Yeah. Mesopotamia had the first known writing... Along with the first wheel too. =D It surprised me. But yeah.

They had alot of the firsts. and there was a group, the Olmecs, I believe, who developed a writing system.. or was it the other? I'm too tired, I'll look my facts up straight tomorrow and straighten them up. xD
Yeah and Mesopotamia were also the first businessmen, they were the first to implement the loaning system and they had the richest city the world has every known [the great Babylon].

@Lady Ireth::

It may have been invented in China, but it was revolutionized in Italy.. ^^ Pizza wasnt invented in Italy either, it was invented in America, well we made it what it is today, the Italians only made dough with pasta sauce on it, there was no toppings on there pizza, no cheese that was not in the pasta and no meats either, or vegetables.

Just dough with pasta sauce?
...Breadsticks! =D
Yeah but it was shaped like a pizza with hardlike bread [like breadsticks] on the end and soft dough throughout the pizza... next time you buy a pizza, just rip off the cheeze and everything goes with it but sauce, that was italian pizza.

China has more Engilish speakers than any other English speaking country including the U.S.

And, the fact that they develpoed toilet paper is really awsome.

I have something to add.
Pasta was invented in China, nope not Italy, China. 3nodding
No one at school believed me, but my History teacher backed me up.

the pasta in china was originally made with rice, but when Marco Polo went back to his home, he took the recipie and because they didn't have rice, he put in flour instead.

China is an ancient country with nearly 5,000 years of written history. The dynasties listed in the chronology are nearly all well recorded and documented by famous historians like Sima Qian.

Playing the Dynasty Warriors series of video games made me so knowledgable on that kind of thing, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I just thought it was funny you'd mention that, since I'm actually about to go play that game once I'm done going through the threads. China is so cool cry

China was named after Shi Huangdi (translates to "First Emperor" I believe) of the Qin dynasty.

Qin is pronounced "Chin", hence, "China".

At least, that is what I was lead to believe...

I knew about the one child law. But the grenades.... Now that's awesome.

Chinese people get the title of 'ownage' just for that.

Though the one child rule down-plays on it.

For the edit, I shall forever revere China. My other went to Quwait...they don't use their left hand there. x.x (They don't have toilet paper and so use their left hand to sanitize themselves.

I was told that it is speculated that this is the origin, but it is not known for certain.
