some people corner me in hallways and demand to know why we like green jello and stuff like that. xd silly people....and there are others who hate anything that is religious in any way, but they always ask me about anti-mormon rumors before they believe them. i think that's very honorable! 3nodding but really, most people in my school think i'm the kindest pagan you've ever met. let's just say i don't exactly dress like a "church goer". (not immodestly, just lots and LOTS of black and chains and spikes and stuff)....most of my school is wicca(well, ok, pagan, close enough) or catholic. so i'm really an old ball. the only other mormon moved north...*shrug*

This morning I had someone say to me, "I can't believe your ok with being a 30-year-old virgin." stare lol, that lead to a big rant about the particle theory and how God can't exist and whatnot. sweatdrop Oh, well. No missionary expriance but still rather interesting.

People just think I'm crazy because I used to wake up at an insane hour. Even on the week ends(what's wrong with a 17 year old graduate that wakes up on saturday at 7 just to watch cartoons?!). I say I'm crazy all the time. Not because I'm LDS, but because of my weird family(Dad's a surfing nut and an artist, and Mom's a valivictorian and a rodio(sp) queen. Add 12 kids to it and you've got a nut house!). Besides, Dad's said that we're supposed to be a "perculuar people". I got that down! @_@

I'm not like, extremely over-the-top Mormon, so I'm not all that peculiar when I'm around non-members, unless they're smokin' or doing drugs or something... But yeah... I'm at a church school right now, so I don't even stand out in the least bit... biggrin
well i am also at church school BYUI and I notice though that Im still different i mean unlike "majority" of LDS people here I like wearing the color black and yes I even have a spikenecklace and bracelet (not against church school policy,) I watch Trigun/Kenshin/CowboyBeebop/and other anime, read manga and make REAL MEXICAN food for my roomates (sorry guys idaho/utah mexican food is sucky) and I like rock music (but not the kind w/ swearing excessive) and I do not and would not drink or smoke here if someone ever did but I still feel VERY different because I am not a "conformed" MOrmon who should have been married at 18.... rolleyes mad yeah I get a little bit mad sometime at stupid cultural things ehh! rolleyes

i live in California, and around where i live no one really talks about religion with people other than folks in their religion. my friends are non-members, and i don't think that they would feel comfortable talking about it. but most people act weird around here, so this "Mormon weird" is just another type and fits in, in a weird way. i used to be wierd, but now i just usually keep it to myself
btw, i was born in Provo and lived in Utah for 7 years, and i miss the snow crying

Actually, my non-member friends tell me how non-memberish I am! xd

Mostly it's due to the fact we live in Utah, and when I talk to my non-member friends, I don't talk about religion because I'm SURE they hear it enough everyday. That, and I don't mind Spongebob. For some reason, everyone around here thinks Spongebob is evil...
What the...

I love SpongeBob, but have to say that YOU are the first I have ever heard say it is evil! Stupid, yes, but EVIL never. I know quite a few members around here (I'm in Utah too) that frown upon Simpsons but SPONGEBOB?!

People sometimes talk about polygamy or mormonism around me, and they don't even ask me to a part of the conversation or anything, they just handle it themselves, and they just assume that what they are saying is true, when I am sitting right there. Once I told a girl I'm not a polygamist, and she said, "How do you know you're not?" I was like, gonk

I hate it when you try to correct some false thing somebody says about mormonism, and even though they know you're a member, they still say stuff like, "Well, my pastor told me, and his second cousin's Mormon, so I should know." Or when they try to tell you that the entire church is a conspiracy theory and the central workings are all a bunch of well-calulated lies. Yeah, because they've managed to keep a lie like that going for almost 2 HUNDRED years.

My best friend and I don't talk religion, because she really thinks that Mormonism is WAAAAAAAAAAAY wrong. There aren't many of us around where I live, but there a couple popular churches that really dislike Mormonism, and she goes to one of them. But sometimes people ask religious questions, and I might say something, and she'll tell me I'm wrong, like there's one way to interpret the Bible, and she knows it. What makes this harder is that she has read the Bible and memorized so much of it, that if you mess up one word of what you say in a religious discussion, she might jump on you for it. Ouch.

By the way, has anybody seen American Mormon? It's pretty funny.
