Sid shrugged and waited until he swallowed another shrimp before responding. "Not qui... quite sure yet. Never was much for ih." He chuckled to himself. "I'm defin... I know I'm not gonna have a date for it."

Amaya snorted, her tongue flickering. "It's not a date. I just didn't wanna go alone and he offered. I don't even know him." She said, quick to defend herself like any teenager. "I can't see anyone wanting to date me." She gave a sad little smile, a horrible attempt at joking about something she constantly felt depressed about.

Sid barely heard Amaya's last comment, he was too busy trying to place the name Marshall to a face. Then he remembered the bar, and the cafeteria, and that he really should apologize for the incident at the bar.
"He's a goo' kid. Incredibly naive... bu'... but good."
When the rest of what she said sank in he was in the middle of attempting to chew/mangle another shrimp. "Aw, nonsenth," he said, spitting a few bits of seafood. He swallowed before he continued. "I figure after a while anything'll look good."

Anything? Well... that...
Amaya sighed, eating more of her fruit salad.

That probably wasn't the best thing to say to a girl, Sid realized.
Time for damage control. "Hey, I'm tryin' to say there's some hope for us all..."

"Hopefully..." The girl said after she had swallowed her mash of fruit. She picked up a strawberry. "Guess I just need some young guy to get dragged here and turned into a lizard." She said somewhat bitterly.

"Theah's always finding someone who accepts you for who you are... or some s**t," Sid said. He could only keep up the reassuring tone for so long. He ate another shrimp to buy himself a little more time.

"Hn, tried that. Didn't work out." Amaya mumbled, her snout going into her water bowl once more. Her cheeks buldged slightly as she gulped the water down, the lowering water level one of the few things to indicate that she was actually drinking and not just shoving her face into a bowl.

"Well, s**t, I guess there's no hope," Sid said, sounding resigned to that himself. That, and he'd exhausted himself on that last line. He was also running out of shrimp.

The lizard snorted. "I guess not." And likewise, she was begining to run out of strawberries - her fruit salad and most of her water already gone.

"Ssseriously, don't freak out about it," Sid said. "Love's overrated. And stressful. And stupid. Really ******** stupid. And expensive... But, hey, there's no alimony here, I'd bet."
He smiled, if only because he'd managed to get all of that out without any problems, save for the odd hiss. Then again, the subject was near and dear to his heart. And he was still bitter about all of it, naturally.

"I wouldn't know." Amaya said, bitter about it as well though apparently for hugely different reasons. "Was kind of hopeing I'd have a boyfriend at least once before I died."

Amaya blinked, being young enough to not catch what he meant by such a question. "Seventeen, why?"
