"Heh. Sounds like you were talking to Gaius or some thing. He's the only nice, easy-to-talk to guy I know here." Marshall said, unaware about how...close his comment was to what actually happened. "But whatever. I wouldn't ask if I didn't want to hear, y'know?" Marshall smirked, still staring out at the ocean.
It was like their were two worlds. Every one in here, and every one out there. And for some reason? Marshall cared more about the people inside than outside.

"Yeah, that was his name." Amaya said, finally raising up her snout to rest it ontop of her knees.

"Huh. You don't say. He's my Big Brother y'know." Marshall said, lying down in the sand. If he wasn't talking to Amaya, this would be THE perfect place for a nap.
"So, if you don't want to talk about whats makin' ya so depressed...What about Halloween, huh? Thats coming up."

Amaya blinked and looked down at him with her alien brown and yellow eyes. "Biological?" She asked. They looked nothing like one another at all if they were... Save for the hair.
"Oh... nnn." She mumbled, frowning and looking back out towards the sea. "Used to be my favorite holiday. Now I doubt I'll even bother dressing up or going." She slumped. "There isn't any point in going when you can't wear a costume, you lost your best friend, and you don't have anyone to go with."
Bitter and emo? Yes sir.

Marshall sat up, eyes bulging out of his head, "Skipping Halloween?! What are you, daft woman!? Halloween is what keeps people sane!" Marshall said. It was hard to tell if he was serious or not. "Any one can wear a costume! Hell, I've seen middle-aged men in costumes meant for 13 year old girls! Damn if we can't find one for you!" he exclaimed, holding a finger up in the air as if he just made some great scientific break through.
Exitable and stupid? Yes sir!

The girl listened to him before sighing, her muzzle burried into her knees once more as she stared out at the ocean... or tried to. Looking straight was kind of hard when your eyes were on the sides of your head.
"Even if I did get one, who would I go with?"

"Well, Me, Gaius, and Liamh would gladly chaperogne a fine young lady as yourself." Marshall said in an almost Gentleman-ly tone of voice, still ignoring her sour mood. He was on a mission to cheer her up, even if he DID have to volunteer both of his freinds.

Amaya smiled ever-so-slightly, the first time since Marshall had begun talking to her. "Okay..." She said timidly, though her smile faded just as quick as it had come.
Just because he wouldn't mind escorting you doesn't mean he likes you. He probably just feels sorry for you. Don't get ahead of yourself like you did last time - look where it got you.
Her reptilian mouth contorted as she hid her face again, trying not to cry.

"EHHH?!" Marshall exclaimed as Amaya broke down into tears. He started looking around frantically, trying to figure out what was wrong. "Um, uh, um...D-Did I say some thing wrong?! Please don't be upset! Please!" the large-nosed man said, putting a hand on Amaya's shoulder (which was now under his own vest)
"I'm, um, uh, sorry! Really! You don't have to dress up for Halloween! Really! You don't!"

"S'not your fault... I'm just being stupid." Amaya sniffed and looked back up, her eyes dry and tearless despite the fact that she was actually crying on the inside.

"But...Ummm..." Marshall sighed, offically not sure what to do. "I'm...I'm not sure why you're upset but...Would you please come to the Halloween Party? You got happy when I mentioned it...And, y'know...I like to see people happy..." Marshall sighed. He really wasn't very good at this stuff, but no one could say he didn't try.

The lizard sniffed and wiped at her nose. She thought for a moment before sighing again. "... Fine. I'll come." Though she didn't seem too enthusiastic about it.

"...Pbbbtt! What kind of reaction is THAT?! 'Fine, I'll go'," he said in a mocking voice, "Its Halloween! You're making it sound like I'm forcing you to go to the doctor or some thing! Free candy, costumes, and the possible chance of seeing some of the other Islanders get drunk and sing Karaoke!" Marshall said. He was joking of course, and hoped that his obvious stupidity would lighten Amaya's mood even a little.

All of which didn't seem very appealing at the moment. She stared down at her knees, still wearing the same old frown. It was like nothing could cheer this girl up.
"Sorry. I just can't see myself having fun right now." She said quietly.

Marshall sighed, sitting back down in the sand, looking down at the sand depressed. "Girls are confusin'..." he muttered under his breath. He needed to find SOME THING to cheer her up. Any thing! Any thing at all!
"...I'd offer a hug but we're pratically strangers, and I don't want you to like punch me in the face or some thin'." Marshall chuckeled.
