Nuhusi let her lower jaw slide outwords ever so slightly in a pout and gave him a very disinterested look-even though that was quite the opposite of what she was feeling. "A man of instinct only, mmm?" He rumbled, keeping her tone rather disapproving, "That may be all well and good on your end but...I know I certainly don't injoy myself in such...typical cercumstances." She knew he could do better then that excuse and she wanted to see it for herself. That or she supposed she could be very disappointed...but that wasn't any fun.

Times like this, he did wish he was a bid more clever. Wait- he was clever wasn’t he? He pursed his forehead and stretched, attempting to give his preoccupied thoughts something to distract the blood rushing. “Most men of instinct? I don’t think so much as that. Too few, if you ask me.” He remarked. “What does anyone want with mewing kittens who don’t have there wits about them? Perhaps you’ve only met opportunists, dear.” The red leopard spoke, his ears perking forwards. “I’m no opportunist.” Lie. Sort of. “I’m...a different sort.” True. Sort of.
“Besides-“ He spoke, now a bit lower. “Those who focus only on themselves rarely are as learned as they say.”

"You are," she murmured, eyeing him unfavorably, "Walking yourself in circles, my dear. I'm far from being convinced or impressed." For the first time she shifted on her branch, moving onto all four of her paws. She stood up carefully, her tail out for balance, and arched her back in a long stretch. She then turned, making very good use of her slim form, so that she faced the other direction entirely. This left him to stare at her tail. Or her butt. Neither would good for conversation.

Crap, this had a habit of happening. He honestly did try- but she was right, he’d walked himself into circles with all the hidden language. But his face didn’t let on the troubling. Whether being caught in a lie or missing a strike- he rarely showed it. He didn’t like to admit things that didn’t please him. So they went away. For a time, at least. “Ah-“ He started genuinely, at first needing to hear the sound of his voice before speaking. “Perhaps not.” He resolved, and flicked his tail. There was a coolness that hinted it was over, and he was hungry again. With a slight chuckle, he moved from the branch and hopped downwards, landing on the grasses with a thump. It was surprisingly cool on his feet. “Well, as much as I do work to please I’ll say my efforts are thwarted.” The brute mused with a swish- and perhaps underneath a bit embarrassed as well.

Nuhusi looked down at him with a sigh. She looked horribly disappointed. "I do believe you twarted your own efforts," she murmured with a sad tone, her tail curling, "You were doing so well! Why'd you give up half way?" She rested her chin on her paws. It looked like she'd be spending the night of the shadow spirit alone and bored. It was such a shame. She had thought this month would be different. But males just had to be fickle when the female was certain and willing!

Jaden scoffed, and looked away. He didn’t remember giving up. But, he’d take the fall as it were. Already he was growing nervous that he might regret, and he never would allow such a feeling to cross his mind. It was alright how he played the fool, just so long as it wasn’t ever the truth. “Perhaps I’m not an opportunist.” He remarked flatly, and curled the end of his tail. What the hell was he saying? Of course he was an opportunist. But he wasn’t about to hound. He might have been a cad, but he did love women enough to know his time. "Would you rather I continue?" He puffed, but it was more a statement then a real question.

"Yes, actually, but you seem to have your mind made up," Nuhusi replied simply. She would rather he leave if he was going to sulk or act skiddish. It just wasn't worth it at that point. She gave him a sad smile. The spirits were laughing at her tonight, she was sure. Ah well. You live and learn. "I'm sorry. Perhaps I was too caught up in my own fun. I wasn't being very empathetic," she murmured. Though by the way she rested her body on the limb she seemed to expect he'd leave, even if she didn't want to loose the company. She knew when she had lost.

Jaden shifted his shoulders, and stood unstably. She still wanted him to continue? It was a bit difficult for him now that the facade was down. He liked to be just one person, not two. “No need to be empathic when you’re not looking for empathy.” He remarked, although whether that was just a passing comment or a stall in his leave was hard to say. “What are you looking for?” He cut. The less about him the better.

Nuhusi frowned. Was he really so easily shaken up? "I was looking for company," She replied simply. She was trying to be patient. He had fallen. She wanted him to get back on his feet. She coudln't make him, but she could give him room. She tried to leave the conversation open, give him opertunity to start again. "Nothing more," she finished in a whisper, gazing absently at the dark sky. Such an awful night...all because of that stupid shadow spirit.

The bright red creature jostled his posture and sat, quirking the end of his tail. She was an odd lady. He couldn’t actually tell if she was trying to get him to leave or stay. “Well, I can be a different sort of company.” Jaden admitted with a string. “I won’t lie, I’m a bit of a cad. But I’m used to backing off when I run out of rope.” He could be all manner of unpleasantness towards women, but he never tried to go so far as to become imposing. Perhaps it was the same skewed logic of women that he had adapted from his uncle. "So I'll either take a hint and be off or trouble your time a bit longer." He mused.

Nuhusi rubbed her check idly along the branch she perched upon, "Ohhh, I do ever so love trouble." Her voice was a purr, but not so low and throbbing as before. She was still giving him time to calm his nerves and perhaps leave if that was really what he wanted, though she had to admit she'd be very lonely if he did. She didn't find him imposing at all. He was great fun, at least when he wasn't sulking. She liked him being self-confident.

Jaden hung for a moment, the end of his tail curling with thought. He didn’t like second chances- he was the kind of man who played all his cards in one go and waited to see if he got the winnings or a shot in the head. But the way she spoke called him back. But he wasn’t quite sure why at first.
Maybe it had just been too long.
He slunk, although he was bitingly obvious against his surroundings. “Oh?” He purred. “Something tells me you are a bit of trouble yourself.”

"Mm...perhaps..." Nuhusi purred, letting her eyes slide shut ever so slightly. Though they still remained open enough for her to keep her eyes on as he drew nearer-and to appreciate his form. Though she didn't make any moves, at least not any with her body. He seemed to like to be the one who did that, and she would give him room to do so. "Is that a problem...?" She thrummed, her voice low and slurred with a touch of mature feeling.

Jaden smiled and twisted once around the tree. “I don’t think it is. If we’re in trouble already, might as well be in trouble together.” He pursed. He liked that speech better-and reminded himself perhaps not to talk as much. Women seemed to figure out he wasn’t as smart as he looked when he did. Not that he wasn’t smart. Or anything. Much. Jaden cleared his throat and puffed his whiskers.

Nuhusi shifted slightly so she could better follow his movements as he circled around her perch. She tilted her head slightly in slight curiousity. "Would you like..." she purred smoothly, "...for us to be in trouble up here or down there...?" She stretched out her toes on one paw before moving her back in a gentle, sleak arch that showed her figure and let her rise without trouble on all fours on her branch.
