You forgot one thing: every nation in Avatar is guided by its 'morality' and a code of ethics. Things that are wrong are fixed by the avatar. There is balance. It's said over, and over, in the series when anyone is referencing the motif of the avatar.
If someone upsets the balance there would be chaos (ex: Remember the two tribes? From the first season? The codes of each tribe collided with each other, and when a factor influenced them[ Fire Nation, anyone?] to battle with another.). If there is a wrong deed done to a nation by another, and the balance is changed, then the attacker will receive several bushels of harm (ex: Avatar's karmic power vs the Fire Nation, neh?).
Anything that tips the scale will cause harm... And thus is the existance of the Shadow Benders. The Shadow benders, through their own means, will cause chaos. That nation will, through-guess what?-the shadows, cause the chosen nations to begin to bicker/fight/kill/harm/upset with another.
Also.. Shas-san, did you notice the sewer system in Episode 'Return to Omashu'? If I recall correctly the Avatar Gang enter the city via the sewers. In sewers there is water. There are also rivers in the Earth Kingdom, as shown in episode 'Jet'. And it's the same for all the other countries, too. Every country has their opponent's element and it only requires a skilled thinker to see where it is.

Yes but I'm also sayingrealy what Value would it hold to the waternation to go to war with a Super power far larger then there own? Also the water is under a large amounr of stone. And they got into Omashu by acting like an Old man and yelling at the guard who let them in, but I do remember the Water Challenge in Omashu were he had to get the key.
Im just saying it isn't the smartest thing to go to war with out little or any economic value achieve able.

then there is also the whole thing that skilled benders can manipulate the water in their opponent's bodies.

Vladimir ShasO Bane Yes but I dont think thats allowed here and none of us are that high level or Fire benders would be making people spontaniously combust. That might be over exaggerating. You didn't contend the manipulation of fluids within a person's body, so why do you doubt thermal energy in the same form? A skilled enough bender would be capable of these things... but I don't believe that level of skill will be available to us anytime soon.

I'm not arguing with the creators of avatar, I am arguing with the countless deaths that firebenders could create. I can atleast hope that other waterbenders wont go around killing people with they're ability to make people they're puppets. What you guys are talking about is the fire nation being able to cause mass genocide/homicide. (Genocide if the fire nation were in a war, and homicide if they just kill without caring who)

A skilled enough bender would be capable of these things... but I don't believe that level of skill will be available to us anytime soon. Just to clear the whole spontanious combustion thing up and to let every one know. Spontanious combustion is impossible, it has been proven that people wont just combust into flames. Water in the body as a matter of fact would be able to manipulated by a water bender. Due to the bodys mass and how it's constructed with 75% of water it would be fairly easy for a bender to controll you. Also that 75% does not include the amount of water in your digestive track. So yeah, back to the point. Spontanious combustion is a myth.

So, can the other nations take sides? I'm just wondering, since the fire nation isn't doing much yet.

The Fire Nation should side with the Earth Kingdom, just out of personal preference.
