Please do let us know how it goes! I'm really confused what your mom considers a "good church" and a "good Bible"?

i don't go to church. i know a lot of people who say you need to go to church to be a good christian, but i don't believe it anymore. I went to the same fine upstanding Presbyterian church from 3rd grade until 9th grade, but then, in 9th grade, several events occurred that caused me to leave. sure church can unify you with other people, but a church isn't a building with people in it, a church is the people and the poeple only. I believe that if you are surround yourself with people with good morals, and at least a couple people with the same belief structure as yourself, you're okay.

if you rely too much on the building along with the people, then you assign yourself to a sure fate of betrayal eventually unless you turn a blind eye to the breakdown.

i don't know.. maybe I'm just too pessimistic. but don't say that it's only because i've had one bad experience because trust me, that's not true.

Piece of advice. Don't be surprised when people let you down or fail to meet your expectations. I have been hurt by the church (it's amazing I'm still going, I think I've made my point quite clear to God about this matter). If this ever happens to you, tell God, and someone else you trust. If nothing seems to be happening, you may want to consider trying somewhere else! Be persistent, and be patient. I pray that God helps you find a good church where you can grow and be a blessing to others.

As it was explained to me was that a church is a family, a group to hang on to through thick and thin. Thats probably what your mom is looking for. And its understandable about the community theses days. A lot of churches are looking for numbers rather than helping, but its not wrong as long as you keep sunday God's day, and the whole thing with baptism is that it is an outward expression of whats happening inward. (It is biblical) as long as your actions show that you have and not just your words your alright. It just helps to have a community of other believers around to support you in times of need.

ok to answer the first question you asked

"if i were to die what would happen to me"

i belive you would not go to heven..

i say this becasue you've not been baptised, i'm curious to know why so may here seem to think this is just a symbol of faith to others!?

baptisum is a point in your life where you accept christ and repent (a chage in you mind where you make evry efort to become christ like in your actions and thoughts - i know beeing like christ is impossible for a mere mortal man to achive thats why you need FELOWSHIP (church), the bible and prayer to guide you in your struggle.)

to me baptisum is where you have your sins washed away (from when you started to sin to when you're bapatised- all the sins are forgiven and is a strong point of faith where you can build upon (a strong focus point if you will)). to me this is very important and i feel it's a must to be come christain. if you want to discuss why i feel so strongly of have questions challange me you only build in faith if you are challed right!?! (i don't mean as in competions- but challenge my faith)

and if you can i recomed the niv (new internation version) youth bible's or the street bible.. great fo us younger generations smile

to be honest a bible is a bile every bible has the same message just differnt wording so it dosen't matter what one you get!

(i too must stress that i have not yet been baptised either and i know i need to be but i can't explain why i havent been either so i need help in this area to razz )

Personally, I wouldn't recommend not going to church. I have less than two years in faith, and if it were not for the help of the fellow brothers, sisters and pastors in church, I would not have been able to fight such battles as the ones that the Father has given me to fight. Not only they serve as encouragement, but they help you settle your mind on the things above.

Sometimes it's not possible to go to church, I know, but if you can, by all means, go: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25). The "meeting together" of Christians in church is one of the biggest blessings that God created. His grace is poured in the assembly in a special way, and that's exactly why David rejoices with those who said they'll go to the house of the Lord (Psalm 122:1).

That's between you and God, as it is for any person.

Going to church does not save you. Repenting and turning from your sins, and confessing Jesus as Your Lord and Savior is what does.

No, your not going to hell. But going to church and reading your bible (old and new testament) will strengthen your walk with Christ.

Sometimes people ask the question of "I'm an atheist and I don't go to church, so am I going to hell?'" just to see a Christian tell someone else they're going to hell.

It happens quite often, and it's hard to tell a sincere question from someone who's just asking to see a Christian say someone else is going to hell.

I get the feeling that you're sincerely interested in discussing your initial question. Feel free to PM me if the answer you've recieved wasn't satisfactory enough or you'd just like to talk more, or if you just feel like it. =)

Also - if you're going to hell it's not because you've never been to church.

P.s. you like Ramstein? I'm not much of a fan, Ramstein is a bit too vulgar for my tastes and a bit too unintelligible as well, but I love German! It's so cool! heart

My church isn't that good. (They're starting the whole tele-marketing thing, and loads of other [...] "not-so-good" ideas) I go to church not because my parents/relatives tell me to, I go because God the person I would die for tells me to... I actually don't read the bible, because anything the bible might mention can be explained even better in church, and, I just don't like reading.
