The loud noise of the tray below him being hit caused Zach's hovering foot to move back to where it was rather than take the step forward. It was quickly followed by the slimy and sticky feeling of the other of the two tentacles smacking him in the knee. The tug wasn't strong enough to knock him off his feet, but it did send him flapping his wings and waving his tail to restore balance to his teetering stretched form. He stamped his foot back down again after a couple of seconds.
This left him in a very awkward situation. He wanted to pry the tentacle off, but it was wet, and it seemed too sticky to be water. Not to mention he figured if his claws accidentally poked into it while he removed it, the thing would spew any number of undesirable and unimaginable fluids, just like out of a horror movie. Disgusting...
Trying to maintain a straight face despite how squirmy he felt over once again being accosted by a tentacle (though Billy's had been more disturbing and a lot closer to his neck), he looked up at the seething old man. He didn't doubt that an idle threat could get it dealt with quickly. God, he needed a shower after this - it had already put him off his lunch. He motioned at the black appendage with his copiously-clawed left hand, not in the mood to touch it. "Get this off... or I'll take it off."
He didn't go into any detail as to whether he meant he'd pull it off or slice it off. The old man ought to take the hint.

The tentacle that missed snapped back behind his shoulder, trailing gravy through the air as it did so.
Stretched out like this the tentacle revealed its strange internal structure. While most of it had narrowed considerably every two inches or so there was bulge, as if it was a snake that swallowed dozens of quarters.
Well this was less than optimal. He'd hit too high with the first and missed altogether with the second. He face shifted to a rather resigned look. He'd lost this battle, utterly. Although Zach choosing not to immediately slash the tentacle actually improved Richard's opinion of him slightly. Maybe Zach wasn't about to claw him again after all.
He tucked his cane under his arm first then Richard reached out, grabbed his tentacle, gave a tug which Zach could feel on his leg. The tentacle refused to budge. Richard made a Tsk noise, then turned his head to the side as he pulled harder. There was series of small pops as the suckers were peeled away from Zach's knee. With the last pop the tentacle sprung backward like a shot, clipping Richard's head before joining it's mate behind Richard's back.
"There." Richard voice was flat. He was grimacing from the pain that traced the outline of his wounds. It wasn't as bad as the first time as the tentacles hadn't over extended themselves but it still hurt.

Zach was relieved when the tentacle finally got pulled off. He was thoroughly amused at how it nearly smacked the man in the face after its removal. Served him right for flinging them around like that. He ignored the expression on the old man's face, assuming to be a general hatred toward him that a lot of people evidently had. Well, screw them all.
There were napkins over by his plate, he knew, and he was a little too eager to get back there and clean off his knee of the horrible feeling of the tentacle. He gave the old man an annoyed look, devoid of any pity or apology, before turning around wordlessly to go back to where he'd been sitting.
