He supported her gently and helped her lay down, golden eyes soft, but holding a deep sadness that seemed infinite even as he forced a smile and nodded to her question. "I will." He lay down beside her, gently nosing her forelocks away from her eyes like he had always done, wiping away her tears as best he could. "Please don't cry, miss Luna, I didn't mean to make you sad..."

"It's not...you..."She whispered looking back down. In truth it really wasn't. At least not all him. The most of her sorrow came from her fears. Sure she had support from just about all she'd ever met but that didn't help her much. One could easily say they'd be there and really be angry at her. She gasped at the sudden thought. Was, was Shadow angry at her?

He heard her sharp intake of breath as he laid his chin over her back, golden eyes sliding closed and pretending for a moment that nothing was wrong, that they were happily in love... although it would never be true, since apparently it was one-sided. "What's wrong, miss Luna?" he asked without moving much, not really having the energy or motivation to move.

Lunathiel rather enjoyed the feeling of being this close to the leopard spotted stallion. She hated to break the sensation but felt she needed to. "Are you...mad at me?" She whispered laying her head flat on the ground. This would be the end of everything she felt. If he said he was, she'd leave. She would have no choice but to go as much as it pained her.

"I couldn't be mad at you even if I wanted to, miss Luna." He offered her a sad smile, although it was sincere, and closed his golden eyes. He could pretend, at least for now, that this wasn't really happening... although he would have to face the truth sooner or later. How had he ended up in this situation? He'd never thought about the possibility of being on the wrong end of an unrequited love...

She let out a breath the blue mare hadn't been aware she had been holding. "That's a relief..." She said giving him a genuine smile somehow missing his discomfort. "I could really use you here right now..." She wasn't entirely sure why she felt completely happy right now. Was this what they meant by hormones running your life? If it was she decided that this wasn't gonna be pleasent.

"Just let me know what you need me for, miss Luna..." he wasn't really sure what else to say, what else he could say. It wasn't his family, wasn't his place to interfere... he could only watch from the sidelines as she had her foals and raised them with someone else. He would be a brother to her, he supposed... and even though it hurt, he would heal eventually. He laid his chin upon her back and sighed softly.

The mare of the waves let out a contented sigh as she lay her head to the ground. What did she need him for? Nothing she guessed..."Just stay with me...just like this..." Her music like voice was laced with sleep and she knew that if she stayed like this it would claim her. Surprisngly she did not care in the least. The small comfort she found in him could stay, it would stay, and she'd be happy. Oh how she hoped he would stay. She let out a yawn as her body went a little slack. Her breathing relaxed and she begain to doze off.

It was there, in the secluded silence of their small forest clearing, with his chin resting upon her back, that he finally allowed the first of the tears to fall. Shadow was not by any means an overly emotional or sensitive stallion, but there was only so much one's heart could take. She didn't love him. She'd never loved him. And now she was starting a family with someone else. He couldn't bear the thought... the image of her and another stallion, watching the foals- their foals- romp and play with loving eyes. He didn't belong in the picture, and he never would.
It was difficult to control his anguish, and it showed clearly on his ebony face, golden hues still glistening with unshed tears as his features contorted in agony. He needed to leave... needed to get out of there, to forget her and this whole situation... but he'd told her he would stay, and he could never break a promise to her. No, he would bear his pain in silence and support her like a brother... at least he could be close to her in some way. Watery eyes sliding closed, he let out a shaky sigh as his ears lay flat against his head, trying to quell the stinging behind his eyes.
It wasn't fair.

'Lunathiel...what have you done...?' Her ear flicked softly to the side at the voice. Why did it sound so distant? A shimmering figure appeared before her eyes, one with no shape, and it was then she realized she was dreaming once again. "Strange...dream...come...Shadow..." She muttered in a barely audible tone. She wasn't even aware it had left her mouth. In fact, she had been thinking that 'strange dreams come when I'm around Shadow' but that really didn't matter as the shimmering apperition was moving.
'You hurt him...'It said waving about creating a circular portal of a sort. Luna's eyes strained to see through it and when she could make out what it was she let out a gasp only heard by her. It was Shadow, and he was...crying? That wasn't right. Shadow never cried, never. Not even when he hit the ground so hard from that jump.
She didn't know what to say. What could be said? The spirit of her dream was right, she'd screwed up big time. "Shadow...I'm...sorry..."She whispered eyes fluttering as she begain to awaken from her sleep. Something needed to be done about this foolishness.

Her soft, sleepy murmurs brought him back to himself, and he swallowed the lump in his throat, shaking his head to dispel the traces of tears. He refused to make her sad, especially over him. Golden eyes snapped open at her soft apology, softening after a moment with sadness and affection as he nosed at her mane. "What are you sorry for, miss Luna?" She hadn't really done anything wrong... it was his own mistake, falling for someone who wasn't free to return the feelings.

"For...not telling you..."She mumered eyes now open though still unfocused. She turned her head to face the stallion, she needed to explain and it was now or never. "...the whole story..." She forced herself out from under him, away from the comfort of his warmth and directly into his gaze to face him head on. "It...I...I was drunk..." She lowered her gaze keeping her head raised though. She felt ashamed once again, drunkeness was no excuse and she knew it.

He wasn't sure what to make of this statement... should he allow himself to hope? That she hadn't meant to go off with someone else, to start a family without him? He wasn't sure he could bear another heartbreak, so he wouldn't assume anything for now. Lowering his muzzle to place under her chin and lift it sligtly, his eyes met hers as he forced a sad smile. "Do you love him?" He supposed the nature of her answer would change him forever, whether in a good way or bad.

Her breath caught in her throat making a sort of choking sound. Her face reflected her internal drama completely. Her eyes shone with confusion and a form of mild pain where her delicate ears were pinned back. All of this was forcing her to shake. "I...do not...know..." She wanted to cry. How could she say something like that? She was about to have Kohana's foals and she didn't know if she cared for him or not. "I don't know,Shadow..."She whimpered. "I just don't know..."

He closed his eyes briefly, nodding his own understanding as the grief washed over him in its entirety. It didn't matter, really... even if she didn't love him, they were starting a family together, and he didn't doubt that love would blossom eventually. Still, despite his pain, she was his first concern, and he gently laid his forehead upon hers as he saw her start to shake. "Shh, just relax miss Luna, it'll be okay..." that was a half-truth, as he wasn't sure if he'd be all right, but at the moment, his health was irrelevant.
