This was not in my contract!

Perilas entered his office only to find his the light on his phone that meant he had a message flashing. The man sighed, figuring it was another one of the standard, corporation wide messages about how to be sure to carry antitoxins around or a message from the boss about how well progress was going on the projects. Peri sat down and took out his notebook about his students, joting down some notes about the recent child he'd just taught.

Finally, he couldn't stand the light flashing any longer and picked up the phone, punching the button for his voicemail box. Instead of the typical message that he'd been expecting, this one was addressed specifically to him. To report down to the first floor. As Peri got up and grabbed his keys, he wondered why. There was not much on the first floor. Maybe he'd gotten a package in or something? He didn't remember ordering anything.

After locking his office, Perilas walked to the elevator, hitting the down button. As he waited for the elevator to get to his level, he continued wondering why he was needed on the first floor. He hardly ever did anything on the first floor, except eat. Well, at least it wasn't a meeting with the boss. His office was way up closer to the top.

Further thoughts were interrupted as the elevator dinged and opened. Peri stepped on and pushed the button for the first floor. The doors closed and the elevator plummeted downwards. Or at least felt like it. The elevators were rather fast. Too fast for Peri as the elevator dinged again and the doors opened to the first floor. Perilas stepped out and glanced around, not sure where to go now.

A D-tech quickly walked up to the man. "Hello, Mr. Coleman. If you could just follow me, we'll get the paperwork finished." The labcoat-wearing man started walking off and Peri was forced to stop wondering what paperwork and follow after the tech. Maybe it was some new procedures for something? Or maybe he was getting access to one of the other labs? He had no idea what went on behind some of those doors.

The D-tech led Perilas into a small room with a table and a chair on either side in the middle. The tech moved around to the far side and sat down, picking up a pen from the table and motioning for Peri to sit in the other chair. The teacher complied, glancing at the paperwork before him. There was quite a bit of it. "We just need a few signatures from you..." The tech stated, holding the pen out for Perilas.

Peri took the pen and scribbled his signature in the places were the tech was pointing out. "That's it, then." The tech stated, gathering up the paperwork and retrieving his pen from the instructor. "You're set. I'll leave so you two can meet."

Peri looked up at the tech in surprise. Two? There was no one else in this room, was there? The man glanced about the room fully for the first time and spotted a small child in a chair along the wall with the door. Confused, Perilas got up and moved closer to the little brown-hued child in the chair. The child was sucking its thumb and looking up at him with big blue eyes.

"Hello..." Peri said, still confused. This boy couldn't be more than two years old, much too young for one of his classes. Then he saw that the kid was holding out an envelope for him to take. Peri took the envelope, still confused. It had his name on the front and as he went to open it, he saw the kid put its arm back down, still sucking on the thumb.

Quote:
Mr. Coleman,

Perhaps having a child of your own will teach you some responsibility.

The Boss

Perilas read the letter about five times before finally managing to shout "What?!?". The child gave a start and its eyes went wide, following Peri as he went to the door to pull it open and track down that tech. The tech had heard Peri, though, and was entering about the time that Perilas got to the door.

"Is there a problem, Mr. Coleman?"

"I can't take care of a child! What was the boss thinking? I didn't agree to this!"

"Actually, you did. When you signed the paperwork accepting custody of the boy."

"Wha-wha...." Peri's mouth moved on, but no sound came out for a while. "This was not in my contract!"

"Actually, yes it was. You should really read what you are signing, Mr. Coleman. Now I suggest that you stop scaring your son." The tech turned and left.

By this point, the tadpole child had started to cry, loudly. Peri glanced over at the child. A boy? He didn't see any indicator of gender on the child and it wasn't exactly hard to search since the kid wasn't wearing anything. The little boy was crying louder now, tears and snot running down his face. "Y-you no wanna b-be my-my d-daddy?" The boy managed to get out between sobs.

Peri sighed and glanced about the small room. He heard the door open and turned to see a box of tissues slid in before it shut once again. The man picked up the box and went back to the boy in the chair. "No, no. That's not it. I... I just wasn't expecting to become your... daddy." The man winced at the last word as he set about cleaning up the child's face.

The boy's sobbing slowed at that. "Oh." He said, still sniffling a bit. "So you be my daddy?" The boy turned a cheerfully expectant face at the man.

Peri sighed and nodded, which made the boy grin happily and stick his thumb back in his mouth. The man finished cleaning up the boy's face, tossing the handful of dirty tissues into the trash. "Come... Do you have a name?" The man turned back to the boy, who shook his head. "Hmm... well, how about Nibal?" The boy grinned around his thumb. "Okay, so you'll be Nibal. And I'm Perilas."

Nibal took his thumb out of his mouth and looked up at his new father. "P...las... P'las! P'las!"

Peri sighed and let it be. It was better than daddy, at least. "Come on, Nibal. We'll have to set up my extra room for you." Now I know why I was given a two-bedroom apartment, Peri thought.

Nibal wiggled happily and held out both arms towards his father. Peri stood still for a moment. He was not going to carry this kid around. Then the boy's tail moved and Peri finally realized that Nibal didn't have legs. The boss has a sick and very twisted sense of humor, Peri thought as he sighed and picked the boy up. Nibal grinned and stuck the thumb back into his mouth.

Peri opened the door, glaring at the tech who was standing outside. He thrust the box of tissues at the man and started to walk away before pausing and turning back to the tech. "What's his DNA?" Peri asked, curious. It appeared to be a frog or maybe some sort of newt.

"Blue poison arrow frog," was the tech's response before he disappeared on down the hallway.

Peri sighed. Real sick and twisted.

Well, I found out that Nibal gets bored easily if I just leave him in my office while I'm teaching. I came back from a class to find him missing. Took me a while to find him again. I tell you, for a boy that has no legs, he sure can go a ways in a small amount of time. Okay, so I wouldn't count one of my classes as a small amount of time, but you get my drift. Anyways, I found him with one of the other parents.

Then I took him to the park where we ran into one of the other teachers and her kid. Her kid's a lot older, though she's been teaching here for quite a bit longer. I guess they do make a lot of the teachers care for a child. Quite annoying, really.

Anyways, so when Nibal brought home some coloring sheets from his class, I nabbed the advantage of using them to keep him busy while I taught. I still have him stay in my office (who knows what some of those dragons'll do to a small kid like him!). I came back and was happy to find Nibal still there, though when he showed me his sheet, I nearly fell over. He'd colored almost the entire thing.

User Image

So I showed him how he was supposed to color just the pictures and not the whole thing. He worked on the next sheet while I did some work on my computer. I have to say it's at least somewhat better...

User Image

I guess I'm also going to have to get some clothes for him. I don't see much of a point to it (he has nothing to hide!), but it also is weird to have him running around (not literally) naked. I guess I'll just get some longer shirts for him to wear...

Well, I can tell you one thing; Nibal hates wearing these shirts I bought for him. He was fine when we were picking them out, but then when he realized (after we got home) that I intended for him to wear them, he started screaming. Each time I managed to get one of the shirts on him, he had it off in mere seconds. I finally gave up, though he's a bit wary each time I come near. Almost as if he's expecting me to try and force him into a shirt again.

Nibal's definately getting better at coloring. He finally seems to be getting the concept of staying inside the lines much better now. Though he has some odd ideas for colors of things...

Another thing, it's kind of wierd, but the boy drinks a lot of water. After we got back from the park, he was looking a bit odd and ended up drinking several cups of water, then he seemed fine again. He's almost always wanting a drink. I took him to the park again the other day and after about ten minutes, he was begging me for a drink. I didn't bring any water, so I told him he'd have to wait until we got home. After about another ten mintues, Nibal came back, begging again. Only this time, he looked really sick. I quickly rushed him over to the nearest convenence store and got a bottle of water. He gulped it down in seconds and was looking better, but was still thirsty. I got another bottle of water for him and we started for home. He was still a bit sick looking, but was looking quite a bit better. I decided to stick him in the tub (he was rather dirty). Boy did he enjoy that. His color came back after a few moments and he looked much better. After his bath, I decided I needed to find out some information about frogs... Probably should've done that a lot sooner... Found out that they're supposed to stay moist. Guess that was what was wrong. I'll have to be sure to take water with us whenever we go anywhere now...

I recieved this the other day in the mail. I didn't tell Nibal about the party. He's young and I really don't like costume parties. I just don't like dressing up.

We did go and pick up Nibal's goodie bag, though. Well, it was more like I forgot and saw the event when I was headed out at the end of the day.

And then... the boss was murdered. Rather shocking... and to think that my last thoughts of him before that were amusement that he'd been playing with dolls...

Well, Nibal has finished up the last of his worksheets that he brought home. He improved quite a bit from his first sheets, though he still isn't the best at staying in the lines. Oh well, he's only four anyways.

I also got something from the D-techs the other day. They said it was some nutrient that Nibal needed in his diet. It's some rather foul smelling powder that I'm supposed to be putting in his food. He does seem to eat better when I put it in there, so perhaps they were right?

Growing Pains

Perilas woke up one morning to the sound of Nibal crying. "P'las... P'las!" The man threw the covers off himself and ran over to the other bedroom, clad only in a tank and boxers.

"What's wrong?" Peri asked as he opened the door. He spotted Nibal still in bed, tears running down his cheeks.

"I' hur's!" The boy cried.

"What hurts?" Peri knelt at Nibal's bed, pulling back the covers to see what could be causing this much pain. "Oh." He said as the sheets revealed what had to be causing the discomfort. Nibal was starting to grow legs.

"I'll be right back." He told the boy and went over to his bathroom, opening the medicine cabinet. "Children's strength..." He read off one of the bottles of medication. Hopefully it would work. He grabbed the bottle and took it into Nibal's room. "Here, this should help some..." He took the little plastic cup off the top and fought with the childproof cap for a minute before managing to open it. Sighing, he poured out the recommended dose into the plastic cup and held it up to Nibal's lips.

Nibal frowned at the overpowering bubble gum scent of the medicine and whimpered.

"It might taste bad, Nibal, but it'll help with the pain." Peri told the boy.

Nibal opened his mouth and Peri tipped the stuff quickly into the open mouth. Nibal swallowed and grimaced. Peri stood. "I'll get you some water." He left and rinsed out the cup and put the bottle on the kitchen counter before getting a glass of water for Nibal.

Nibal gulped the drink down. "Will it stop hurting soon, P'las?"

"I'm not sure, Nibal."

The tadpole boy peered up at his father. "But... didn't you grow legs too?"

Peri was startled by the odd question. "No, Nibal, I didn't." Then the man realized why the boy had assumed that. "You see, you're special."

"I don't wanna be special. It hurts!" Nibal burst into tears after that statement.

Perilas sat down beside Nibal and hugged the boy to his side. "It won't hurt forever. Your legs will grow and then you'll be able to run around like everyone else."

"How long is it gonna take?"

"I... I'm not sure, Nibal." Peri answered, knowing that however long it did take would not be quick enough.

A child is expected to know certain things at certain ages.
In order to obtain rights to their Dragon(egg), they must prove they can meet these requirements.

The following sheet is for your child to fill out, with mild help from their guardian, then sent back to D-corp. (PM ot the mule)

Also any changes, even minor such as haircuts, should be reported to the D-corp to be logged and filed.

Thankyou,

I got this form in the mail today. It freaked me out when I first read the letter that came with it as it was signed by Alan. What, is the man haunting me now?? Then, I eventually figured that this was some sort of form letter and that there had been a lot of them around even after Alan... died. Man, even though I didn't really care for the guy that much (He stuck me with a kid...) it's still hard to write that.

Anyways, I filled out the form for Nibal and just had him give me his answers. I wasn't really sure who his best friend would be, but Anoki does make sense... even if the kid's mother is a scary, scary woman.

Letter
Well, Nibal is certainly growing. Quite literally in the fact that he's grown in legs lately. Not exactly a painless process. The boy's been doped up on children's pain medication a lot lately. Though it didn't seem to hurt as much later on as it did at the very beginning. That was not fun to go through with him.

Nibal hates clothes. Since he's been growing legs and... boy parts... I've been making him wear his clothing. He. Hates. It. If I don't keep a close eye on him, he'll strip off all of his clothes and run around naked. Which, as I'm finding out, is a very dangerous thing.

I found out recently that now that Nibal has grown into the frog phase, he's poisonous. Rather poisonous. Which means that he needs to be almost completely covered from head to foot to keep people from accidentally getting hurt by his skin's toxicity. Which, of course, is damned near impossible.

No hair, so no haircuts.

I'm almost frightened of what dragon you're going to land him with. But, at the very least, I'll know more about it than most of the parents...

That's a copy of the letter I sent back to D-corp.

Ohemgee, he's poisonous!

Perilas arrived home, shopping bags in hand. "Nibal!" he called as he set the bags down in the floor. He'd decided that since Nibal was growing boy parts, he needed to be wearing clothing.

The boy poked out of his room, a bit unsteady on his legs still. He was improving daily, though, and it'd be no time before he was running around like the other kids his age. The boy was happy to finally have legs. Now he could do all that cool stuff that the other kids could do!

"Come here. I've got some new stuff for you."

The boy got excited. "New toys?" His smile turned into a frown as Peri pulled out clothes. That was not interesting things.

"C'mon. Let's try these on."

"No."

"Nibal..." Peri's voice held a warning in it. He pulled off the price tags on the shirt he was holding. "Ouch..." he muttered as the price tag cut his palm a bit. He frowned and pressed at the wound for a moment. "Now, Nibal. You need to wear clothes."

"Why?"

"Because... you're a boy. And you shouldn't be running around naked."

"Why?" Nibal didn't see what being a boy had to do with him not running around naked.

Peri blushed a bit. He was not going to explain the birds and the bees to the boy this early! "Because I said so. Now come over here and get these on."

Nibal frowned and Peri quickly popped the turtleneck he was holding over the boy's head, then shoved the kid's arms through. He was reaching for the pants when his right hand started going numb. The man panicked, racing over to the stash of emergency supplies he kept.

He fumbled with his left hand, trying to open the kit of supplies. Finally, he got it open and found the pen that was labeled anti-toxin. He popped the cap off with his teeth and jabbed the needle into his upper right arm.

Slowly, feeling came back to his hand and fingers. Sighing, Peri threw the needle away, making sure that the cap was back on and that it was in a sharps container and out of Nibal's reach.

The man was puzzled for a moment. "Blue poison dart frog..." he said, then smacked himself in the forehead. Nibal was outgrowing the tadpole stage. It made sense that he was now becoming poisonous. How could he have forgotten something like that??

Nibal was a bit curious about why his dad had just rushed about the apartment and then stabbed himself with this huge needle. He gulped, hoping that his dad wasn't going to stab him with one as well.

Peri frowned as he saw that Nibal had peeled off the shirt. He went to his room for a moment and found some gloves in his winter clothing and put them on, returning to the living room. "Nibal, it is very important that you keep your clothes on. Did you see what happened to me?"

Nibal nodded, a bit confused.

"Well, it's because I touched your skin. You're poisonous and the poison on your skin hurts people."

"What's poison?" Nibal asked.

"It's... something that can hurt people and even cause them to get really sick." He didn't tack on that it was fatal.

"Sick?" The boy made the connection on his own, though. "Can it make them die?" Nibal was almost near tears. "Are you going to die, P'las??"

"No, no. I'm not going to die." Peri reassured his son, patting him with a glove-encased hand. "Did you see what I did?"

The boy nodded, a bit reassured that his dad wasn't going to die.

"Well, if someone touches your skin and they don't do what I did... they can die."

Nibal sniffled. "Do I have to do it too?"

Peri smiled and shook his head. "No. It doesn't hurt you because your body makes it. Remember me telling you that you're special? Well, this is part of that."

"Oh."

Peri went on. "So if you don't want people to get sick, you have to wear clothes and cover your skin. We'll go and pick out some gloves and a hat later, okay?" Luckily, it was winter and stores were selling that sort of thing. Peri wondered what they would've done if it had been the middle of summer. "But you've also got to warn people not to touch your skin, okay?" And Peri planned on requesting a very large shipment of anti-toxins from D-corp. He'd had the kit because they gave it to him as being a teacher. Now he'd need many more than that, just in case.

Nibal frowned once they'd gotten him dressed, having cut some holes at the end of his socks for his toes to fit through. "P'las... I don't like clothes..." He pulled at them.

"I'm sorry, Nibal..." Peri didn't know what to say. What could he say? The boy was just going to have to learn to keep his clothes on.

Brotherly Love.... Coleman Family Reunion
An AIM RP

Quote:
T'rin Coleman, youngest of the Coleman brothers was happily in his own little world. Both terrifying older brothers had stayed on Earth and the man had avoided giving his new address away. The man sipped his coffee calmly, enjoying the peace and quiet of the early morning cafe.

Quote:
Talner, using the address from Peri's Christmas card, had found out his twin's phone number. Having contacted his twin, Talner told the man that he had recently moved to Gaia and would love to see his brother. Peri had been excited, having not heard from his twin in some time and agreed to meet. Perilas suggested a coffee shop, stating that his apartment was out in the middle of nowhere and he needed to go to town anyways.

So now Talner and his newly adopted son Nathaniel were walking into the coffee shop, the man glancing around for his twin brother. He didn't have much time to scan the people sitting at the various tables as Peri walked in only moments behind his twin. The two men greeted each other with a laugh and a hug, then introduced their sons. The men told the two boys to find an empty table while they ordered coffee for themselves and some milk for the kids. Nate let Nibal lead him to a table close to where some man sat by himself. The table had had a chair stolen from it at some point by a larger group and had only three chairs. The frog boy rested a hand on one of the empty chairs at the table that T'rin was sitting at. "You using this chair?"

Quote:
Looking up at the question, T'rin shook his head with a smile at the kids. "Go right ahead you two. Take all the chairs you need," he said, not taking a second look at the two. The birds were singing the sky was blue.. There was only the slightly terrifying waitress who hovered predatorially in the background. The man closed his eyes with a happy smile.

Quote:
"Thank you, Mister." Nibal said, dragging the chair over to the table and sat down with Nate. The two boys sat in awkward silence, waiting for their fathers to return. Finaly, the frog boy noticed that Peri was scanning the tables for the boys. Nibal waved his arm, "Over here, P'las!"

The two men weaved their way through the tables to where Nate and Nibal were sitting. "Here you go, little buddy," Talner said, setting a glass of milk before Nate.

Peri was about to sit when the man at the table next to them caught his attention. With a large grin on his face, he set Nibal's milk and his coffee down and nudged Talner. When his twin looked up, Peri pointed at T'rin.

With identical evil grins upon their faces, the twins snuck around behind T'rin, then each gave him a wet willie.

Quote:
A loud rather girlie screech startled the birds in the sky and broke the beautiful blue sky into dark dripping shards. Wriggling free from his brothers, T'rin clapped his hands over his ears with a whimper. "Nononononononononooooo......" Bonelessly the man slid off his chair and onto the ground. He was cursed! Cursed! Most people eventually came to love their siblings. T'rin had only grown more horrified and terrified as he had grown older. And traumatized...

Quote:
Laughing and giving each other high-fives, the twins took the other two chairs at the table, grinning from ear to ear. "Look, Peri. It seems our dear little brother has been found."

"Aye, Tal. I bet Mom would be happy to know that we finally found our long lost sibling."

Talner nodded. "Yes, that would make our dear mother happy. To know that all three of her sons were in one world again."

"And our boys were be able to know both of their uncles now." Peri glanced over at Nibal and Nate. "Look boys. It's your other uncle."

Talner nudged T'rin. "Say hello to the boys, Uncle T'rin."

Quote:
T'rin muttered under his breath, "Mom knew where I was...." She had also known how desperately T'rin didn't want his brother's crashing at his place.. Again. Glancing at the two kids, the man grimaced slightly. So some woman was actually stupid enough to.. Well. He was being uncharitable. No doubt there was someone out there that could love his brothers... Even if it was just their mom. Reluctantly T'rin dragged his chair over to the table, plopping it between the two boys. He knew his evil twin brothers well enough to know that he was not getting out of their little 'family reunion'. "Er.. hello...." He muttered, glancing at the two boys. Please let them not take after the fathers..

Quote:
Nibal looked at T'rin. "You're my uncle, too?" The frog boy was grinning almost as widely as his father, though with a lot more innocence. "Why didn't you just say so earlier?"

Peri nearly choked on his coffee. Trust a kid to be blunt like that. Grinning, he looked at T'rin. "Yeah, Uncle T'rin. Why didn't you just say so?"

Nate was watching quietly, sipping on his milk. This was all too new to him and a bit scary. But his father was there and was happy, so it couldn't be bad.

Quote:
Brilliant scarlet danced on T'rin's face. "Er... I'm afraid.. well... I didn't know." He squirmed uneasily. "Ah.. So.. er.. Peri....Wife?" He finally sputtered out, face flaming even more at the mere suggestion of.. Yeah. The man scooched a little closer to Nate, who was at least quiet and hence less likely to be terrifying.

Quote:
Perilas grinned at his little brother's apparent embarassment. "Nah, no wife. Wouldn't be fun, having to settle to just one woman for the rest of my life." The man wondered why T'rin had asked. "Oh! Nibal... you..." Peri laughed. "No, no. I was... selected... to adopt Nibal."

Nibal grinned at T'rin. "I was made in a lab. I get a dragon, too! That's why I was made. To raise a dragon. And P'las teaches at my school about dragons. He gets to take care of the dragons and everything. He showed me my dragon's egg a couple of times now. My egg is close to hatching, he said. Then I can take other classes that P'las tea-" The boy's long and excited speech was cut short by Peri clamping a gloved hand over the boy's mouth.

"Heh. He gets excited about dragons..." Peri said. "Oh, and... uh, don't touch his skin..."

Nibal sobered up at that. "My skin makes people sick..." The boy muttered.

Quote:
"...Oh...." The man, now uncle, dropped the hand he had been reaching out to offer to Nibal. T'rin directed his gaze to Talner almost dreading to ask. Of course, he probably should have expected that Nibal wasn't really related to Perilas. The skin should have been a dead give away. But some of the things he had found in his older brother's room. Well, there were all sorts of new species on this Gaia and as long as one was female... Or a really feminine looking guy.. As for Talner, T'rin wasn't even going to ask. More likely it was a mistake that hadn't been corrected soon enough.

Quote:
Talner noticed T'rin's gaze upon him now. "He's not mine." The man pointed at Nate. "I got lost and ended up at some library, so I went in to ask for directions and... well, I came out with him." The man had figured out the hard way that.. Gaia was really effed up.

Quote:
T'rin decided to simply nod. Gesturing Nate and Nibal closer, he whispered to the two. "I'm sorry about your misfortune. If you need to run away, I've got room." He nodded again.

Quote:
Both boys just blinked. "Huh?" Nibal asked. "I like P'las... Don't wanna run away..."

Nate was confused and decided to be quiet and drink his milk.

The twins rolled their eyes at their little brother. "Just ignore him, little buddies." Talner told the boys. "Uncle T'rin likes to be funny sometimes, even if he's the only one that thinks it's funny."

Quote:
And your dad's like to think their funny when all their doing is causing pain and humiliation." T'rin retorted quickly. "Or if they happen to have a 'guest' rare though that is," he added after a moment. He would actually enjoy telling them how many 'offers' of dates, marriages, oh and that woman who asked to have his babies. T'rin shuddered. At least now he could steer them towards his brothers instead of having them try again, and again. What was it with woman wanting those who wanted nothing to do with them? T'rin scooted his chair back a step, cautiously watching his brothers. Could he leave yet?

The boys wondered about the first part and Nate continued to wonder about the second part. Nibal, however, blushed at the second part. Luckily, P'las didn't notice, because he and Talner were hooking their feet about T'rin's chair legs to pull him back to the table.

"Leaving so soon?" Peri asked.

"You've hardly talked with your nephews. They've never met their Uncle T'rin and who knows when they'll see him again since he tends to run away and not tell his brothers where he is..." Talner added.

Quote:
Gulp. Guess not. "Er.. Yes..." Crap. The man searched his mind frantically for something or other to talk to the boys about. What did he like to do when he was their age? Hide from his brothers. Not exactly something the two could relate to. "Umm... What do you two like to read?" T'rin grimaced. "Other than about dragons," he clarified.

Quote:
Nibal started to open his mouth, then frowned at the addtion. "All the books that P'las has are about dragons..." Then he added, "But one of my teachers when I was littler read us some books in class..."

Nate softly spoke up. "I like cars..."

Quote:
"Cars?" T'rin grabbed on that, ignoring his brother's. They could play catch up all they wanted. "What kinds of cars? I used to like firetrucks, and wanted to be a fireman when I grew up." A short lived desire way back when he was about three but T'rin wasn't about to admit that. Trying to draw Nibal into the conversation, he turned to ask the boy. "What about you, Nibal? Do you have a favorite type of car?"

Quote:
Nate grinned, a small grin, but it was there. "I like all cars. Trucks are fun too. Firetrucks make noises. And police cars and ambalanshes too. Noises are fun."

Nibal smiled. "Fast cars! I like racing cars!"

The two fathers just sat back. If T'rin wanted to ignore them, that was fine. They'd just make sure that he stayed here for a while. And that he didn't leave Gaia....

Quote:
T'rin nodded sagely, going along with the conversation. "Fast cars huh.. I do too. The fast cars that make really loud noises. Too bad they don't let adults drive as fast as we want." The man squirmed a little, brain blanking. Cars.. noises... uh.... uhhh... He nearly broke down and looked to Talner for help. But no! Not after that humiliating display of childishness they had greeted him with. Tally ho! -Or something- "So.. Cars... Do you guys like to go to the park?"

Quote:
Nibal frowned. "Eh... park's okay. But there's lots of people there and I have to be careful they don't touch me by accident..." He preferred being at home or in P'las' office where he could take off some of the stiffling clothing that he had to wear in public.

Nate looked at T'rin. "What's a park?"

Talner's jaw nearly dropped at that question. "Your... mommy... never took you to a park??"

Nate shrugged. "Don't think so...." Talner was baffled.

Quote:
"You should go!" T'rin spoke up quickly, trying to think of if there was another world he could move to while they were gone. "There are a couple of really good ones around here. Even one with a small water park." No, he didn't know from experience, not at all!

Quote:
Nathaniel looked at his uncle. "Really? Would you come, too?"

Talner grinned at his little brother. "I'm sure Uncle T'rin would love to join us at the park sometime. Isn't that right?"

Nibal cheered up about the water park. He liked the pool. "Can we go too, P'las?" He almost cheered aloud when Peri nodded agreement.

Quote:
Foiled by those meddling kids! T'rin didn't really have the heart to dissapoint the boys, or the will to stand up to his brothers. "Of course," he complied with a strained smile on his face. "But another day it will have to be. I need to get going.." T'rin started to push out his chair, unsure if he would be let loose into the wild without a tracker. Scratch this coffee place off his list of places..

Quote:
Nate frowned. "You're leaving?" Having had a bad past with people leaving him, tears began to well up in his eyes. "You will go to the park with us, right?"

Talner put an arm around the boy. "If Uncle T'rin says he will, then he will." The man threw daggers at his brother as if to say 'You'd better or you will experience lots of pain.'.

Peri quickly scribbled something down on a napkin. "Here. Call me. Tomorrow." His tone clearly stated that T'rin had better do what he asked.

Quote:
Defeat. "Er.. uh......." Gingerly the man took the napkin, half expecting it to filled with pepper or something. Surely Peri wouldn't have become responsible in his er... young age. Stuffing it into a pocket he shot a pained look at both his brothers before sighing and nodding. "I'll call...." Mentally the man began to rehearse his funeral arrangements. With that he wandered off, not even remembering to get his coffee.

Quote:
The twins grinned at one another as their little brother left. Having finished their coffees, the men looked at the two boys. Peri spoke up. "I guess I'll call you about going to the park."

Talner nodded. "Sounds good to me. It was nice to see you again."

"You too." And with that, the two families left for their own homes.
