"C-careful!" Quickly Anoki grabbed the bottom of the swing to help steady it. Then, once it looked like the younger child was ready, he began to push from the bottom, like Mahou had done that one time before. And just like before, the swing began to rock back and forth. Enthused by his own sucess, Anoki pushed harder, and the swing swung a little higher. Pushing was actually kind of fun in itself.

Nibal gave a slight gasp as the swing began to move. Then he grinned. This was fun! He wriggled some, causing the swing to shake a bit. Fun, fun, fun! He giggled, almost letting go to clap his hands together in glee, but stopped before he did. That would be bad. He would fall. So he kept his hands on the ropes and just settled for going "Wheee!".

A bit out of breath, Raven strode into the playground, surveying it with a critical eye. There they were. Honestly, the boy had no sense of imagination. He always went to the same place, at the same foods... rituals were good, but if he didn't develop imagination, he would be a terrible failure at magic. And Raven couldn't tolerate that any more than she could tolerate his disobedience.
"Anoki Kenelm! What do you think you're doing?"
Stunned, Anoki put his arms down. The swing came back and crashed into his shins, making him wince further and giving the swing quite a jolt. "M-mama Ray! I-"
"How DARE you leave the house without my permission? And what are you doing here, exactly? How will this help with your lessons?"
The tone in Raven's voice put Myung-Ki on edge. That woman treated him like he was nothing, and now she was trying to do something bad to his person? He growled, sliding off the end of his sunbathing spot and walking until he was firmly between Raven and Anoki, his eyes daring her to get past him. He may have been small, but he still wouldn't let this affront go unchallenged.

Startled, Nibal's grip loosened and he turned to see what the yelling was about when the swing hit Anoki's shins. The boy wobbled for a moment and then fell, immediately setting up a wail.
Peri looked up, then walked quickly over to the boy. He knelt beside Nibal, checking the tadpole boy over for any injuries. Then he held the boy and picked him up, standing up to look over at Raven a bit skeptically. How intelligent; tick the boy's dragon off, especially when he has a red dragon.

Completely ignoring Myung-Ki, the wailing toddler, and the boring man (was he a teacher?), Raven simply stood there, arms folded, waiting for an explanation. Not that one would make any difference to her, but she was curious what sort of excuse he would come up with.
Anoki had nothing. He knew that saying something wouldn't help. At the same time, saying nothing might be worse. And nothing was coming to him. He just stood there numbly, caught in Raven's accusatory gaze like a fly caught by a spider.
The spell lessened slightly, however, when Nibal fell and began to cry. The numbness began to wear off, and Anoki quickly turned around, to find the boy already in his parent's arms. "Are y-you okay? I'm s-sorry!"

Nibal had stopped crying when Peri had picked him up and the man used a tissue to clean off the boy's face from tears. "I okay." Nibal told Anoki before sticking his thumb into his mouth. He looked over at Raven, a bit frightened. She was scary looking. He hid his face in Peri's chest.
Perilas a bit awkwardly patted his son's back. Raven was even scaring him a bit, so he felt for the boy.

And on top of all the other trouble Anoki had caused, he'd made a child cry. Fantastic. It never occured to Raven that she might be scaring the boy more than Anoki, but she did have enough of a conscience to feel that she should apologize for her ward's behavior.
As soon as Raven took a step, Myung-Ki's hackles were up. He arched his back, hissing almost as a cat would, and exhaled a small plume of smoke and sparks. She was NOT going near his person. NOT.
"Step aside, wyrmling," Raven muttered dismissively. Rather than confront the dragon, she simply walked around it, mentally reciting a simple shield spell in case the misbegotten hatchling tried to attack her from the rear. In a few steps she had made it over to the other teacher, and offered her hand. "I apologize, sir, for any damage that Anoki Kenelm may have caused. He left the apartment without my consent, and you have my word that he will be severely reprimanded."
Even though the words were bigger than Anoki liked to use, he knew what they meant. Raven's mere presence was pressure, having her up close and talking about his fate was enough to emotionally crumple him. It even showed physically, in the way his shoulders and knees slouched, and his head hung, dejected.

As Raven came closer, Nibal wriggled more, trying to bury himself in the man's chest. Peri patted the boy's back for a moment before looking at the woman. This was one scary woman. "I don't believe that Anoki did any harm, whatsoever. He was merely playing with Nibal. They had been doing rather well before you arrived." It was no small wonder the boy still stammered at his age. If you lived with this creepy of a woman as a sort of mother, it would make anyone stammer and stumble over their words.

Perilas' words made Anoki brighten somewhat, but any hope or pride that he felt was immediately shattered when he looked up, putting himself on the recieving end of one of Raven's glares. It actually made him stagger backwards one step.
Was the idiot of a man implying that the chaos was her fault? Inconcievable. All she did was what she was supposed to. Knowing D-Corp, they would probably punish her for Anoki's misdoings with another stack of paperwork, or a dock in pay. And gods forbid if he was behind in his class. Not only would they make her catch him up, but the fact that was behind would be a bad reflection on her. Such situations had to be avoided at all costs, and strict discipline was the only way.
"Are you implying, sir, that I am to blame for what occured here?" Raven's voice was dangerously high, almost on the verge of cracking with anger.
The voice was even worse! Always ready for a fight, Myung-Ki scampered over, almost crashing into Anoki's long legs. There, he didn't approach Raven but merely watched. If she made any moves, he would be ready.

Peri gulped and Nibal whined softly at Raven's question. That look... it was scary... The man gulped again. "Well..." His voice almost shook a bit before he paused and took a breath. "They had been playing well..." He added, a bit meekly.

"How... how dare you," Raven hissed. Such an insignificant, cowardly man was telling her how to behave around her charge? "As if you're doing any better, babying the child like that? Or are you another of the simpering fools who asked for such a respinsibility? Either way, you're not worth my time."
Anoki trembled, but for a change Raven's ire wasn't directed at him, and it was a bit of a relief. Still, in place of the anger was guilt, the feeling that somehow all of this was his fault.

Peri's mouth opened, then closed. And then opened again. "No, actually, he's the bright idea of my wonderful boss. I didn't have an option." Well, okay, he probably had had an option, to leave Nibal, but somehow Perilas didn't think that that would've gone over well with Alan.
"And your method is even better? Keeping the child frightened out of his mind and not even letting him play?" And then his courage failed him. His anger at Raven's jab at his parenthood had fizzled out and left him.

If Raven had been in a different state of mind, she might have welcomed the chance to commiserate about her boss with a coworker. But as it was, all she could feel was anger. "Don't you dare criticize me!" she shouted, her voice echoing across the playground. "You have no idea how to raise a child!"
At this point all Anoki wanted to do was leave. Raven was clearly not going to be nice to the other man, and he didn't want anyone to be angry. All he wanted to do was play, but if it caused trouble, maybe he shouldn't want that anymore. After all, quiet had its good points as well.
The more shouting he heard, the more Myung-Ki wanted to take part in the fight. Moreover, he wanted to bite both of the shouters heads off and return to basking in the sun. Everything was too noisy to properly take it easy, and if the wyrmling had been older, he would have fixed it for good.

Peri was half wanting to hide and half angry on Anoki's behalf. "Well, even if I don't, at least I care about him and am trying."
Nibal squirmed in his parent's arms. The woman was scary and P'las was becoming scary because of her. She must have a scary aura around her and everyone who gets too close becomes all scary. Did that mean he was going to be scary too? He was close to her as well...

"Care? Care?" Raven shrieked, readying a response... only to realize that she didn't know what to say. She stood there dumbly for a moment, before looking angrily at Anoki. Somehow all of this was his fault, and she would make sure he paid for it somehow. And the insufferable man as well.
And uh-oh, she was back to being mad at him. Anoki trembled a little, and even though much of his instinct told him to run, he was frozen in place. A slight whimper escaped before he could swallow it. She looked even angrier than usual, and that meant trouble.
Which meant that it was Myung-Ki's turn to step in again. Half angry and half annoyed, the wyrmling slunk in front of his partner, wings outstretched and hissing loudly, like a cat. If the woman wanted to hurt his person, she would have to get through him, and she wouldn't be able to do that easily if he had anything to say about it.
