Saika paced around nervously, her face etched with seemingly permanent lines of worry. What had happened to Yali? It had been over a month since the day Yali had disappeared, and still no trace of the olive-yellow toddler. Well, Saika smiled half-heartedly, Yali was probably a teen by now...
She collapsed into an armchair, her head buried in her hands. She thought back to the message quickly carved onto the slender trunk of a tree.
"Kona- Don't worry about me. I'm staying at a friend's house for a while. This way, you won't be hurt by my power. Sorry.
Love, Yali"
Kona didn't believe that message one bit. First off, what friend was Yali talking about? Sure, Yali had quickly made new accquaintences, but had she really bonded so fast with one of them, that they'd let her stay at their house? Second, it was so unlike Yali to carve a message into a tree. Yali would've told her in person, right? ....Unless...Yali was afraid that she would stop her! With her heartbeat ringing in Kona's ears, she pondered, What if I really was the reason Yali left?
"Yali....please come home."
