Well, that shows that he definately cares about your well-being.
That's a good place to start with him, I would say. Well, that is
if you want to discuss cutting with him, to assure him that you're
not going to fatally injure yourself, and that you get that he cares.

well, the taking away was caring, but he yelled at us and said he threatened to make us go to rehab and that lovely stuff.
We've had arguments like this before on the same and some different subjects.
We normally don't discuss it since he's always in a good mood and it really brings him down/pisses him off if it's brought up X_X

I don't really want help with it, I don't think its much of a problem. I know most people try to avoid talking about it, I think it's because they're afraid of it.
I brought it up because I knew people probably wouldn't be able to judge me on here, and if they did it wouldn't affect me as much as it would in person. A lot of people who know me in person don't know I cut, and so I thought I had to at least tell someone and you guys seem like a trusting lot.

Jizo: My step dad searches my room for razors and also my half borthers room. He's afraid we're going to fatally hurt ourselves, but he also is ignorant to our feelings, or at least mine from what I know.

it is much of a problem, actually. the problem being you will have scars all your life, even tho they fade they will be visible and it's practically a brand you give yourself declaring you cannot deal with life. they will give you a headache for a long time. but i'm afraid i'm not aware of any kind of help that can be permanent -if you count out the brainwashing done in rehabs-.
it's always a good idea to hold back as much as you can. music helps. eating chocolate/sweets also. if you feel you really cannot hold it may be a good idea to force yourself to take a walk or meet people. or just generally keeping busy.
in case you cannot hold, if you're not in need of bleeding and just pain is enough you can try mildly burning yourself; it won't be messy, heals relatively faster and you won't need any dangerous looking tools. eitherway, please do try to hold back as much as you can.

The scars really don't bother me, I cut lightly, and also I'm very pale and so they normally don't show as much.
Music sometimes helps, but I normally listen to music while I'm doing it, so then again it motivates me to do it. And I don't eat sweets since I get sick off of chocolate easily and I'm not much on eating anyways.
I do try to hold back sometimes because everytime I do, it makes me feel like I'm breaking a promise.
And I've actually have tried a sort of burning before with my half brother. Except it wasn't mild. You basically cut yourself and burn it close and for me it was very painful.

you're the only one who can know what will help you most and how you can deal with it. but you DO need to find your own way of dealing with things. because it -it being living, in general- will get worse unless you can figure out a way and find something to cling onto.

I don't think clinging on to something else really solve it. Clinging
itself is the problem. Addiction, attachment, grasping. These are
the principle causes of suffering. Their symptoms are numerous.

my mistake. i've phrased it very badly.
"find something in life to hold onto" was what i meant, tho i think you also might disagree with that.
my point of view is based completely on my problem(s) and as i said everyone has their own way of dealing with things. what helps one may or may-not help the other. i'm merely suggesting the things that i would suggest myself, with the hope that he may relate to some of them, and maybe even adapt for himself.

A lot of the time I have friends over, because they take my mind off of it. And my step dad normally lets them over since he knows I normally get really depressed when I don't see them all that often.

I guess one might say I ritualisticly cause myself heartache. The one's I love do not share blood with me and relations annoy me. Those for whom I care give me a reason to strive where I am so that I may one day rejoin with them in glorious and happy day.

Im exiled and hurt for home.

Do you ever cause yourself pain?
I don't usually intentionally cause myself pain. If I really hurt emotionally I usually punch something until my knuckles are raw/bleeding, emotional pain can only be released through physical pain for me, usually taking on the form of physical violence against an inanimate object which causes me pain physically, punchiing a pillow doesn't do anything for me, it has to be something like a brick wall (because I accidentally puched a hole through my living room wall in seventh grade ^^;;;;; Oops...) or something like that for me to feel any better. I can take most physical pain for long periods of time (to a reasonable extent) though I don't like cutting at all, it doesn't do anything for me and I don't like seeing some of my friends doing it. Punching something is only under extreme circumstances though, for minor things I usually just write in my journal and think things through or rely on my friends as mediators or I'll listen to music or go to a local punk show and get into the pit and get banged around a bit.

Does certain pain make you feel dead or more alive?
Not really.

How do you relieve yourself from pain, or what do you do to make it happen?
Refer to the first question, i'm not writing that again. -_-;

I think I'm causing myself emotional pain, and some physical pain right now. I just need to be patient, and generate compassion for myself, and hopefully I can create an altruistic motivation to liberate myself from this self-inflicted suffering.
