Tiamet,

First, I just waant to say that it's great finally meeeting a real Hobb fan. She really doesn't get the credit she deserves.

And I think you're right about one part, she is more heart -rending and thought-provoking than all other authors I''ve read, and that list isn't short. (Think about Santa's naughty list.)

It isn't just a book series. It is more real, I think, than this world half the time, or more.

And it is the only series that made me cry off and on for the last 200 pages of the last book. (I don't cry. I didn't even cry at my mom's funeral.)

I pray that she doesn't make a sequel.... It is best as it is, wouldn't you agree?

Vale,

To an extent... I would just like to know if 'They' will meet up again... And I think she could make another series entirly with The Fool and Prilkop... But alas, you are right... Fitz did his time and paid his dues. Off to mediocrety....

Wow.... I believe that is the best example of narrowly avoiding a spoiler ever!

Hmm, I have just now started Shaman's Crossing.

Gods, but that trilogy is dark. If her first series was politically based, this new series--featuring Nevare--is religiously based.

Expect family crises, plagues, and the ever present chain of fate that is a mark of Hobb's writing.

But there is other things in this trilogy that make it very, very dark. I won't elaborate for fear of making a spoiler, but I suggest readers be in their teens before picking up this one. Not for the light-hearted.

Demon, I recommend this to you directly. I think that you'll love this series, and the books are short compared to the last ones. The first two are Shaman's Crossing and Forest Mage respectively. Try them out, and I'm sure you will see why Hobb has stolen the crown from Jordan's head.

Awesome. I am currently about halfway, I can start to see what you mean by dark though. I just love the way she can weave her worlds and make them seem so realistic. And all this without sounding wordy...

Yes, she has a gift.... By the way, did anyone know that she also wrote under the name Megan Lindholm? I want to read her books SOOOO bad, but they are incredibly hard to find.

My cousin, who lives in Kentucky, said that there are a few Megan Lindholm books in the local Joseph-Beth Booksellers... Tried an online source yet?

I love the Hobb series "Farseer-Tawny Man Trilogy". Does anyone else?

I love that series!!! Have you read the Mad Ship Trilogy also by Robin Hobb? It's so cool!! It ties in with the Farseer and Tawny man trilogies. She is quite the talented authoress.

Who was your favorite character? Mine was the Fool. Fitz was awesome too! I hated Molly though scream

Have you tried her new series?

My favorite characters were King Shrewd, Nighteyes, and Chade.... I really didn't like the Fool in the sense that he was too dynamic, if ever there was such a thing. I didn't like the transition from Fitz to the Fool over time. Almost as if too much hinged..... I am about to reveal too much... So I will stop now...

I love Robin Hobb and I have to agree with an earlier comment, it was emotionally exhausting. I was all but cooing over the Fool and Paragon made me giggle. It was such an engaging series, but I don't think I can reread it for a while yet. I started her newest books, the Soldier Son series, but I stopped before I finished the first book. It was quite tragic and I kinda wanted to stick my head in a blender, because I was so bound up with Nevare and his sorrows. I will pick it up again, but not right now because, lo, but Hobb likes to put her characters through hell!
