Truthfully, I'd go to Prom. The Gaia panel is usually early in the afternoon (2:00-4:00PM or so? I forget), and prom usually starts at like 7:00. All there is to do to get ready for Prom on the day of is hair and makeup, and you could probably get someone at Fanime to do your makeup for you really pretty! Plus hair is hair, you can pretty much get away with anything from curls to straight to a simple ponytail.
I would go to Prom. You can always leave early if it's too boring!

Prom sounds boring, you wouldn't want to miss a second of Fanime because of it.

Have you ever been to a prom?
I've been to three, and I would give up a whole day of fanime to go to one hour of Prom, that's how much fun it was.

In the end, it’s really your choice; how much do you value conventions? A year ago, every single one would mean *SOO* much to me, but nowadays I attend one pretty much every month, so missing one isn’t that bad. And there are so many in California anyways. xP …But yeah, this is still Fanime. Hrm. I’m not getting anywhere.
If it makes you feel any better, this year my choir is traveling to New York to perform at Carnegie Hall. Usually every year they go to Europe or something, but this year it’s like… yeah, Carnegie Hall’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance for me. And I’ve chosen Fanime over it. -__-; But my parents weren’t letting me go anyway, and all of my friends chose Fanime too. xD

That's pretty crazy, I would have chosen the Once-In-A-Lifetime thing.
Really you need to weigh the pros and cons of EACH. Not to mention think about this longterm. Are you really 100% sure that you will NOT regret it down the road? 90%? 50%? You need to find out what's right for YOU and what YOU value the most.

I had this same decision last year, actually. I chose fanime, and honestly, I don't regret it. I made new friends, acted like an idiot, went to a rave, listened to awesome music. I mean, Prom is great for a highschool memory, but as an outsider to the rest of my senior class, I was happier with my own idea of "Prom".
So it just boils down to that. Do you want to be with your class or do you want to make your own "Con-prom?"

ok well with new data it seems I can go I just nee to find a date. Thanks for all you input I am just waiting for the ticket price but I think I can pull it goign to both I am making fanime like my prom party lol.
