Cow Demon, that made me jump too!! Mind you, I would have loved to have been Gwen in that scene where Jack's teaching her how to use guns... heart

Who wouldn't? Someone I know doesn't even know what Torchwood is...I'm making her watch it just for Jack whee

And because it rocks. But, well...so does Jack.

Excuse me while I get fan girly.
OLOL. I kinda don't like Gwen. She needs her teeth fixed. And she'd be more attractive without the Welsh accent whee I watch it for the more adult entertainment it provides 3nodding

I know what you mean about Gwen. I still find it very distracting when she talks because my eyes keep focusing on her diastema. Madonna and David Letterman also have that front tooth gap thing.

I dunno, though... I think the Welsh accent is kind of cool.

Well maybe i'm prejudiced against Wales because the sheep call to me in the night. And the day.

Yet again, I loved the episode. I thought it was well written, because the character reactions were great. I liked the plot, too. It was interesting. I hated that Burnie guy with a passion, what an idiot. I think the writers should have had him cowering in his house and refusing to leave just so he wouldn't be able to die because he would be near that street. That would have made more sense. biggrin Jack biggrin

I'm with you on the Bernie thing. Unless it's that human tendancy to pick at things. Like scabs. (Or big red buttons, if you want a more DW-y analogy.) The boy just couldn't stay safe inside, he just had to make sure...

And yes, Gwen's teeth are so distracting...I suppose the cast can't all be perfect though. Is the actress Welsh? Because I remember her from the DW episode with Charles Dickens, and she was very Welsh then...and had the same distracting-ness with her teeth.

More about the episode: I liked the way they fleshed out the characters more, although it was inevitable, and a wee bit obvious. Those memory scenes with Gwen were quite sweet as well.

And that should be heart Jack heart

She's normal, is what she is. Dunno about overseas, but the majority of folk round here don't pay thousands of pounds to get a homogenous "Hollywood" smile.

Good on Madonna for not bothering to fix her teeth, if that is the case. Provided they chew your food properly, who on earth cares?

As for the episode, plot holes aside, I liked it. The first 2 eps were unconvincing, but this one made me think I might actually stick with the series, go out of my way to watch it / video it on Sundays, rather than just catching it if I happened to be awake.

It also makes a nice change to hear a Welsh accent on national television. Wales' previous greatest export, SuperTed, wasn't actually Welsh himself. And Spotty was played by Jon Pertwee, so he definitely wasn't! smile

DW

EDIT: Though some would argue that Fireman Sam was the greatest export and he was very definitely Welsh!

No. I have already stolen them...and the guy who plays Ianto, because I feel sorry for him. He gets ignored (Yes, I know about the last episode, but I haven't seen it yet...)

Good character-driven episode that focuses more on characters than the actual plot.
It sort of seemed to me like a cross between The X-Files and The Bill.
Not that I've seen much of either show, but this one worked well.
Also, Gareth Thomas, who played the title role in Blake's 7, played Ed Morgan in this. Well, it's nice to know that the stars of all my favourite obscure cult sci-fi haven't completely faded into obscurity. Yet.
