I like both old and new for the story lines that are all equally wonderful in my opinion, but I prefer newer graphics because I think that they make you depict the overall picture of the surroundings and such in the storyline a little better. All hail cinemas...or cutscenes. ^_^

Graphics don't really matter to me all that much...all I care about is the gameplay. FF 8 is amazing, and the grapics aren't that good. But FF XII is also good, and the grapics are great. Really, graphics don't matter all that much to me.

I like the newer ones better, because I find they have more overall appeal. The three pre-FFVII (I'm cutting it off there because that's the start of 3-D...) FFs I've played do have good storylines, but I don't really like the fighting systems... Another point on the storylines is that (of the ones I've played) I find the the old plots more repetitive than the newer ones. They tend to stick the 'formula' more than the newer ones.
I do find the newer ones do have beautiful plots, and even if they're not as good as the old ones, I'm willing to accept that for good graphics and voices, etc. For me video games are like plays, and enjoyment is dictated by how much I can sink into it and forget my surrondings. It's easy to get swept away in a performance where the props perfectly match the scenes, the actors are bejeweled and put emotion into their lines and the story is engaging; so much harder to get into a show with shoddy costumes and and a script in your lap.
((And if you find that what I've written doesn't make any sense, I blame it on caffene and major lack of sleep.))

I really agree, for the most part.

Well, For me graphics are only part of it. The story is what has to get me. Not the graphics. The graphics can suck. But if the story rocks...I love it.

They all have good storylines. But I liked 9's graphics the most, they're unique.

It depends, on graphics new ones, on storylines old ones, and on charecters it's a tie.

jupiter_zaps_all Which of the final fantasy games do you like better? The older ones with the sorta bad graphics or the newer ones in which everything looks real? I personally love 10 and I adore 9's movie graphics. However, I think the older games(such as 4 and 6) have better story lines. What do you think? I Like all the final fantay games no matter what, even though I find all of the storylines phantasmagoric, lol. It shows how much the game has been developing throughout the years. And Squenix is doing an awesome job so far after all the games they've made. Keep up the good work SQUARE!!!

I haven't actually PLAYED the newer ones (XI and up), but I personally prefer VIII's graphics, even over IX and X/X-2. xd But the older ones, (at least as many as I have played) had better storylines, VII's being the best in my opinion.

I like the new ones a lot better. They have amazing graphics, and whoever says the story lines arent as good, dont know what they are talking about!! I cant play those older games, the graphics are just plain bad, and they hurt my eyes!
