Man, that happens to me all the time. Sometimes it's not game music though.
I sometimes find myself humming the tune while improving on it.
Anyway, recently it's been music from the Chrono series (which I'm currently listening to).
Some major ones that constantly pop into my head from nowhere are:
- Super Metroid theme
- Metal Gear Solid Theme (MGS2)
- Megaman (always shows up, that music just kicks a**)
- Final Fantasy. Usually the FF2 (FF4) Battle music, and the theme.

i was just playing Paper mario and I fell down an air duct and got all eight bit and now the classic Mario theme is stuck in my head. That was just replaced by the Links theme song *is huming* dun dun, dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun dun dun.. (link, he come to town, he come to save, the pincess Zelda, gonna wisk her away and the children wont play untill link, he come save the day, Halaluya)(that is not how you spell it by I dont care)

It's incredible! I know Newgrounds has some but they have a lot of Video Game flashes, many of them being Zelda based so I can't remember which ones exactly had the music.

the original Zelda theme, the Twilight princess trailer theme, the original Mario Bros song, some metroid music, the song from the temples in the Adventure of Link, pokemon music, kirby music, etc. so many VG songs in my head, also the music from Sailor Moon: Another Story which was released on the Super Famicom(the Japanese name for the SNES), and much music from Seiken Densetsu 3... so many memories... so many games... I'm a real whore for VGs... oh well. ^_^ ninja
