploring is mostly what he did, and he enjoyed it very much.

Verdad cocked her head making a soft whimper of discontent. His sister wasn't very much fun? Aden wasn't a barrel of monkies but he was more fun to tease than actually play with. "You're sister wasn't...fun?"
Shaking the thought from her head for a moment, the orange cub laughed. "I love exploring especially when I get to go really far away and no one can find me. It's like getting lost but not." Her tail batted at the dirt behind her in excitement.
"It's always fun to do that."

Wahabu shook his head seriously when Verdad questioned his statement about his sister. No amount of persuasion from anyone, no matter how important they were to him, would convince him that Kilango was any fun. He made a face and considered explaining, mainly about the scars on his neck and back, but decided that really wasn't something anyone would want to hear.
"That kind of exploring is a lot of fun, except eventually you run out of new places to go," he grinned, "Unless you leave the Pridelands, I guess. But I've never really left.."

Verdad smiled at him before looking down at her paws once again. Speaking of her borther, she hadn';t seen him all day. She'd left that morning and hadn't returned to her mother since the day had gotten hot. Her thoughts and attention span began to drift away from the yellow cub.
Maybe it was just that time of day for Ver? Whichever the case, she knew she had to get home sometime soon or she'd never hear the end of it.
When he thoughts finally settled on his voice again, Ver was almost startled. "Habu...I think I have to get home now." Her smile widened as she made her way in the direction of her home. "I'll see ya again, I hope!." With that, the orange cub bounded off to her family.
