Izumi Curtis is Edward Elric's alchemy teacher. After the death of their mother, Ed and Al were cared for by Izumi for about a year (Ed was 10 when they stated, and 11 when they did the first human transmutation) while she taught them alchemy's finer points. Izumi emerges in the series nearly halfway through and becomes a key character in unlocking the secrets of the series. Izumi herself can also use alchemy without the aid of an obvious transmutation circle, something that was, until that point, specific to Ed.

As a person, Izumi is generally caring. She helps all the children that live near her, and many of them refer to her as sensei. She is knowledgable, not only in the ways of alchemy, but in most things relating to life. She is against using alchemy to fix all of the world's problems, and thus does most things by hand. She teaches all of the children these same values.

Deep below all of that is a strong woman with a sense of duty and loyalty. She intends on cleaning up all of her own mistakes, and caring for everything she can.

Overall, Izumi is one of the most developed characters in the entire series, and sadly one of the most overlooked.

Editor's Note: In the manga, it's stated that they trained with Izumi for only 1/2 a year (volume 6, page 55).

Riza: First Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye always appears calm and collected, as of yet she has only lost her temper one time. When Ed and Alphonse were on the train to Central, and Hughes was telling Roy that his baby might be born any day. Riza seems to be the most sensible adult in the series, knowing right from wrong.

Her main strive is to follow Roy Mustang to the top, no matter what. A few times she makes this clear, and other times she hides it slightly. She also has the ability to talk back to Roy without him snapping at her. Riza tends to save his life a lot, when he's not thinking. Case in point, Scar and Roy face off... Roy holds out his hand, Riza calls to him but he ignores her. Scar takes a step back and then, right before Roy snaps his fingers, Riza pushes him down. He asks what's wrong with her, and she calmly says "Your flame won't work in the rain!"

Riza's relationship with the Elric brothers is almost non-existent, but she is very kind to them. When Al would ask her a question, she would kindly answer. If Ed was being an idiot, she'd somewhat kindly set him straight before Roy would. Yet, her relationship with anyone else is somewhat checkered, because she can be pegged as a loon, like her superior Roy. Case in point, when her dog Black Hayate peed on the wall, she shot circles around him.

Riza is sometimes called crazy for her actions, and crazy as they may be, they are highly affective.

Umi:Umi is a chimera, created by an ex-State Alchemist, obsessed with reviving the Ancient Beings, and siphening off their powers. He creates four chimeras using children orphened from the many civil wars. By merging their DNA with that of the Ancient Beings (left behind in fossils), he creates being capable of reviving the Ancient Beings. The four children have no idea of his plans for them, and follow his commands out of blind loyalty. They begin calling each other siblings, although none of them are related to each other, and call their creator "Father".

Umi eventually learns of their "father's" plans for them, and runs away. She becomes a State Alchemist to hide her powers, and becomes good friends with Ed and Al. Umi has power over water in all its forms, and because of this, she can heal any water-based lifeform (human or animal). Unfortunately, she cannot create something from nothing, so she is helpless to fix Ed's arm and leg, or Al's non-exsistant body.

Alchemist: Izumi: Yes; can transmute without an array because of a failed human transmutation many years before. Riza: No. Umi: Yes. Her powers concentrate mostly on water and healing powers. She transmutes by way of arrays on her gloves.

Bigography : Ari is a very kind girl but never get on her nerves. She has a short temper. She does not like to be made fun of. She has blond hair and bue eyes, which later turns to black hair. SHe can always bring a smile to the sadest person. On her free time she likes to think of devious plans to make Roy angry. She is also known as the water alchemist. But does not wear the state alchemist uniform, but later leaves for the little gorup consisting of Miloe, Greed, Umi, and Kitten. Many believe Kitten was the only reeason she joined. She admires clouds very much. If she sees a mysterious opening she's all over it. SHe is very smart but only when she wants to be. She is haunted by an evil demon thing that can sometimes kill people or distroy many things. She loves the taste of blood. Her weapons of choice are 1.Sword 2. Water Alchemist 3. Bow and Arrow.

Information and Biography:
Lived a Normal life until she was 8 when her mother became ill and her father went out to seach for a cure, he was then murdered by a State Alchemist (because he looked like one of the criminals).
Her mother then died shortly after from the illness, and so she was left with her two older brothers, Kaz & Hozumi.

They lived with some friends untill Midori recently became 16, and then started to travel and look for work (with her bro's). At one point Kaz (who was 22) ended up marring and setiling down, while Hozumi got taken into custody by a state achemist. as he tried to ecape, he was killed 'by mistake'. No one really know the reason why. thats why when Midori turned 18 she became a state alchemist to find out why her brother was killed. She also became good friends with Havoc's younger sister, Ari

Information and Biography: Born in an uncharted country close to Xing, he was kidnapped at a young age and was slod as a slave. He was then picked up by a old man who made him run impossible tasks. He hated the old man, who beat him every time he couldn't finish the tasks, and tried to run away many times. Problem was, every body knew he belonged to the old man (because his name was burned onto his skin)and always brought him back for a reward of money. So he ever could escape.
Though the old man was an Alchemist, he only taught Satori so many ablilities so that Satori wouldnt use it against him.
But when Satori turned 17 he turned on the old man, and they had a battle to death, The old man with Alchemy, and Satori, a young man, some wepons and a little alchemy. Of Coarse the old Mans age got in the way, and he got killed by Satori, thought Satori came out with scars running all accross his back.
Satori traveled from city to city in discuise, hopeing that he would never be seen, and soon he arrived in Amestris, hopeing to start a better life
