"I thought she did, too," he mumbled softly, closing his eyes briefly as he turned his head up towards the sky. His brow furrowed at her question, although he was forced to shake his head in the negative as a response. "No, she didn't say she was afraid of me, but it was clear enough that she didn't need to, with how she was acting. She was shaking, miss Myoa... she stood there, looked me in the eye and actually asked me if I would hurt her... if I would kill her." His expression twisted into one of anguish as he relived those memories again, ears pinning back against his skull as he tried to shut out the raging emotions that fought for dominance in his heart. "I was upset... about the foals... but I had forgiven her for it anyway... but she doesn't love me. How could she, when she doesn't trust me?"

Myoa looked at the ground, kicking the dirt idly. She stalled, then finally said, "Perhaps she was scared, but not of you. Being a mother is a big responsibilty, and maybe, well, she was scared of the pressure of parenting, and was just....tense." She looked carefully at Shadow, and cautiously added, "It would be natural for her to be overprotective of her baskets, especially of her first baskets, no?"

He offered her a sad, bitter smile as he looked off into the distance, golden hues dimmer than they'd ever been. "I suppose you could think of it that way, although why she would fear me, even because of her baskets, is something I will never understand." He sighed softly, shifting to meet her gaze, attempting to force back the anguish and torture that he continuously put himself through. "I'm sorry, miss Myoa, for burdening you with all this."

Myoa sighed with Shadow. "I don't know. All I can think of is that you need to talk to her. It does no good to worry about it, you need the truth from Luna, and Luna herself." She met his gaze, and held it. "Don't put yourself through this torture...talk to Luna." She whispered. "And don't be stupid. Apologizing for your feelings is like apologizing for feelings."

He chuckled quietly, although there was no mirth in the sound, no sparkle in his eyes. "Very well... although I still feel I should apologize for ruining your day with my self-pity. I should be asking you how you are doing... you look well." It was all he could think of to say... and he knew he needed to steer the conversation's direction away from himself, or he would sink into a depression so deep, he'd never haul himself out of it again.

Myoa coughed, and shifted her weight on her feet nervously. This was probably not the time, but she couldn't bring herself to lie about the happy news. "Ahem, well, I have a family now..." She whispered, wincing. What was wrong with her! Her friend was having the crisis of his life, and she was talking about her she was a mother!!!

Despite his heartache, the news of his friend's own happy ascentions brightened his day, and a wide grin spread across his features as he leaned forward to offer a friendly embrace. "Oh, Miss Myoa, that's wonderful! Congratulations! And here I am, going on about the woes of my life when you have such news to share... I'm sorry. When will I get to meet the lucky stallion and your little ones?"

Myoa embraced Shadow warmly. She felt so terrible about going taling about how great HER family was, when Shadow was having such a huge heartache. Yet, she couldn't contain her joy. Grinning, she laughed, "Soon, hopefully. And, my little ones aren't exactly little anymore.." Her voice trailed off, as an ironic thought entered Myoa's head. When had she become old?
(( Soo sorry about the lateness. ;-; ))

He laughed lightly at the look on her face, nodding sagely as he guessed where her thoughts were dwelling. "If you're getting old, Miss Myoa, than so am I. It's nothing to worry about, I'm sure- especially if you have someone to grow old with." Although there was a hint of melancholy in that statement, Shadow was truly happy to see his friend happy, and it showed. "I would love to meet your family. Tell me about them- do you have sons or daughters? What are their names?"

Myoa had no clue whatsoever how to comfort her friend. She opened her mouth, but bit back her tongue. Chances were that she'd do more harm than good. Smiling, she decided that the best thing to do would be to fulfill Shadow's request. "Let's see, Dancia is the firstborn. She's a goregous, softspoken mare with a foal's curiosity and bluntness, and tendency to get hyper. Danuwa is my handsome son. He's more adventerous, already setting off on his own. He's partly blind, but that doesn't stop him." Myoa was glowing with pride. She couldn't help it. Her babies were all grown up!

"I'm very happy for you, my dear friend. I look forward to meeting them, perhaps someday soon?" He paused, then chuckled a bit. "I promise not to charm your daughter." Of course, he was joking- not even Shadow would dare to presume it was all right to sweet-talk a mare that was kin of a close friend. "And what about the lucky stallion? Tell me about him."

Myoa chuckled herself, knowing all too well that Shadow was merely teasing. It was good to see him in higher spirits. "Let's see...Degewi," she started. "Degewi is brave, brillant, and strong. He is blind, but I believe that that just gives him a fairer mind." Myoa said this las part with just a jaw-set firmity that even she was surprised at herself.

"He sounds like a remarkable stallion. I should like to meet him one day- if only to make sure he has his priorities straight in treating you right," Shadow teased her lightly, but cringed after a moment as he realized he had said a very similar thing to Luna... what had initially caused her fear of him, he supposed.
After thinking to himself for a moment, he sighed softly- he needed time alone to come to terms with this. "I should be going, Miss Myoa... thank you for your kindness and understanding. I will be looking forward to the day I get to meet your lovely family." A formal bow of his head, and he was off again, ebon' spotted form melting into the shadows from whence it came.
