Well I would have to agree with Jhay. I don't care about race or age (because if age was a factor i would not be a Yuffentine), but because he is like a father figure to the group. I believe that he would be too busy off looking for an alternative source of energy to replace Mako also.

RanmaxHikaru No offence but I think it's kind of grows. Not because he's black but because he's way older then Tifa and because he's like a father figure to her. 13 years isn't "way older". Besides, what matters is maturity and they're most definatly on the same level. There's nothing "grows" about the couple at all. Heck, my parents are 10 years apart. You just strike me as a 13 year old with little understanding of love or how relationships work. Anyways! I'm a HUGE Barrifa shipper! I've loved this couple for a LONG time, and I think they're a perfect match. Tifa is able to calm Barret down, and even cheer him up. While Barret encourages her to be strong and make her see that she doesn't NEED a "hero". This couple could make for a VERY healthy relationship, and I'm all about it! *Waves flag* I think that probably the reason it's not popular is Barret isn't a super hawt bishie, which is a ridiculous reason to dislike it. Heck, Tifa gets paired with VINCENT, which is a totally illogical and random couple because they "look good together". I'm sorry, but I ship couples that could actually WORK and the people would be HAPPY.

Because you don't seem to want to ship this pairing for the simply reason of having somewhere to put Tifa so she doesn't touch Cloud, Vincent, etc. I'll support you in BarretxTifa... I don't think it would work out myself but the idea does interest me.
Selphie, if you would be a dear lass, I would like to read the details into why exactly you like this pairing so much. What events in the game did you see made you think of it? Is there some sort of psychological reason? I'd love to read it from the horse's mouth. Not assumptions as to why other people think you may like it.

It would definitely take time but considering their similar circumstances they could definitely confide and and perhaps find comfort in each other. While getting to know each other it's very possible for them to fall in love. Vincent probably wont want to talk about his personal life with Tifa at first but knowing the kind of understanding and soft spoken character Tifa is, Vincent would most likely warm up to her eventually.

alright here is what i think. I dont know about anyone else but I do actually like this couple. For the fact in the beginning when Cloud joined and Barret was always pissed off by him and Tifa was there to calm out. The race doesnt matter since his deceased wife is white i think since Marlene as also white. Plus the age doesnt really matter that much to me since it is a video game lol. Anyway I dont think this is a failed relationship if Barret wasnt all gongho on taking down Shinra and finding better energy than Mako and in love with his deceased wife. its Kind of like Vincent with Lucretia even when he finds out that she is Sephiroths real mother and such. So this couple isnt an impossible one in my eyes. I hope i help anyone plus if you dont understand go to newgrounds.com find the video FF7: About Random Battles then go to extras called Barret and Tifa. Well actually that wont make you understand but its just funniest as hell lol. Anyway im done.

Wha wha uwah?! Since WHEN was Barret's wife WHITE? How would YOU know that? We NEVER saw his wife and he never HAD a kid. And Marlene ISN'T his kid. She's Barret's best friend Dyne's kid. Good grief!!! scream I just HATE it when people get facts WRONG! GAH! (Sorry that you have to hear me rave about it.....it's a pet peeve.)
Anyways, I can respect your opinion.

I see where you are coming from but it doesnt matter if it was someone elses real child. He loved her and raised her and still trying to raise her and from the look of Marlene she had to be white because if she was black then Marlene would be half white and half black. I would relate to that since i never knew my real dad but i knew my step dad who raised me and even though i knew i wasnt his real kid. I was always his kid and i think its the same between Barret and Marlene.

Wait a minute...you're still getting things all weird. How do you know that Barret's wife was white? (Pet peeve time) We never saw her before, only heard about her. I know that he loved her....he adopted her when he though Dyne was killed, to take care of her. Oyy, you're confusing.
