How low did it go?
We're getting frost on our pumpkins!
Jack Frost is nipping at our noses... and more!
A blazing fire, a cup of hot cocoa, and GOLD will keep me warm!

Not too bad around here. I mean, it's cold enough to throw on a sweater, but not as cold as I'd like it to be.

I haven't been brave enough to wander outside to check the rain gauge. Why? Because it's flippin' cold outside! 47 degrees but with all the wind, it's a chill factor around 32... and with the rain... BRRR!!! Rain gauge can wait.

Did anyone notice on the Weather Channel last night that Charleston (SC, of course) got a trace of snow and Columbia got 1 inch? eek Earliest snowfall recorded in either place. My younger son stayed in Clemson last night instead of coming home after his late afternoon class. They were having sleet with the rain. Just talked to him and he's packing now and heading home. biggrin

gonk crying

How much snow do the Carolinas get, btw?

Usually not much. We're more likely to get an ice storm for our bad weather in the winter. Mostly we get cold rain.
Every now & then we get dumped on big time. A few years ago we had knee-deep snow!

I heard at work that it snowed in north Florida today! eek I'll have to ask my parents about that--they're down there right now.
I hope this filthy weather doesn't ruin the Macy's Parade! The rain & wind are moving up there now.

Finally got brave enough this afternoon to go to the store and get last of groceries for Thanksgiving dinner. Rain has stopped but it was still windy and raw outside. The rain gauge had just shy of 3 inches in it! eek

So then I shouldn't count on seeing any snow, huh? Bummer. sad

Make a trip to the mountains later. Watch the weather; they'll let you know when snow has come to the mountains, then you can enjoy both the scenery & the snow! whee
Higher-elevation areas will be most likely to get snow, like Blowing Rock, Boone, or Asheville.
Anybody in SC know where the snow nearly always hits? I don't think your mountains are as high as ours, so it may not be as likely....

I'd really like to go snowboarding sometime. I haven't been since Winter 2004 in Korea. Man... I really miss it. Any great resorts nearby? That you can vouch for, of course.

I don't ski so I couldn't tell you which are the best, but I know there are some ski resorts in the mountains. When the snow starts arriving, sometimes you can get a snow report for the ski resorts on the weather reports.

Thanks for the linkies! I doubt I'll actually get around to any snowboarding this year, but hopefully I can next year.

Winter sports really are the best, aside from the occassional rush of snow up your backside, and the soreness after a long day of it. There's nothing quite like zipping down a mountainside while the snow is falling, unable to see much further than 10 feet ahead of you. I've really only been able to experience it two times, but it's worth every second.

Older son at Virginia Tech had snow flurries yesterday.
