What countries are you interested in?
And to stay on topic, do you think the FMA world needs foreign exchange programs to help international relations? I do. xd

If I were in a foreign exchange program, my top 5 countries would be: Canada, Japan, England, France and Australia.
And the FMA world definately needs foreign exchange programs... but they can't send Ed. He would probably worsen international relations. xd

England and Japan sound awesome! Heh... they should send Al to fix the international relations. He'd spread love and kitties throughout the world... Alphonse Elric: Model Foreign Exchange Student! *Image from Fullmetal Alchemist chapter 64 by Hiromu Arakawa-sensei.

I hope to go to Japan, China, and Spain during college. But I think England would be cool too. It's not on top priority though because I can already speak English and I want to better my foreign language skills.

Very creative, onee-chan. *the room is filled with the sound of one hand clapping* Anyhooo.... Onto the discusiion topics!
Is the manga or the anime better? Manga. More in detail, and it has a better plot. What do you like better about the manga? Like I said, it's more in detail. And all the characters actually have personalities. What do you like least? I'm not sure. Ther is no fault to the manga! It is prefection. Except.... maybe Winry. She's so violent. xp What do you like better about the anime? It's got awesome fight scenes. What do you like least? How the characters have no depth. INCUDING the main ones. Al has no personality depth whatsoever! *is sad* Why are most of the anime characters so emo? I don't know. All I know, is that there are a lot of them. Ed, Roy, Al (on some occasions), Scar.... need I go on?

Topic Starter.
So..... who's every body's fav character in the manga and and/or anime? And that means that it can't be the colonel, Ed, Al, Winry, or Scar. Mine in the anime is Fletcher, and in the manga.... hmmm. I like I like Khayal. He's so cute^^

sapphirestarr That sounds fun. Although I've never been out of the United States, being an exchange student seems like it would be a great experience. What perfect timing too, with the FMA movie coming out this year! xp
My highlight of the summer was going to Otakon in Baltimore with one of my friends (firefoxxq, another mod). We got to go shopping, see the premiere of the FMA movie (along with 1000 other screaming otaku), and meet some voice actors/actresses, such as Christine Auten (Izumi), Caitlin Glass (Winry), and Mike McFarland (ADR Director and Havoc). It was a lot of fun and I'm planning to go next year. mrgreen
We get off topic a lot. I MET THEM TOO! They were awesome. mrgreen I also met Monica Rial, and we had this little Roy fangirl moment. She was wearing a Roy pin, and I complimented her on it, and then she signed my Otakon guide magazineish thingy "Roy is hot!" Is the manga or the anime better? Manga. What do you like better about the manga? Characters are deeper, more background information, more blatantly obvious hinted EdWin, more OTP Royai evidence hints. What do you like least? It doesn't move. *pokes panels* Nope, still doesn't move. What do you like better about the anime? Motion. Voices (some of whom I met). MUSIC. GOOD MUSIC. What do you like least? Lack of amusing characters, lack of character background, not enough to satisfy the shippers. mrgreen Why are most of the anime characters so emo? emo Because they know how much the fans prefer their anime counterparts. And because a lot goes on to make them emo. And because the dead people they bring back to life are evil. (Otakon = highlight of my summer life. xd )

That's so cool! I wanted to meet all of the FMA voice actors, but we could only go Friday night and most of Saturday. So I thought we did pretty good. Doesn't Monica Rial sound nothing like Lyra?
Otakon = proof of my no life obsession xp

I've never been to an anime convention. *is sad* Although I'd like to go. It would be so awesome in my opinion to meet Sonny Strait and Vic Mignogna! *hearts their voice acting skills and the latter's singing skills* Although I won't claim that any of the English voice actors in Fullmetal Alchemist are my favorite English va of all time though... that honor belongs to Derek Stephen Prince (Ken Ichijouji from Digimon Adventure 02). ^-^ (For the record, my absolute favorite VA in any language is Paku Romi. The roles of hers that I know are Ed (FMA), Ken (Digimon 02), Tao Ren (Shaman King), and Natsume (Gakuen Alice). She is so good at what she does!)
As for my favorite characters:
Anime: Maes Hughes. And the rest of his family, but mostly Maes Hughes. NOT Alter!Maes. *Alter!Maes is an ultra-serious nazi who really needs to follow Maes' advice to Roy.* (<--Take that, spoilers! Ha!)
Manga: Maes Hughes, followed closely by Ling Yao and Ran Fan. And the rest of the Hughes family, but mostly Maes, Ling, and Ran. ^-^ I refuse to include Fu in there, however, due to the events of chapter 63. *I don't care about his culture or his relations with Ran - MEN ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SLAP WOMEN! PERIOD!!!!*

She means favorite character in manga-verse/anime-verse as in that character is only in the manga/anime. I think.
My fav manga character not in the anime is Ran Fan (although Ling is a close second).
My fav anime character not in the manga is... aw crap. I kinda liked those two Isbalan boys.

...well, this thread is kinda dead. sweatdrop My favorite manga only character is probably Ling - he brings a lot of hilarity to the series when he first shows up. My favorite anime only character is... probably Dante, actually. The way she sees the world and her views on things is so unique - plus she was a good plot device. xd
Other questions: Which one did you see/read first? How did it draw you in? What part made you laugh/cry/smile/wet yourself in fear etc.?

What part made you laugh/cry/smile/wet yourself in fear etc.? Um... too many parts to list. redface
