Reapus Hermaphrodite = Someone who owns both Male and Female sexual organs, AND can fertilize themselves. ( Although, I'm still not sure if the fertilization occurs in humans, except Cartman's Mom. ) The only creature I can think of that can be hermaphroditic is the slug. humans can be hermaphroditic, well not reproduce themselves, usually there since they have both the p***s and the v****a they have a funky system and it is always different in each person.

Ciara was born with both male and female parts, but the male part was uhmm... done away with. I'm pretty sure this is true (I remember it from her Oprah interview) but if it's not please don't stone me to death.

I have a friend who is a hermaphrodite, and as much as she acts like a girl, she is going through surgery and will only have male parts. However, knowing this, I still refer to her as "her" and "she". I find it a little strange. confused

I know someone who's sister is a full hermaphrodite, and has a friend, who is the most buetiful woman you have ever seen and she is also a hermaphrodite.
Also, as a side and nerdy note, there is a whole race in the Star Trek world that are called Hermats and they all have both reproductive organs. Just alittle nerd fact for all y'all. smile

Daunter Angelfish can change genders, so are they considered hermaphrodites? O_o [[I'm not quite sure about this.
Surely they'd only be considered hermaphrodites if they had both female and male anatomy at the same time..?

Ok then a hermaphrodite is obviously a person with both male and female genitals though they will be incorporated into each other, and often malformed looking like vaginas with large cliterus's (that is a tiny p***s) and well...buldgy sides...(tetses) this is thought to be caused by an imbalance of the hormone testosterone early on in fetal (not sure of spelling...) development of MALE babies, and only male babies, this is due to the fact that in the womb all children are female, until the Y chromosome is activated causing testosterone release which means a p***s develops. If the testosterone amount is very little then you get da da da da da da daaaaaa a hermaphrodite they're usually converted into females which works because of lack of cevelopment of the sex orientated...s**t whats it called? i can't remember...but it determines whether you act male or not there, done

I read something about there being over 100 recorded cases of human hemaphrodites in the past century. Most of them had/have the appearance of a woman and both male and female genitalia.
While I'm on the subject there have been 6 recorded cases (over the past few centuries) of men with two penises.
Just thought you might be interested.

I am pretty sure that fertilization of ones self through being a hermaphrodite is, if not impossible, then never practiced in nature. Slugs, snails etc. are always found in pairs, fertilizing each other. It may be possible, but I think that the genetic implication would make it, to say the least, impractical.

Okay I shall expain then as wellas I can.
A hermaphrodite is a person who has characteristics of both sexes. There is rarely a true hermaphrodite (I shall explain in a moment). Some such as a friend of mine looks far more feminine than most appear, the curved body, the lithe frame. Ahowver, he is hairy, and quite strong and obviously has a male sex organ. The same occurs with women except for male characteristics such as more muscle mass, heavier build but they are stille ssentailly a woman (more than 80%)
A TRUE hermaphrodite is rare. In those cases the person's DNA actually asays theya re fifty percent male, fifty percent female. They have a small p***s and their genitalia are in the inside and they also ahve a v****a and often, other parts of a female's sex organs. During these cases they often require surgery to become a man since it is considered easier to go through the transition.
The reason for hermaphrodites is complex. In men we have an XY chromosome which makes men well male. They grow a p***s and so on. In hermaphrodites, that Y gene activates too late and the person has a female form but the Y gene is trying to create a male. As a result they have both sexes.Often they are sterile and unable to have children. The reason it is the Y gene that activates alte and not the X gene, is because humans start out as females and develop our sex later on once the chromosome activates. The whole concept of hermaphrodites goes into a much larger conceptand is far mrore xomplex than what i listed. If anyone wants i can always find teh research thorugh EBSCO and post a link for it.

fancygurl0077 so like she wants to be a boy now? Yes, she does, but her personality is more that of a girl. So I'm basically assigning her gender, for me, based on her personality.

Hiya smile Just throwing my 2 cents in here.
In animals, certain species (usually reptiles) can change gender to ensure further generations. Someone said that earlier. They are not hermaphrodites, but are considered to be hermaphroditic. If that makes sense. They can reproduce.
In humans, a hermaphrodite is sterile, meaning that they can't reproduce. There may be a few very rare exceptions, but in 99% of cases, this is true.
It's fun to entertain the thought of someone getting him/herself pregnant... (Man? Who needs a man?!? whee ) but yeah, they are sterile in most true cases.

Althera I think hermaphodites are people who were born with both genders expressed, so they have both male and female parts. How it happens, well you got me there. Well it occurs with a mutation in the genome (such as every human malfunction) Fun fact: Only one of both hermaphrodite's genitals is reproductive.
